  2. Oups, that was a Typo - I want a PD 143 Reserve. hey, I'm GIVING away a perfectly good stranger's car - they can MAKE me 146!!! =========Shaun ==========
  3. LOL my brother speaks about 4 or 5 languages Fluently on the conversation Level. Here is how he learned them - Albanian, for example. He chooses to serve a 2 year mission for our church, the Church Drops him off In Albania, no instruction in the language what-so-ever, gives him the contact of a Missionary Friendly Family, and Bingo, 4 months later, Fluent. He made a LOT of $ translating a few years back for the Gov when all the albanian refugees came to Kansas City....
  4. Hmmm, sounds like you should take up polygomy. =========Shaun ==========
  5. I've got a deal for everybody - anybody can just have BoostedXT's car he is offering for sale if you give me either 50 lift tickets for Rantoul this year or a New Reserve - PD 146 please. Any Takers??? =========Shaun ==========
  6. I have a Sabre2 with less than 50 jumps on it, it's a 150 and I'm cramming it into something designed for a 135. If I somehow get it in there, I'm NOT taking it out for anything. For me, packing involves sweat, blood, tears, yelling, emotion, and pain. =========Shaun ==========
  7. Dude, Why not just tough it out for another 2 years? At 25 with your record your Premiums SHOULD drop by quite a bit... =========Shaun ==========
  8. I'm sorry to hear this - Even though I don't know this person's name - I promise that they'll be in my thoughts & prayers..... I hope they feel better soon - Bytch, please keep us posted about this person..... =========Shaun ==========
  9. If offered enough Money - I would sell out. I would use this money to buy a brand new rig, and then I'd fake my death in a very Home Simpson Manner and take my new fortunes (and new rig!!!) and skydive happily forever....
  10. I personally discourage jumpers from Freeflying before they are proficient on their bellies. However, here is the problem I see at DZ's today - - - For a Novice jumper to work on RW or belly flying, it can sometimes be a challenge to find somebody to jump with - likewise it is very easy to learn to Freefly and jump by yourself. I hear a lot of peaple tell me that they learned to FF because they could never find anybody to do RW with!! I started believing that as soon as I could really control my body on my belly, I would start freeflying. Well, it turns out I love flying on my belly so much there is just never any time to Freefly. NOTHING can compare to the rush of a good 4 way! =========Shaun ==========
  11. I'll join as long as there is free cookies and punch at the end of each meeting....... =========Shaun ==========
  12. Aggie, As a TM, what do you think of the Racer Tandem system? Would you ever buy one or Jump it? NightJumper is an Amazing guy - I owe him beer for everything he did when I ordered my Racer... =========Shaun ==========
  13. LOL.. SpeedRacer?!?! Yeah Right dude, you are more like SpeedJavelin!!!! =========Shaun ==========
  14. Only 4 hours away!! Dang, I'd be there Every weekend!!! =========Shaun ==========
  15. I just did the basic Sample prop. I compared total jumps and deaths on the national average and total jumps and deaths for SDC. The numbers are out there, USPA publishes their fatality reports in The Parachutist and the numbers for SDC were not hard to get ahold of. I sent a few PM's out and got back consistantly the same numbers from different people here on dz.com - Like I said before, there lots of variables (like Instructional staff available, aircraft, swoop pond, et cetera) that I did NOT take into account, and I am talking right now with some people of doing a full analysis taking into account all of these things. If you look hard enough, the info is out there.. PM sent.... =========Shaun ==========
  16. Hey, I'm not trying to be too negative here!! One the Jumpers took the time to pack neatly and carefully, it gives BEAUTIFUL 500' snivels! I'm just saying watch and learn from other people packing!
  17. I'm glad to hear that you made it out okay! Be gratefuly it happened at 10,500 and not 200!!! I realized just how important listening to the pilot really was about two weeks ago when I had a load of experienced jumpers I was throwing on SL to practice for my rating. at about 9,000 feet, Pilot fakes an engine-out emergency and I (practicing as Jumpmaster) got a wake-up call. I'll tell you all now that I'll never make the same mistakes twice!!! Edited to add: I was throwing Mock-SL's from 10,00 because we were going cross-country - Not something I would do with a REAL student, but I was just practicing controling the line.. =========Shaun ==========
  18. I've got plenty of Jumps on both Sabres and Sabre2s, and all I have to say is talk to somebody who regularly Jumps a Sabre about your same size and Wingloading - Watch them pack, learn it's tricks and repeat on your own canopy. Around here, there is a ledgendary Sabre1 that has broken 2 peoples ribs through a hard openings. It was bought by an older guy who packs it with AMAZING grace and care, and it treats him beautifully........ I think the trick is all in the packing...
  19. 0:2:0 Not a real exciting weekend here, winds were about 30 mph, but being a young dumb kid I made two jumps - one great ff jump with some buddies and then a Mock Coach Evaluation Dive with BCH7773; I Fail my category f. =========Shaun ==========

Hmmm, I've never been to a jack-in-a-box before, we don't have them here in Kansas. Arn't they the ones that killed a bunch of people in the 80's?? =========Shaun ==========
  21. Hmmm, My plan this year for rantoul is jump so hard during the day that I collapse from exhaustion at sunset - probably still wearing my rig or curled up in my Canopy. Partying is your body's way of saying "You haven't jumped enough" =========Shaun ==========
  22. I don't think this person is a troll at all - they are just looking for information and very unfamiliar with some of the couresies extended here on DZ.com - come on everybody, lets stop this troll-calling.... In regards to the question - Being a Statistics Major and not having too much of a life, I compared the sample proportion of those killed at Skydive chicago versus national average.....My results when tested at a=.05 is that their safety record is NOT significanly different than any other DZ in this country. All assumpions for this test have been met, we all know the sample size n is large enough, and I have the entire test very well written out rather academically. If anybody wants a copy of my work on this, PM me, I will be MORE than happy to share.... Edited to add - I can say right now that if I had more information available about all other DZ's, I could have blocked data accordingly, on such qualitative and quantitative variables like DZ size, swoop pond, aircraft, training staff available - perhaps then using backwards selection to get rid of the redundant variables. If I could figure out how to get this information in a ethical and efficient way, it would be a WAY cool test to run and play with the numbers... Edited to add again: one more thing, I'm sure several people here can see that with such broad info from USPA, there would be several tests that we could pass the assumptions on - I found it more logical to stick with standard analysis of Varience (Anova). =========Shaun ==========
  23. Does "Rocky" Count???? I've watched one through four, and I've seen five but it doesn't really count. =========Shaun ==========
  24. Oh yeah I'll be there. Last year I packed tandems All day, every day, and still made 50 some jumps..... I need to start politicing here to see If I can get my old job back
  25. Talk to Nightjumper about the new Firebolt - It's a fully elliptical hybrid that can be made in any size needed - clear up through tandems. Check out their website here =========Shaun ==========
