  1. i have done so many in air practice handle touches that if I couldnt see them I would be able to pull either handle without seeing them. I usually run my hand down the shoulder harness on every jump and it's pretty much memory at this point. Granted there is some limited visibilty with my mamba but not enough for me not being able to pull. To see your handles is a major plus but in a high speed mal, and a visual is not an option go to the muscle memory. Just me using plan B
  2. Similar to going to my Dads casket at 7 years old (my choice not my Moms) and now at 51 my memory is still very vivid. I witnessed a near fatal wrap at the Ranch and turned my head away just prior impact only because if it was a fatal accident my last memory would have been having a beer with her the night before, not the impact. She did deploy her reserve in the nick of time. I can't imagine watching a friend going in and I am sorry for those who have.
  3. I understand your point, but you are getting a little extreme with the splat thingy with a 500' difference in my alti from anothers. I am not base jumping and I DO have a clue even without my alti when to deploy. It was a simple question that you turned into a lecture to a 4 yr old. the question was directed to Bill Vance
  4. nice post Jim, muscle memory, muscle memory
  5. Twice along the way, he noticed his altimeter was 500 feet off the next guy's, and both times he adjusted (NEVER DO THIS!!). I have on occasion noticed my alti different from other jumpers, not just one but maybe 2 or 3 and have adjusted, with the group I am jumping with. Why should I not do this.. I have had my alti replaced 2 times in 5 years. I read & listen quite a bit so please elaborate
  6. I will give it my best mate..
  7. 87 jumps and you are that perspective.... good job... it was a funny piece
  8. hey bigway, thanks for the reply, sounds like a great alternative as I was was getting some negative results with the other system. We will "bench test" this and if it works I will... I am going on record now.. send you a "pint or a case" of your fancy.
  9. Eat your wheaties that morning Rich, 40 jumps is a long day. We will bring the golf cart out to you after the last jump with a nice cold green. Looking foward to a productive day. Hey all, try to come out and make just one jump, we need a bunch of people in case Richy needs to be carried to the plane to complete his promise as he is getting up in age...DOH I'm in deep Sh#t now
  10. I think Rare dynamics makes this product. My question is can the voices be transmitted to the ground hence be transmitted to public radio. We are doing a fund raiser and one of the guys@ the radio station will do a tandem and thought that a live voice would be pretty interesting to the listeners. Just trying to add some glitz to the event.
  11. looking at the body positions, could that have resulted in a fatal side spin???
  12. then one choice to find the reserve cable, or try to reach behind (unlikely) worth a shot and if that doesnt work well as they say " you have 15 seconds to learn how to fly & the rest of your life to think about it" & pray for the cypress IF YOU HAVE ONE
  13. yup. know your beer pain . look at my screen name. I would bring beer on the way out to the DZ just to save me a trip, every time I went for the first two years
  14. QuoteYes that is one option. But my question is would that or would that not work with pulling on the rsl.[/reply my guess is yes but then again it's your last option so it doesnt really matter if works or not]
  15. Good for you, it's your turn in life and your old enough and much smarter so go for it, I am no spring chicken either but I started late in life also, I paid my dues and I am enjoying every minute. Life is not a dirt dive, it's a real skydive
  16. Good job Rich, a ton of people are jumping in here, WABC radio is going to help, channel 12 news.... and here it goes............ Richy Said that he would take Joel Santistban from WABC on a tandem jump. This should be super fun event with a monumental cause.
  17. I took your advice this morning and crunched some #'s and wah la it worked
  18. put it over your head for 10 minutes... if you die,it's still good my understanding is that if you can push your thumb thru it.. it's done??
  19. put some wire inside to make it inflated, then put a light bulb inside for a makeshift hanging light fixture for the outside patio. Good conversation piece
  20. my guess is that teaching is not your main source of income
  21. The charity is going towards " make a wish" because we already have a weekend set aside for breast cancer. I am sure that we will do well with both
