Good question, I tried a bunch of different goggles and came to the conclusion that just because it works for one person it may not work for you. I guess because they fit each person different. I had gorz that were good in head down but sucked in a sit. I just went with the student goggles with the yellow tint.. you can pull them pretty tight. They have worked fine, you won't win the fashion show but who really gives a rats ass

This is from a post a couple of years ago about a reserve ride that I had( NOT due to a malfunction) but bad body position therefore had to use my knife prior to cutting away. If your new or seasoned and upgrading your gear please consider a metal hook knife and if your a dealer don't sell these. Yes this plastic one saved my ass but if I needed to cut one more line I might not have survived. I had put the snap end between my teeth after I was done and could not believe my eyes when I landed. Moral... NO PLASTIC HOOK KNIFE

I suggest you ask your DZO to look him up in the DZO database. All Group Members have access to it. Yes I do know that, just thought that it might be something that I could do myself.

some loud mouth that I ran into boasting about all his ratings "oh I don't have my card with me" was his answer. I am not by any means concerned with the people I jump with. Would love to stick a sock in someones BIG mouth. The question was not to put you or anyone on the defensive as your reply sounded, if so I stand corrected

I took the liberty of looking for this topic to no avail. I know the uspa can check ratings (valid,up to date) Why is it not available to us?

I can only expand on this thread based on customer service. I had to use my hook knife prior to a cut away. With 4 lines cut I sent it to PD to have them replaced. I rec'd a call from Donna who told me that it needed a complete reline (only had 100 jumps sabreII) and it would be half price because it was so new. I got off the phone and was "are you effing kidding". I rec'd the canopy back in 22 days. They made me feel like that my canopy was the only one there getting fixed. That impressed me with such a large company. nuf said

Who's saving up for New gear this spring!?!?
firstime replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

we all have to get with the program to understand who is responsible for the lower fatality rate. It's not just one organization, it's us as a group, THIS FORUM is a huge factor with a ocean of information. Yes the USPA is our mouth piece but we are them. So lets keep up our vigilance and work on the impossible "0".

set up a little early, I think Eloy is about 1500 ft asl and rarely have winds. I went 2 yrs ago and on my 1st jump of the week I overshot the landing area (I was moving faster than I was used to) and yup the desert is as hard as concrete. I was out for the 1st 3 days of my trip therefore I was forced to drink while licking my wounds. All in all its a great place to go and looking forward to the next trip. Enjoy & bring some good running shoes

I read numerous posts about "what canopy is the best" and now that I am in the market for new nylon I thought I would search the forums rather than post. I have come to the conclusion that you will not get your answers here. Everyone has a different opinion on every canopy made. The ones that do 500+ jumps a season CAN tell the small differences from one to the next. I have seen every type of canopy at my DZ with all doing different types of flying. All the canopies that I have flown (demo'd) got me to the ground safe, small different in flare, turns & stall. Now that I have rambled on, just because a canopy is $500 cheaper does not mean you are going to burn in. I am going to do my homework about materials and craftmanship prior to buying...
