  1. Welcome to the forums. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. It may cost $2700, but when you pay as you go it won't seem that way. Here is a tip. Learn to pack this winter. DZs always can use packers! Then you can help pay for your jumps that way, plus you'll be ahead of the game when it comes to earning your A license. I know a jumper who has 100+ jumps and can't pack! Obviously she packed once to pass her profeciantcy card, but never packed again. I say ... learn to pack during this winter. It will prove valuable in so many ways. Welcome to the sky!
  2. Welcome to our world. Now you know why birds sing!
  3. Really? From 1980 - 2005 (in those 25 years there was one democratic president, Slick Willy. for 8 years) In fact he is the only democratic president to appoint a SC justice since LBJ. The truth is Republican presidents nominated some liberal and moderate SC justices.
  4. I didn't mean that negatively, just that skydiving is so addictive, most of us spend all our spare money on jumps, gear or ratings. Welcome to the sport!

    Age?

Started: 22 (military - then grounded myself for 20 years to raise kids - now I'm making up for lost time.) Now: 50+
  6. Say hello to the sky and good-bye to your spare $. You are now entering a very addictive sport.
  7. 855 jumps, and all but about 15 have been out of a Cessna. When I went to Dallas, the shoe was on the other foot. I had to closely watch everyone to see what I was supposed to do. I wish we had a King Air, just the right size IMHO.
  8. Whoo hoo! And I didn't even have to ask you to do that!
  9. Libby Riddles did it before Susan, and she did it by going out into a storm when everyone was hunkered down. She didn't go far, but she got an edge both in distance and pysche.
  10. Must be something in the air. This is from the same weekend, several states over. And yes, I had my gatorz on too. Light was not turned on at the DZ. Hard landing on my stiletto ... ooof! Also this one taken earlier and the day was a good advertisement for the DZ (plane numbers and all)
  11. If it taste good ... spit it out!
  12. Give credit to skydivevideo.info and go right ahead. They are there for entertainment purpose only. I'm not making money off them. PS send me a link to your site.

  17. It's a bizzaro cartoon by Dan Piararo. Here is his web page. Maybe it will be there. http://www.bizarro.com/
  18. awesome looking helmet! I tried painting my first one or two, but now, it's just stickers for me. But if I could paint one to look like that!! I'd try again!
  19. The firewire input on my Sony simply went bad. I gave ito my daughter and had to buy another one. Bummer!
  20. Yeah, you're right, "never say never". At least now i appreciate why swoopers swoop.
  21. is he 50??!! I'm a little more brittle than before. However, "I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm good once, as I ever was!" -Toby Keith
  22. I'm a conservative canopy pilot. I have 850+ jumps, most were video. I weigh about 235. I've been flying a Sabre 190 for the last 750+ jumps. I have a PRO rating. But I recently purchased a Stiletto 150 after jumping other stiletto 150s (DZO's) along with my 190 on busy days. I love the speed of this canopy in the sky, and the way it turns with minimal input. I fly what I call a conservative landing, turning 90 degrees to build a little more speed and usually hit the X (as I did with my Sabre 190), but a lot faster. Now I seriously doubt whether I will ever be a swooper. Being 50 years old and having one good eye makes me think that is not wise. But I love the speed in the sky and the landing is more fun too. But now reading the swoop forums makes a little more sense. /rambling
