Dude...keep at it..go for the gold..yada yada....I remember less than a year ago you were posting about doing your 1st jump and having concerns about the money you would be spending...how would you get to the DZ etc..now look where you are... Your plan is good...any plan is good...you have a plan..that is the main thing..screw what others think and do what you need to do... My only advice is to keep going at it with all your effort as you have been doing. Cudo's to you

Another brand...were they "work boots" steel toe and shank..or a equivlent structure such as a composite? Common people I am not talking pretty shoes(sorry ladies) or non plated boots(sorry ladies)...I am talking real WORK boots...steel toe and shank or the latest and greatest thing in replacing the steel with other suitable components.... Comments?
-
And where might you be?
-
Where's the DAMN LINK!
-
Resale on a Tri 190 is prob pretty poor right now.....Areodyne just had the sale of the century on Tri's..sweet deal too...$700USD for a brand spanking new Tri...so you may want to consider keeping it and really learning how to fly it (IMHO)

And another vote for the Durashocks...I will be checking into these. Pretty soon this may turn into a RSL type of thread .......or a great taste/less filling type of one
-
Another Red Wing vote....boots lasting 2 to 3 years turning wrenches???....damn man you must work in some unionized shop
-
Poured mink oil into them....yikes! Man people run away now when I take off my boots.....I cant even imagine the stench there would be if it combined with liquid essence of mink Scary very scary On the pedometer note...I must try that one day...would be quite interesting.
-
If its pretty much trash...maybe try injecting it with expanding foam as a temp repair? bad idea ...but I am feeling cocky tonight
-
Stop that!...you have caused me to bruise my chin...and my tongue in now full of wood and drywall dust from hitting the floor(doing reno's).... Well either stop it or keep it going...inquiring minds want to know Edited to add: all of a sudden my aching feet and boot problems seem to have dissapeared....on with the crotchless pantyhose talk!!!!!!
-
Shoes?.....were talking man talk about BOOTS here ...althought if you would like to tell us about your boots.............I can actually picture them.....knee high...black....spiked heels...topped off with something frilly above the boots...DROOL

3 to 5 years ..another WOW I,ve thought of Red Wings but havent seen them here in Nova Scotia. Being a mechanic the leather and stiching would never last more than a year...to many chemicals(oil/trans/brake/floor cleaner/etc) get onto em to expect too much out of them.... I just want a pair that wont have me in agony for a month or two while breaking them in
-
Ouch....IMHO if your getting blisters it usually means that the boots dont fit you well...allowing too much movement....can you get another pair to try? Personally even though I have small feet(no comments girls) I have bought them bigger in the past than I should have to get the proper width ...even tripple E's are tight width wise and I usually end up blowing out the stitching on the side of the boot just after they become comphy ...have you gone to a larger size then necessary to make up for lack of width fit?
-
WOW...boots being comphy from the get go...I am jealous...the name is etched into memory now though and will check them out
-
Does anyone else hate breaking in new work boots? I go through at least 2 pair a year and I find the break in period horrible...I am not talking cheap boots either!!....I spend 13 hour shifts on concrete running around like a mad man in them so I do not scrimp on quality...my last pair was over $200 CAD and took over 2 months to break in Its almost like the steel shank has to form to your foot before they become comphy.... So low and behold ....I see boots on sale with a composite toe and shank...has anyone tried these new non-steel work boots?....Do you like them? etc?...they seem nice and light as I do the initial break in but only time will tell if they are worth the $$ comments?
-
Excellent
-
I am sure you would learn something...as I love to teach....but I am a little dissapointed in the fact that you have to ask what I do.....as I have already stated in this thread that I am a Master mechanic....hmmm responding to my posts with some ire yet cant recall that info......... I do read these fourms alot and know that your a cowboy/rigger ....however I do not know what flanking a calf means....but with Brokeback Mountain being in the limelight and being a smartass.....naw...I wont go there
-
Well as I hope you can see I do understand or atleast understand as much as possible with my limited knowlage of gear....and am happy that you seem to understand my points now as well
-
My my you riggers do seem to be a sensitive lot ......My comments and questions were not meant to be offensive to you or anyone else...please dont take them as such.
-
I dont think your being a dickhead...but I do think you are a tad bitter....I do understand where you are coming from as I find the same lack of respect and understanding in my trade. Btw....I will be buying whom ever has repacked my reserve a bottle when and if I ever use it. I do not think you should be hooking up peoples 3 rings for free...If someone has not taken the time or effort to learn such a simple task then they deserve to be charged for your time...but $25 a side...wow. Btw....I wouldnt not ask you or any other rigger to hook up my 3 rings nor hook up my canopy to the risers as I have been taught how to do these simple tasks...I of course am still learning but I believe ever skydiver should know the basics and how to perform these tasks along with line continuity checks and main canopy inspection. Yup....I call it a stupidity charge and agree with you completely.....just bring your car to me and park it 500 yards away in the back corner of the parking lot when its pouring rain out ....etc etc...guess who's bill is gona be higher and whos car took a extra hour just to bring it into the shop You seem to think I am attacking you when I am not....as I stated earlier I agree with your gripes but questioned the doubling the price of the reserve R&I when adding a main inspection and repack to the reserve R&I as it does not take anywhere near the same time to perform. I do think you should charge extra for extra work and hitting some dumbass with a stupidity charge always makes me smile
-
the inspection process of the main is no where near as time consuming as the R&I of the reserve/container. How much more time do you spend inspecting the container and packing the reserve compared to the actual reserve inspection?

Its quite interesting how a simple thread about common curtesy and respect can turn into such a informative and intresting one
