I was on an SF HALO team for 15 years. That doesn't mean much with regard to sport skydiving. Completely different. Definitely doesn't mean anything as far as flying ability goes. Most HALO guys can't fly for shit. They can, however, fall flat and stable with 90-100lbs of equip. strapped to them (in the dark at very high altitude in groups). What did you do once you were on the ground? What was your specialty? I was just curious b/c you're referring to yourself in the 3rd person. Must have been somethinig special.

Very common.

Firstly, whether or not God created life on other planets is of no consequence with regard to your soul. Secondly, people do not go to hell because they’ve not heard of Jesus or the Gospel. People go to hell for breaking God’s moral law. People go to hell because they’ve lied, stolen, committed adultery, blasphemed, coveted, etc. If you’ve referring to the Bible, where in it does it say such things? By the way, here’s what the Bible says with reference to the shape of the Earth. "It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth" (Isaiah 40:22). The word translated "circle" here is the Hebrew word chuwg, which is also translated "circuit" or "compass" (depending on the context). That is, it indicates something spherical, rounded, or arched, not something that is flat or square. Nah...It’s just us humans.

Of course not. Why would he? This planet is full of living creatures and plants.

Ray Comfort is a non-compromising, Biblically solid author. I like him a lot. The book I referenced is one of my favorites. I've read it several times, underlined a lot, and dog eared the heck out of it. It impacted me so much that I bought a box of 10 at a discount and gave one to my Church Minister, Youth Director, Sunday School Class Leader, an Uncle, a couple of Brother-in-laws, and several friends at work. I recommend it highly along with his "Hell's Best Kept Secret" and "True and False Conversion" messages.

I've been there!!!!!!

Just thought this was funny. Scroll down this page and click on the video feed with Richard Dawkins.

Tolerance?

If a person claiming to be a Christian has the attitude you just described, he/she had better re-examine themselves to make sure they're in the faith. Although, I'm fairly certain that's not what skysaintj meant by his statement. It sounds like He's just secure in the fact that his name is written in the book of life because he has partaken of the free gift of forgiveness. Now, instead of all the evidence of an entire sinful life being presented when he has to stand before the Judge, all God will see is the righteousness of his son Jesus.

We can disagree all day long on the minor stuff. What we need to agree on are the things with regard to salvation. Everything else is really just interesting discussion.

Perfect holy, just, loving God. Standard of righteous perfection. Against that standard, the smallest sin is "exceedingly sinful" in the eyes of God.

Neither does God.

Based on his actions, I doubt very seriously that Adolph Hitler would have ever sincerely humbled himself to recieve Christ as his Savior. His life would have shown evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit. Even if he claimed to be Christian, I doubt there was ever a true conversion. I doubt he was born again.

If you've ever lied, stolen, blasphemed, looked with lustful desire at another besides your wife or husband, hated someone without cause, dishonored your parents, etc., you are not a fundamentally good person. That's the point. If he's broken God's moral law, then he's as guilty as anyone else. God's wrath abides on him. God's standard of goodness is perfection.
-
Damning someone to hell does not perfect them. It punishes them. Your question is like asking the judge in a courtroom where you're being sentenced for having been found guilty of murder "How is sending me to jail going to make me better?" What's that got to do with the fact that you're guilty of a heinous crime deserving of punishment? God's "perfecting love" comes with repentance (turning away from sin) and faith in the Savior followed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. You develop and grow more and more mature as a Christian from there. Until then, you're dead in your sin and condemned already. The weight of the Law is on your shoulders.

The level of mental gymnastics required to generate these conclusions really is awe inspiring! It's just the concepts expressed in the Bible. Doesn't sound much like a story or fairy tale not meant to be taken seriously, does it?

You seem to be overlooking the fact that there is no evidence of (divine)Creation. You seem to be ignoring what's outside your window.

Is that the holdup? You feel discriminated against? Think he's got it in just for you?

Do I detect a hint of Agnosticism? A step away from Atheism?

However, it's not a pampering and trivial love. It's a perfecting love. God's love is in direct proportion to his justice. The fact that he was willing to step in and take our punishment while we were like cockroaches in his kitchen with regard to our sinful nature and rebellion is unimaginable, completely unexpected, and awe inspiring. God is holy and just. The very thing that many people are depending on to save them, God's goodness, will be the very thing that condemns them. The fact that we may be sincerely sorry for our transgression, promise to never do it again, and hope that he'll just let it slide because he is a kind and loving God, is not enough and is not in line with justice. Because God is good, he must punish sin wherever it is found. Otherwise, he'd be a corrupt judge. His love is demonstrated in that while we were still sinners, he died for us.

Creation implies a creator. It is not the only evidence that the God of the Bible exists. Just the biggest and most obvious.

No. If you could live your life perfectly (without sin) as Jesus did, then you would have no need for a Savior or forgiveness because you wouldn't have broken the law.
