  1. That's Gay. What work? 911 Operator? ER Doctor? Emergency Vet? Why work on saturday?!! Does your boss hate you? =========Shaun ==========
  2. Winds, thunder, lightening, but I did get to take up 3 loads of First jumpers yesterday evening, so it's not a total loss.....
  3. As I've been trying to find out about different jumpships, I have done some research on the Cherokee 6-300, and I wanted to see if anybody has had any experience with them or knew much about them being used as jumpships. Initially, it seems like a good idea. Low buy price (approx. $70,000 for a relatively new used one..), WIDE airframe, and best of all, big cargo door in the back.... It seems comparable to a 206, but I haven't heard of many of them flying jumpers - what is the deal with them? Is there some significant drawback as a DZO if you are operating with one? =========Shaun ==========
  4. I attend most to all of the midwest boogies - Hillbilly, Redemption, WFFC, Couch Freaks, KSUPC, whatever is boogying within an 8'hour drive. I have most of my costs down pat, and I can almost always have a good time on $500. I budget about $100 for food and travel. I do it cheap; Lunch meat in a cooler, "Big-K" soda, et cetera. I sleep in my car or in a tent, and I don't buy stupid shit. The rest is for jump tickets. $400 is a touch less than 20 jumps, and if I make less than that, I usually top it off with a Tshirt or something. =========Shaun ==========
  5. Huh. I'm pretty damn "wired" when I come home from a good boogie, usually give the girlfriend a run for her money....
  6. Hell yeah! I'm all for equal rights!! The posts here are right.. Most women don't know they are cunts if they are being one... =========Shaun ==========
  7. 0:1:0 This week was a bummer. I took a load of First Jumpers up at 7:30 AM just RIGHT before the winds started howling for the day. About 2 hours later I went up, then rode the plane back down after someone radioed up that the winds were gusting between 15 and 35. =========Shaun ==========
  8. Gosh, too many to name, but here are a top few for me... - Ferris Buler. Enough Said. - Short Circuit. - Total recall =========Shaun ==========
  9. Dude, Trust me, I've had this argument with myself many a time. Altitude induced divorce syndrome, I've managed to loose a girl or two because they've asked me to stop jumping. Anywho - This is my .02. You are in the market to find a gal who loves you, right? Why would someone, who loves you, tell you not to jump, if it makes you so happy? Granted, you need to pay attention to her,but you'll find your happy medium in there somewhere. Don't feel bad man, just keep on keepin on.
  10. Methinks it's true, but perhaps you could include the airlines who are sitting on the banks yelling directions to everyone in the canoes, and them obeying to a T! =========Shaun ==========
  11. We are a club run DZ, so there is no DZO/DZM, but I'm on the Board so I'll answer for our club... We usually turn 15-20 loads per day no problem, and our's is pretty doggy. However, we do fly the hell out of that bird. We MEET THE PLANE, have a pit crew for quicker fuel-ups, and just try to jump as much as we can. 22 during the summer when we start earlier is about the average for those long summer days. =========Shaun ==========
  12. I've heard stories about the C210's wing bladders - is there some sort of problem with them that a skydiver should know about? You have to admit, the initial buy price is quite a bit lower than a 206.... =========Shaun ==========
  13. So Screwed up - I'm no expert, but doesn't this remove the entire response/stimuli learning that babies need to fuse little neurons together? God save us when this generation grows up to take care of our generation in our age... =========Shaun ==========

    Spectre?

I Agree - comparing a 7-Cell to a 9-Cell is kinda like comparing apples to Oranges. Personally, I've had a good 300 jumps on various 7-celled canopies (Spectre, PD193, Triathlon, and Synergy) and I felt the Spectre Performed Very well. I flew it at about 1.3ish, and it had snappy turns and was really easy to land. I liked how it's shorter arc recovery length would make it a touch harder to put yourself in a corner with. There a a few folks at my DZ that spend a good amount of time warning prospective canopy buyers to steer far far away from anythinig 7-cells - and I just tell younger jumper to try it out and see what they think - there is nothing wrong with a spectre. =========Shaun ==========
  15. Do you live in Wichita? I'm sure you heard steam come out in the papers and such... =========Shaun ==========
  16. I think you were on the Van before or After me. I was the seond group out doing a 3 or 4-way belly - 3 groups went then the pilot hit red and did a go around. what was funny was how all the loads for monday afternoon were named "Green Means go - Jackass", "Go On Green- Fucker" or something of the sorts. =========Shaun ==========
  17. I worked with Cessna for 4 months and trust me - they will fight it. Their weekly paper, The Cessnan had almost weekly article encouraging employees to write in to their Senators and protest, and explaining why this bill would hurt their Company. Right now, Cessna has a 60% market share on business and personal Aircraft, and they WILL fight it tooth and nail. In one article, they mentioned a TV commercial that was played in 2 major NY airport hubs blaming the delays on private aircraft. They filed a complait with them for false advertising and the airline had to withdraw their ad and make a quasi-apology. I think We can count on Cessna, Hawker-Beechcraft, and some of the other for major support. =========Shaun ==========
  18. HA!!! Were you on Skyvan 6 (I was on that one- second group out) or Otter 7? Both got totally hosed due to the first group out disagreeing with the spot. =========Shaun ==========
  19. Congrats man!! Hey, BTW, what kind of jumpship does your DZ use? =========Shaun ==========
  20. I guess you had to be there man - I think I should have phrased it better too - It's just basic spotting skills. Your right, don't get out at a bad spot - but you need to take into consideration the rest of the load... =========Shaun ==========

    Couchfreaks

Great Boogie Freaks! You run one helluva show! =========Shaun ==========
  22. This is a problem at Midwest Boogies. It seems every year at Freaks there is some yokel who tries to correct the pilot and ends up screwing everyone on the load up the tailpipe. It always suprised me to hear turbine babies sound upset at that idea. Comeon - just pull off the step!!
  23. Fuck the Airlines. From an Industrial Engineering. Perspective, they run a horrible show. Just NOW are they starting to employ engineering techniques to efficiently run their resources, and their business methodology, NOT the Nation's airways, is holding them back. It's not rocket science, their business management as a whole is 50's ear, and even US airlines are taking a beating from Foreign competitors, even on local routes!! Total bullshit - they are in trouble and want to throw their massive debt onto the general aviation sector to save their skins, regardless of the consequences. =========Shaun ==========
  24. Screw you guys. First off, 65 is too damn slow of a speed limit for divided 4-lane highways. Second - Don't tailgate me until you push me to go 75 on a divided interstate and nab for for 75 in a 65 zone and stick me with a $102 contribution to your crappy county. Other than that - Freak was amazing.
