My most memorable instructor is still working as a full time Rigger and Instructor in the Kansas City area - and Instructing at Kansas State University parachute club. David Peuster, I'm sure some of you know him. Ever since I figured out that I wanted to be an instructor, I've been watching as many JM's and Instructors as I can. It's amazing to me to see all the different teaching techniques. Dave (AKA Rigger Dave) always stuck out in my mind because of the way he treats people and make his students feel comfortable. He can just "connect" with the student and work with them Like I have seen no other do. He always does stuff his own way, and as I've thrown my Practice SL's and prepared for an upcoming SL course (with J.E.) he's helped me really find my own methods and ways of connecting to students. When I was going through student progression, there were many students who would wait for Dave to show up to jump. Good guy, and one hell of a rigger (AND GEAR DEALER!!) .... I was talking to an Aircraft appraiser the other day about the prices of 206s versus 182s. According to him, very often a 206 will run for significantly less than an equally aged 182 for the simple reason that design wise and performance wise, it is kind of an oddball aircraft, Insurance is usually unproportionatly higher, as well as maintanence costs. Can anyone confirm this hypothesis?? =========Shaun ==========

I am not an Instructor yet, I am currently a Coach, and I am taking a SL Instructor Course here in just over a month. I LOVE working with students and helping out lowtimers. Just shortly after I got my A-license, I started teaching flat-packing to the students. I'm serious, you can ask KansasSkydiver for a confirmation on this, but I would miss load after load to hang around on the ground and teach my little packing class. I realized about that time That in this sport, I wanted to be someone who teaches and helps others grow - it is a big thrill to me. I got my Coach about 7 months ago, and SInce then I've been throwing as many students as I possibly can. People are suprised when I tell them how many coach dives I've done when I've only been an instructor for seven months. I even like to train uncurrent SL students in the training harness - an often LONG and frusterating process. I just figured out a long time ago that this is something I wanted to do. I love it almost as much as jumping! =========Shaun ==========
