  1. Ah Come on man, just let me be a prude!! =========Shaun ==========
  2. I dont' get it - I CANNOT read one of those without busting up. When I first read these jokes, I was cruizing DZ.com in the middle of Engineering Econ Clas - Man Did I ever lose it. .... =========Shaun ==========
  3. I dunno. You can skydive and Drink an Energy Drink at the Same time... Those who have tried that With beer have, been, well, may they rest in peace... =========Shaun ==========
  4. Livin' the Dream.... [can of worms] I think the sport would be WAAAY better if people stopped trying to make a million dollars and just jumped their asses off... [/can of worms] =========Shaun ==========
  5. I think the second you THINK you know what you are doing, that's when the trouble starts happening. =========Shaun ==========
  6. Unstable's Predictions to make skydiving last well into the next century. 1 - Find a good Club-style Dropzone. 2- Refer your friends, word of mouth. 3. Jump your ass off whenever you can. 4. Have a good 8-5 Job, and don't take anything away from the sport. I am a rigger, and all I make rigging, after expenses, goes into skydiving some way or another. =========Shaun ==========
  7. LOL! I've always wanted to see that. =========Shaun ==========
  8. It's all good - Spectre's are nice wings - I have about 30 jumps on one..Give yourself some time and show those newbies what that 210 can do.... =========Shaun ==========
  9. I got a lot of buddies that like to hang out in their garages because it the only place their wives will let them smoke.... =========Shaun ==========
  10. Thank you. Wow - 4 years of University DID pay off!! What I'm confused about is the 6-way with a 182... =========Shaun ==========
  11. Okay, I'm seriously confused....Explain? =========Shaun ==========
  12. Hey - doesn't that place have a Caravan during the Summer full time? I might be Crazy, but if you do, I think I have a bunch of jumps out of that Caravan. Could it be that AIrcraft is the limiting factor? What does your current DZ jump? =========Shaun ==========
  13. I wonder what DZO's are really doing these days to target High school seniors and young people? Logically, those are the people who will become the next generation of skydivers... =========Shaun ==========
  14. Ya know Brian, arn't you jumping a reserve I did for you? Are you going to cutaway anytime soon?
  15. Okay, without opening a can of worms, I am looking for some opinions. The happiest and healthiest dropzones I see seem to me, to have a wide and diverse customer base - and I want to hear what experienced jumper have to say about their own home dropzones. For example, some obnoxious places are interested in Tandems, thank you very much. They fill their little bug-beater with first-timers strapped to someone else, and that economy fuels their operations. I've been to a few dropzones where there were only students - no Tandems, not really any fun jumpers, just students, and that's all the DZO is interested in. I've been to a few dropzones (one that I know of went under....) that hardly had a tandem or student operation at all! Just fun jumpers, load after load after load. I would imagine that a healthy dropzone would need a happy mix of all three to survive...Tandems to pay for the plane, students to keep the dropzone busy and ensure a busy tomorrow, and upjumpers to fly the hell out of the plane and make a good atmosphere to foster our sport to the next generation.... Well, in your opinion, how is your Dropzone?! I think KSUPC is a nice happy mix - we limit ourselves to no more than 4 tandems a day, but we are heavier in students than most other dropzones, and our up jumper base is always ready to meet the next load. However, I think we would be happier if our FJC's were a bit more full, we need to all chip in and make sure our club has enough $ to pay for the unexpected. =========Shaun ==========
  16. I'm not rocket scientist, but I was under the impression that MANY conglomorates can share one satelites capibilities. =========Shaun ==========
  17. Thank you - that explains a lot. I See a LOT of PT-6's at work, but I've never considered how they operate. I'm going downstairs to see for myself! =========Shaun ==========
  18. It's happened before, and It'll happen again if DZO's allow that stuff on their premesis during, before, or after hours. Off the DZ, then it's too hard to peg, but on the airport, that's serious schiznit... =========Shaun ==========
  19. I'm sorry - I was refering to some things that are....a little bit....harder....
  20. I really have no patience for that nonsense. Drug abuse at the DZ has hurt our sport, our image, claimed lives, and run Dropzones into the ground. (Don't believe me? I'll get you in touch with a former DZO friend of mine who's DZ lost everything because of drugs right after he bailed out and sold it.) There really should be a zero-tolerance policy. Do drugs at my DZ, then Audios Amigo. I went to a boogie once where the DZO spent a good deal of $ to bring in a well-known Freefly organizer for coaching and organizing - he was the highlight of the boogie. Guess what I saw him do after the party that evening got going... I would never hire him. =========Shaun ==========
  21. I really like Tm's when I'm at work - I can carry on a semi-intelligent conversation without letting my Boss' know that I'm talking to my friends. The only thing that bugs me about TM's is Text spam I get from the phone company. before I signed up for a text plan, I was paying some .15 per message sent or recieved. I kept telling Alltell to NOT send me text spam, and I kept on getting them. The thing that bugs me is that I had to PAY to get spam! Now I'm on a plan for $2.50 a month, so it doesn't bug me, but I think it's criminal to send you unwanted junk and make you pay Text fees for it. =========Shaun ==========
  22. I'm sorry for sounding ignorant, but coud someone please explain to me what a FOD seperator and a inertial serarator does and how they function? =========Shaun ==========
  23. Excuse me - I'm being vague because I didn't want to go into great detail as to what the malfunction was. The instructor was watching from the airplane and visually saw the pilotchute leave the container. Whether or not is was a pilot chute in tow, or a pilot chute hesitation, we don't know. We do know that the student looked over his shoulder, saw nothing, and initialed his emergency procedures imediatly. This would be describing PCIT. HOWEVER, the main canopy was found out of the bag, slider hlafway down, relativly close the the freebag. This makes us think that deployment was initiated almost instantly before the student cutaway. He was not away of any snatch force or signs of the canopy opening, but he did exaclty what he was trained to do; count to five and check over his right shoulder. The JM from the aircraft did not see any signs of main deployment, but a blink of an eye he could have missed it easily. Perhaps the reserve opening shifted the material in the continer around and allowed the main bag to release? Perhaps the student, when checking his canopy, allowed the PC to clear the burble and begin deployment before he cutaway via an SOS handle. I think both of these are 2 very likely possibilities which unfortunatly, we are lacking clues to figure out what really happened. I was just happy for the student, that he was able to do exactly what he was trained. Sir, what are you implying? Because I don't elaborate the cause adn explain it fully, you assume incompetency? =========Shaun ==========
  24. I'm not a big fan of it at all; Look, most DZ's walk on thin wires with their airport board. We are lucky to have a good relationship, but the last thing our sport needs is a bunch of MIP or MIC charges to reflect poorly on us.... =========Shaun ==========
