Thank you, Your response to my inquiry was what I was looking for, which was "is this a valid question". The reason I presented this question was from my own experience, hence .... people always talking about downsizing. Hey try a downwind,.. maybe it might scare the bejesus out of them and stick with their current canopy............ Food for thought

IMPORTANT: Dropzone.com Management Announcement

no flaming, just a general ?.. swooping is the ability to fly your canopy for as long as you can at an increased speed along the ground. you are flying your (mine) 170 sabre 1:1, then decide to do a down wind, my speed has increased and now I have to keep it flying for a much longer time waiting for it to shut down. I know my canopy characterictics prior to set up. I am not looking to downsize by any means but the down wind gave me one rude awakening therefore would this be a suggestion /alternative to downsizing.... just to give an idea what you might be up against

I think I am on a different page, I would leave the main in the d bag and repack it prior to jumping it
-
I always take my main out before reserve repack, it's easier for the rigger. As far as your main I would repack it, 1 year is a bit of a long time, then again thats me. just my opinion, but then again opinions are like assholes everyone has one

Psychological issues of a students first free fall

looking at the bottom of the plane upon exit always put me in check during AFF. It worked for me and others who have had a problem with stability upon exit. Just like the "your head will follow" in a track, when you look up your body will arch. Emphasis must be exercised not to look up for any length of time other than getting stable. -

Also failed level 4, It would make me laugh out load when my instructor would say "relax" I would reply" are you fu%^ing kidding me" I am jumping out of an airplane and my mind and body is saying WTF. My instructor went on to say unless you chill out it won't get easier. And I tried it..."smart ass" she knew what she was talking about. I am still laughing, but it works.

I have a hospital income policy that pays me $250 per day in the event that I am in the hospital overnight. It pays up to 365 days, and if I go into the ER ( not overnight) it pays 5x that amount $1000. I am 52 yrs old and it cost me $250 /year. It does not exclude anything including skydiving. My health ins covers my injuries but this policy covers my loss of wages. I'll never cancel this coverage.

Does the risk eventually catch up to everyone?
firstime replied to Megatron's topic in Safety and Training
Stats are great for sports records only. If I lived my life according to stats, I would be living in a bubble. I do things according to my own decision, I know the risk, abide by the safety rules & do things by the book. If all goes bad and I die it's called "fate". People who don't go by the rules are a single digit in the stats. As you can see I did not mention skydiving -
