LOL...well, I usually try to stay far, far away from threads where skydivers discuss fashion. Also, most every woman has her own ideas about fashion. It's not for me to judge. One more thing...I do adore vintage clothing, Bobbi. Thanatos~ I agree that pricey clothing for teens is not necessary. Tell your daughter that she could always throw in some vintage,thrift-store or Harajuku-type pieces of clothing, along with one pricier item, like Gwen does, and create her own unique look. If she's a fan of Gwen Stefani, then she must realize that vintage/thrift store finds would be more authentic to Gwen's look than buying a specific designer's clothing. I had my own personal style and wore a lot of vintage at age 14, and it was a way to expresss myself, that was different than the other girls.

Don't worry about "going there" with Nautical themes for the spring because there are always several themes that us designers put out there for our customers each season. In case you're wondering how we all end up with the similar trends and themes, we all use certain fashion forecasting systems directly from Europe/around the world within the industry as a base for our lines' directional creativity. (Personally, I also love to look at Japanese street fashion for myself, even if I don't use it.) Anyway, trend reports are tried and true, although we each have our ideas of what WE want to see out there and why. Even couture designers heavily rely on trend forecasting as a base, although we (designers) all, of course, love to try new ideas depending on what is happening in the world, society, art/theatre subcultures, etc. My advice for anyone regarding fashion and clothes is don't worry too much about being "in fashion", just go with your personal style. You probably look great just as you are, as long as you feel comfortable with yourself.

I don't iron my jeans (?), but I do wash AND dry them often, of course. Some of the pricier jeans, like Seven for All Mankind, for instance, do remain quite stiff, no matter what. Good quality jeans fit better and look better for longer. One of the reasons is because jeanwear companies use different finishes or not, which can affect how much memory the jean has, its stiffness, etc. Not all jeans are created equally. That said, I love the feel of warm jeans against my legs when I take them straight out of the dryer.
