  1. That's not a personal attack? I wonder if he's that brave in person. Where I come from, comments like that will get your teeth knocked in.
  2. What's with the personal attack? Have I insulted you personally?
  3. So you don't believe what you read were the words of Shakespeare?
  4. Have you ever read any Shakespeare? Do you believe he wrote what you read? How do you know since there are no surviving original manuscripts? Do we really have any idea what the original writings said? .........Actually, I think we do. That's hardly an argument for belief in the supernatural based on redacted literature. My comment was in reference to what she said about not being able to trust a document or know what it said because we don't have the originals.
  5. I am surprised to see you trivialize the name of Jesus in your original post. Doesn’t your religion consider him to be a Prophet? How do you think that will reflect on you when you have to face Allah someday?

  7. This is NOT in reference to anyone. Just answering your question with regard to how we are to determine false prophets.
  8. I believe David Koresh did claim to be a prophet, didn't he?
  9. When were the gospels written and by whom? Manuscript evidence for superior New Testament reliability Can we trust the New Testament as a historical document?
  10. DSE, don't misunderstand my motive. I'm not trying to shove religion down your throat. I'm not trying to sell you something. I'm not trying to get you to join a particular church denomination. I am sorry to hear you say what you did but I respect you for making a decision. I hope your conscience doesn't allow you to stick with it until it's too late, though.
  11. It is disconcerting. Although, it's good to examine oneself to see if you're in the faith and to make your calling and election sure (be absolutely sure you've got your "parachute" on before you have to jump out of the plane; do a gear check). I did earlier this month. I think there are a lot of "Christians" who have a false sense of security if they are continuing in a pattern of sin. They may not have simply "backslid" if they never truly "slid forward" in the first place. You will be known by your fruits. Make your calling and election sure Mockingbird!
  12. According to whom? First thing I saw on this site were things for sale. What a turn off... Refer to the "Do you believe in sin" thread for my response.

  14. God. Didn't search too deep, did you? There is nothing wrong with making money for your ministery and to pay your people what they deserve. As was said in the video (which you obviously did not watch), you will know them by their fruits.
  15. I posted this in the "Honest Questions for God" thread. I wanted to also post it in the other "current" religious threads here. I think it's that important.

  17. Wow Folks!!! I wish everyone here would watch this entire video of a sermon by Paul Washer (Missionary) at a youth conference with 5000 kids. There is a 4 min sample but it would be well worth your time to watch the 58 min one. I'm sure most here won't but I'd challenge you to. Especially those claiming to be Christians. I warn you in advance. This is heavy lifting. Whew!!! - Are you a genuine Christian? - Are you born again? - How do you know you're not going to hell? - Did you just pray and confess Jesus as Lord and think you were saved? Satan confesses Jesus as Lord. - Does your life give representation of change? - Are you bearing good fruit because of Christ who is in you? - How do you know if someone is a false prophet? - Direct application to all the televangelists and leaders in Christian organizations who have been caught in scandals showing themselves to be hypocrites living in patterns of sin. Is this fundamentalism or is it what EVERY Christian should profess and do if they are sincere in their faith and are not themselves hypocrites??? This guy is a Soldier for Christ! He is a spiritual athlete! Wow! If you're interested, go to the Way of the Master Radio site and scroll down a little less than half way down the page. The videos are on the left. Jay
  18. Although, some of these types of tendencies may be learned and acquired from one’s cultural environment, I have no doubt that others originate from natural impulses which they were born with (heterosexual & homosexual). It doesn't matter. Both are still wrong and sins against God. One chooses to feed the impulse in each case either in thought or deed. However, the sin is the same stemming from human selfishness. Why is heterosexual infidelity different from homosexual fidelity at its root?
  19. The Church (no particular denomination but speaking of the "Body of Christ") should NEVER accept or patronize to sin and unbiblical teaching of any kind. However, sinners should be welcome in church. That's what it's for. There should be a sign on the front of every church stating "ALL LIARS, THIEVES, BLASPHEMERS, ADULTERERS, AND COVETERS ARE WELCOME! ALL THOSE WHO ARE SELF-RIGHTEOUS ARE NOT!" That does not mean that there should be actively practicing homosexuals in leadership positions just like there shouldn't be actively practicing adulterers in leadership position within the church. The primary and most important reason for the church to exist is to seek to save that which is lost. Only the sick need a physician. We should be careful not to turn away those who need to hear the cure. Homosexuals are no different from anyone else in this regard.
  20. I'm glad to see you acknowledge the Word of God. There's a bit more to it that you'd like people to believe with your post. The Bible is comprised of 66 books. One book need not stand on its own. It's backed up by the rest. Although, they can.
  21. God is above his creation. We exist. Therefore, something had to cause it. You said something very insightful: "All human concepts." ......very limited.
