Sometimes When I'm really depressed from not jumping (Usually if I haven't jumped in over a week or so) I'll put on my rig, altimeter, and helmet, sit on the floor of the car and make airplane noises. I'll even pretend to fight against the wind as I open the tailgate to my Station Wagon/Skyvan. =========Shaun ==========

Oh, about 6 days. It's terrible, I'm alreay going through withdrawl - I've lost half my teeth an all I can do is sit and stare off at the wall. Hmm, let see, it's been about 1 and 1/2 months since my last TURBINE jump, that alone will cause mild rigor mortis in most jumpers.... =========Shaun ==========

Hmmm, here is my rant. You KNOW in your heart whether or not your going to be a skydiver or not. From your post and your excitment, I'm guessing this is going to be a great journey for you. As you progress in your jumping career, you find your own likes and dislikes, and you will form your own habits and styles - many of this on your first 200 jumps. Since you are still learning and growing then, My advice for you would be to save the extra $$ and buy your first rig used. (plus, you may decide to downsize after your first 30-300 jumps). Buy used, see what you like and what you really want from this sport, THEN blow the bank and buy new. Blue skies, =========Shaun ==========

I have no problem with them, my last 20 jumps or so have been in Tevas. For me, they make it a lot easier to get my booties off under canopy. However, last year about this time, I went Unstable (As I often do, hence the name) from a sit and my Nike Sandle flew up and got me in the chin. Understand that they do add more risk... =========Shaun ==========

Here is what I have heard and understood this argument to be about - Understand that I have limited experience... The manufacturer designs and tests their reserve canopies until they fully understand their operating limitations. Have you ever read what these people put their products through?? It's amazing! When they put their limitations on the lable, they know what they are talking about. When you decide that it is safe to push a reserve beyond it's manufacturers recomended limits, isn't that the same as saying you know more than the manufacturer , IMHO? Beautiful 8 Pt 8-way at Skydive Dallas - It was the best of this year so far just because I felt that I flew my slot well and performed like I wanted to perform. Don't you get some sort of certificut for doing an 8pt 8-Way? It's all on video! =========Shaun ========== -
