I'm sitting in my van with glops of bondo on the roof. At least it won't leak. I'm not ready to take the headliner off yet. I spent the afternoon trying to figure out why the light on my motorcycle was going on and off.

Well???...what have you done?...or are you stitting in the van covered in the headliner wondering how to get out? Slurp...J&B weld is one of my best friends....recently one of the guys at work broke a piece off of his own intake manifold.....over $600 to buy new...."hold my coffee and watch this"...a few well placed holes from my trusty drill and my good friend J&B weld...poof..like new....almost

hehe...well removing the liner is really a good idea to even do a crappy repair...1st remove all the trim thats over the liner...usually held on by trim screws and hidden clips(take out all the screws and then pry/pull to "pop" the clips and hopefully not break too much)...remember where everything goes for reassembly!...then start pulling down the liner(gently)...noting how its attached.... once the liner is removed and you have access to the underside a varity of crappy repairs can be performed...but its best to dent arount the area of the hole and to then fill in with a welder(most common is a mig)..then bondo the big imperfections...then rasp and sand...the putty the minor flaws...prime and paint.. heres a suggestion for a quick crappy repair that will look smooth till it rusts....remove liner...sand/grind down to bare metal...dent in slightly around the repair area...apply bondo to the underside...use masking tape to keep it from sagging(just cover the inside...lets say....hmmm...1/2 around the hole..then tape)...go up top and fill in the dent....let dry...sand...putty...prime ...paint.... done deal...ohhhh..and dont be supprised if it leaks or crackes in time Edited to add:.....or just get that bondo outa there and use rtv silicone to cover the holes...did that for a fast effective repair on my beater that im only gona keep for a few more years

Okies then...another few Q's..and you didnt really answer some of the other Q's... 1st off...3/8 is not all that large and the roof liner means that it dosent have to be that pretty on the inside.. How good do you want it to look?(answer this time)Do you have access to a mig? How are your mechanical skills(I will assume there decient from reading your posts) Your gona have to remove the headliner and trim....not all that hard...get the shit outa there thats floating around...and give you access to the underside of the roof. and the rest really depends on the other Q's...
-
I am not a body man(Master tech)...filling holes on a roof with bondo is a crappy repair...it really depends on several things as what you should do... Is it a nice new van? or a beater? how good do you want it to look? how big are the holes? is there a interior roof liner? why the hell did you remove that harmless roof rack anyways?

I'll have what your having tonight Acceptance "into" the sport is more of a social circle thing then it is a love to skydive thing...do the people in the local click accept you as one of them or not?.....that hot flirty chick with only 10 jumps and 1 month in the sport will more likely be accepted then the dude with bad breathe and 200 jumps and 2 years in the sport that dosent stick around for the bonfire. but who should be accepted? the hottie or the stinky?......I'm all for accepting the hottie...is it right...nope...but thats how things seem to work..its all social skills for being accepted. Edited to add: and a great ass never hurts.....

Winter jumping -- Ski gloves okayed -- Possible dangers?
DeNReN replied to mdrejhon's topic in Safety and Training
My brother gave me a pair of Fox cold weather motorcross gloves for Xmass....Jumped with them last weekend (-8 deg C @ 10k)....good thin gloves ....good feel. Made a point of keeping my fingers moving on the ride to alt. to keep the blood flowing and warm....only started to notice the cold on final.(and I pulled high 5K) May I also suggest wearing a pair of ski gloves over your thin gloves on the ride to alt. (making sure to keep the blood flowing) and removing them when geting ready for jump run..stash them in your suit or in the plane. -
