See I just didn't get that point when I saw the movie - and I fear that most movie-goers didn't get it either. The isolation feeling was there, but then again, if you are going to develop the Darkseekers as much as they did, then they simple need to elaborate and show them and their habits more. Perhaps a small clip from between the time that his family died to the present would have done it - and maybe something showing their behaviours amongst themselves. =========Shaun ==========

Whether or not you agree with the cases filed against the RIAA, I was cruising some of the related websites and found the site www.p2plawsuits.com where people who are caught are directed to to settle before any law suits begin. They have a FAQ section which I found very interesting. I thought the answers to all of the questions were IMHO intimidation and condescending, but that's just me. I guess in their mind, they are talking down to someone just as you would talk down to an ordinary thief. Some seemed overly dramatic.... These just seem dramatic..... =========Shaun ==========

There was just a clip about the whole thing a day or two ago on NPR. (I'm a nerd, so what....) Anyways, the agent assigned to the case was talking about how weird it was to be on a case that her first heard of when he was a child. He described it as "eerie." Anyways, IF Cooper is still alive, he's probably in a rest home with a hip that's been acting up since he hijacked the plane. I can't help but wonder why the Government is spending the time and $$ for a case fossilized long ago. =========Shaun ==========

I agree 100% with you on that one. I thought it was an Amazing movie, and the only thing I would suggest is that they went into the relationships with the Darkseetkers a little more. Remember when he chased Sam into the Building and found the "Hive." Or what about how they seemed to "Socially Degress" as Smith said into his tape recorder in his basement? Or even a bit more into the Dark Seekers more than just the invasion of his house. WAAAY cool, I would like to have seen more of them... =========Shaun ==========

Hell, I'll resurrect this thread because many of us are just getting back. I just woke up from recovering from the 20+ hour drive, but it was worth it!! We competed in Collegiate Nationals as well happening at the same time, and we had 2 place form Kstate, including myself in Master's sport accuracy. The 31st was a bit on the chilly side, but it warmed up each day and by the time we left it was warm and beautiful. =========Shaun ==========

I wonder what would happen if I started a "Top 10 Worst Dz" Thread. Part of me thinks that it might spawn a lot of good discussion on what goes into a good DZ as long as people put in reasonable points as to why they didn't like that dropzone. Then again, it would probably be locked and I would be labeled a troll. Anyone wanna try it?

Straight guys: Be honest. Do you *enjoy* giving oral to a woman?
Unstable replied to waltappel's topic in The Bonfire
Hell, I know that I'm joining the discussion late - But I gotta say that I just love it. A nicely groomed, clean to semi area to work on and if it's my love on the receiving end, then I'm all for it. I love to wake her up in the middle of the night like that - she's never objected. -
Look, this thread is complicated enough - so Excluding my home dropzone, including both Turbine and Cessna DZ's, and I'll even give reason why I think they belong on my list. To keep it simple - I'll give my Top 3 DZ's. - Skydive Dallas: Their Upjumper accommodations are exquisite. Free Bunk rooms up above, 2 large CLEAN packing areas, really friendly staff, and they have my two favorite airplanes, a Caravan and Tw'Otter. I've taken students down there, and I've worked with their staff on helping finish their progression with our coaches and instructors we've bussed down there. I like the little balcony they have, and it just has a "small home DZ feel" while keeping up all the perks of Big DZ living. This is my favorite Dropzone. Freefall Express, Mt Vernon, MO: Okay, I've been here a few times, I've attended all their boogies, and made the 5+ hour drive a few times just to go see people up there. They run a good show up there, and it is a Cessna DZ, although when I first jumped there they had a part time King Air. Just a REALLY friendly vibe from everybody, and they fly the hell out of those 2 cessna's they have. Eloy - I'm here right now. I love it. I know a lot of the staff, Larry is on helluva guy to just go up and talk to, and it's amazing for me to see such a big dropzone bend over backwards to accomodate each and every skydiver. =========Shaun ==========

So who is going to do the religious "thing"
Unstable replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire

My Numero Uno Pet peeve is people using the word "I", "me", "my" "Mine" in team based projects. I think that is a subtle clue towards the inside of what makes that person tick. I had to rate a few speakers last night at a conference and I gave everyone who did that a big fat zero. =========Shaun ==========

I agree, that something there is a stigma that because Liberals are for abortion {or pick your issue} you can't be a good Mormon and Democrate. However your statement is false - There are, and have been prominent leaders in the church and in government who are Democrats. If what you say is true, then they would have been released, excommunicated, disfellowshipped, et cetera for their political beliefs. Many of these men hold High positions in the church and they are good members, and they serve their country according to the dictates of their own conscience and not what Salt Lake tells them. =========Shaun ==========

I think this is one of the most intelligent things said in this thread. The LDS Church makes very few political stands, and it is against church policy to use the buildings, the contact lists, or any of their resources for political purposes. There are Democrat Mormons and Republicans, it doesn't make you any less of a believer. i'm sorry to hear that Kelpdiver had a bad experience with the Missionaries. Sometimes, they may get a little overzealous, but the same can be said for more evangelical groups. They are trained to speak and ask direct questions, and sometimes a polite direct answer may be the best method. "I'm sorry boys, but I'm really not interested today." This is for another thread, but I have a copy of the manual that the missionaries use to direct their work, and hasseling people is not part of the programme. I may or may not vote for ol' Mitt, but it certainly won't be because he's a Mormon. =========Shaun ==========

Let's look at it from the viewpoint of the Cessna Aircraft Corporation. This is nothing new to them. Their business has been plagued with people suing them for shit like this. A notable case I read about in the book The Legends of Cessna talked about a case where Cessna lost millions due to a lawsuit following a crash in the mid 70's cause by a pilot flying until he ran out of fuel. I know Cessna - I've worked for them. I've worked on the Caravan line. They make a good airplane. I think this is a situation I would start arguing for tort reform, but that is another SC thread. =========Shaun ==========

I don't know what to say - I am just more than impressed with the Parachutist lately! I particularly love the "Getting up there" articles on various skydiving aircraft... =========Shaun ==========

Judge won't be charged over gun she took to airport
Unstable replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm glad she didn't get charged, but I agree that the reasons for not charging her might be fucked up. So the woman must have checked her brain and brought her gun. Oups. If there is enough evidence to show that she had no intent, and probably didn't even know she had it, then I support letting her go scoot free. OTOH, if you let her off because it's the law scratching the law's back, then that is straight up wrong. =========Shaun ========== -
Unfortunately my GF comes from a rich Texas lifestyle where "Guys don't drive Cars-" and the logic boggles my mind. I think that if you use them for a good reason, then I'm all for them. If you use it as a status symbol to show off how man you are, then you need to grow some balls.

Tandem Factories advertising on DZ.com

Ah, that explains it. I kinda assumed that they were forking out $$ to have their names up pop up there. =========Shaun ========== -
Tandem Factories advertising on DZ.com
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Does anybody else find this a little curious? Why would DZ's which cater to tandems and tandem dollars only, pay to put ads up in the forums of DZ.com? Do many pre-tandem people cruize the forums looking for a place to jump? Do those who do want to do tandem at a tandem factory, or would they do better places where they would have a better chance at a good student progression.... =========Shaun ========== -
I just don't see anything in Hilary that makes me think that she is in touch with the American Voter. I don't have the quote, and If some people will disregard my post because of it, so be it. But as a Senior In High School, Hillary wrote an essay on her dreams. Her answer - To Marry a Senator. Granted, her dreams and goals have expanded since then, but the person remains. I don't see Hillary as anything more than an angry, power hungry woman. I tend to swing right wing on many issues, Abortion, gun control, and economy policy control. In my book, she's batting a Zero. Many things she does I kinda like. Heath Care needs SOME attention, and she might have an idea or two on how to straighten social security, but when it comes down to it, I just don't like her. This post was hard to write. =========Shaun ==========

Neighbor Guns Down Robbers with Shotgun while on with 911
Unstable replied to Zipp0's topic in Speakers Corner
Nobody knows what happened in the street that day, but I do know this from the dispatch tape... It is pretty clear to me from this statement that when Mr. Horn left his house, he had no other intents other than to shoot to kill. I'm all for the rights of citizens to arm themselves and protect their property, with deadly force if necessary. I am a member of the NRA, and I have never seen a post of yours I have not agreed with. My point, is that Mr.Horn was playing vigilante, and if he did leave his house with no intents other then to shoot to kill, then he was wrong. Period. If he is going to take the law into his own hands, he needs to have the same standards. If a police officer breaks and enters a drug house with the intention of killing all those inside, and does so, then it warrants an investigation. if those inside are a threat, then he has the right, and the duty to defend himself. If they didn't pose an immediate threat, and he still shoots to kill, this is wrong. =========Shaun ==========
