Hell yeah!!! It's about time someone put some backbone into the value of the pro rating. It should've always been as least as hard to get as the AFF rating used to be. Obtaining the rating as it currently exists, puts the idea in some people's head that they are capable of much more than they really are. Let's see how good you are in marginal winds in front of 90,000 people. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

I have a farm in Kentucky that would've been a great location for this movie and they never contacted me, dammit!! Would've made 'em a smokin' deal, too. Just went to the theatre 2 hours ago to see "Cold Mountain" and it was already sold out on 2 screens when we got there. Guess the boycott needs a bigger push. "There's another one about it called "The Climb" by Anatoli Boukreev. Tells a pretty different story than "Into Thin Air" does. Both are really great reads." Different in which way? I know that "Into Thin Air" mentioned a difference of viewpoints between the two but didn't get very specific. Think I'll have to read "the Climb". The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

Read it a couple of years ago and it was indeed disturbing although inspiring as well. The aircraft charter company I worked for at the time flew Beck Weathers, the doctor who lost several body parts to frostbite, to some speaking engagements about five years ago and he truly was a very nice person. Kinda hard to look at but a real nice guy.

The skydiving scene in Fandango was actually a remake of a college film course project called "Proof". All the actors were different except Truman (Marvin J. McIntyre) the burnt out jumpmaster and some were even skydivers. The dialouge is the same as is the airport and the jump plane. I met the guy who played the original character "Dorman" in the "Proof" version. He was asked to come in and audition for the same part in "Fandango" but by that time he had lost 75 pounds and most of his hair. Needless to say, he didn't get the part. "Proof" used to be a beer tent staple on the boogie circuit in the early 80s and at that time, the ground school scene didn't seem that far removed from a lot of people's FJC experiences The older I get the less I care who I piss off. -
