People who try hard to set a good example and help the sport grow by encouraging students and low timers, welcoming them on loads, offering opinions on gear. A great Skydiver is someone who will jump with anybody, (safely, that is. What is the Opposite of that? Get 1,000 jumps and then come talk to me. . =========Shaun ==========

Fuck it. The list starts here. I'm tired of being good and pretending to do so. I say the list starts here! Any attractive/hot sky gals are welcome to volunteer their services and/or buttocks to the cause!!! Who else needs / wants a spanking?!? Unstable =========Shaun ==========

I used to have a Cypres 1. I tried to memorize the damn serial number - but I never could. It was like 346512 FC 2348632 BC 39391985 AD 20389586 - 23 I hated writting those stoopid things when I made new packing data cards for customers. I never could write small enough... =========Shaun ==========

The floor of a Major Aircraft Manufacturing Company I worked for as an Engineering contractor. I really wanted to swing on by the DZ for a sunset load, so I went to a secluded spot used for short term storage and packed up! =========Shaun ==========

That's Brilliant. I need that. I turn the stoopid alarm off in my sleep all the time. I never remember it either... =========Shaun ========== -
You mean the loop material Cypres provides you? All, what, 1 meter of it. Thanks Airtec. =========Shaun ==========

Yeah, I agree. If done right, a chest rating takes just as much, if not more, than the other two ratings. I say more because most packers are not familiar with Round canopies at all. The only thing would be is if some DPRE decided it would be a good idea to lax his standards and more or less give a chest rating away.... and that's just sad.. =========Shaun ==========

This is terrible. If anything, the WFFC was a great way for our sport in general to centralize the accumulated knowledge and advancements - new gear demos, canopy demonstrations, seminars, rigging workshops, et cetera. What do we have now. The Pia Synopsium? =========Shaun ==========

Cool, thanks for the Info JD. If you go to their Website, Here, you'll see they haven't had any new news since 1997. I liked the Astra too. I've never had one, but I've packed a few. I like it because it seems rugged, not a flimsy plastic box like a Cypres. Does anyone know if FXC is even moving these units anymore? =========Shaun ==========

Skydiving Gear Financing - Revisited
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is a good point. Obviously this is how most gear dealers think, and I agree that in many cases, it's just practical. I look at companies like Para-Service , which offers whole kit ' kaboodles for great prices. I'd bet that it would just be one step to help sell their wares if jumpers could make a 2-step process a 1-step process... Plus we would be keeping our money in an industry we like. =========Shaun ========== -
Yeah dude, what are you doing on your puter? Go get us our tail number for our new twin otter you found for us..... =========Shaun ==========

Not departing til Saturday? What a shame, just sitting there. Why don't you just borrow it and bring it on by, probably won't miss it. We'll buy the guys some pizza to say thanks. =========Shaun ==========

Hey Gang, I know that this subject has been beaten to a bloody pulp, so without getting into the "which AAD is better?" I want to discuss a few practical points about the Astra AAD and it's future. A few weeks ago, when I ordered my new Argus, I was talking with the Dealer about how many Argus's and Vigils he's sold. Pretty impressive numbers actually, especially when compared to the sales of Cypres. For a long time time, I, as well as probably many of us with Cypres's maintenance program and the $ involved - and the Astra never really made it as a viable alternative. Now, with the acceptance of the Argus and Vigil, I wonder what is the future of the Astra? Is it even profitable for FXC to manufacture them? Do they have a military contract? Do they even make them anymore? Can anybody think of a reason one would buy one?! =========Shaun ==========

Skydiving Gear Financing - Revisited
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Your financing plan sounds like a good way to get shot... =========Shaun ========== -
Just because you park "in" the lines doesn't mean you're not a bonehead. Have you ever seen a spot rendered useless because on either side is a massive SUV up as close as possible to your white line as possible. Sure, you can get in, but good luck opening your door. I support the idea.

Skydiving Gear Financing - Revisited
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Jumpers, I brought this up almost a year ago, and the consensus was "Let's wait and see what happens in the market", so after 1 year, I'm revisiting the subject for further discussion. Hopefully what we discuss here can be useful to new jumpers trying to get into the sport. How are gear companies coming along in plans to offer financing plans for new gear? Logically, it makes sense. Gear is to many people, prohibitively expensive. A new system can cost just as much as a motorcycle, and a motorcycle company would be crazy for not offering financing plans. Do any companies offer financing? If so, then what companies and on what contracts? =========Shaun ========== -
Maybe it's a girl gorilla with an alternative lifestyle!??! =========Shaun ==========
