That's some pretty bad heurmaneutics.
-
It depends on exactly what you mean by "evolved." But then again... we've been through all this before.
-
It's the difference between observational science, what we can observe and test with repeatable results and historical science, based on a belief about our origins. Adding the "magic ingredient" of "millions" or even "billions" of years doesn't change what we see and can prove. It only influences what some believe because the alternative is very uncomfortable and inconvenient.

Creationists do not say that all land species were on the Ark. All the different “kinds” of land animals that existed “at that time” were on the Ark. Today, there can be many species within a kind. Originally, there would have been one type of creature from which everything from a housecat to a lion would have developed to the present based on natural (and artificial) selection.
-
How many animals do you think had to fit on the ark? This goes into long discussion that has already been done here (e.g. created kinds, variation, natural selection). I do not have the time to spend hours upon hours rehashing the same old stuff. Whether you agree or disagree. Been there already...

I don't know what you're talking about but I am sorry you're so upset.

Finally a way to get rid of the Republican Party.

Wow! -
Actually Bill, I disagree with you there - The article is stating that we must live with the fact that God is omnipotent and omniscient but that man also does have free will. The article is saying that we must learn to live with these 'facts' even though they do appear mutually contradictory - basically, that we must stop thinking about it and accept God's word at face value. So the way I read it the article does actually support Pajarito. It does an extremely poor job of it, but it does support him. Thank you. I know you don't agree with me on this but you saved me a post.

Why are your comments directed at me personally and not at the topic of discussion. Do I upset you?
-
No... I am certain that they both exist. I just do not fully understand how.
-
Allow me to summarise the good Dr. - "God doesn't play by our rules, so no matter how good the counterargument is I don't even need to address it. Deal with it bitches." Not very conducive to a useful discussion, is it? That's the problem. The concept is much more complex than you'd like. We want to "summarize" or dumb it down because we aren't able to comprehend it. It makes us uncomfortable in our finite capacity that we cannot know the mind of God. It is our arrogant pride which makes us think we can. “God’s truth is never quite what man would have expected.”

God's knowledge of what you will choose does not preclude your ability to do so. What a marvelous statement. Too bad it's nonsensical. Why? Read Slaughterhouse 5. If I could read your mind, how would that restrict or "control" your thoughts or actions? I just know you so well that I know what you'll do before you do it. Still doesn't prevent you from doing what you want.

I don't hang out here all day. It frustrates and depresses me most of the time. I believe the animals could fit on the ark for more reasons than that. Here, I'm talking about divorce.
-
There are two acceptable reasons for divorce expressed in the bible. One concerns the abandonment of a Christian by a non-Christian spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15). The other is due a lifestyle of infidelity whether that be physical or otherwise (pornography, intentional flirting, or some pattern thereof). Remember, Jesus said that if you just look at a woman to lust after her, you’ve committed adultery already with her in your heart (Matthew 5:27-28). Thoughts and intentions are as incriminating as actions in the eyes of God and we will be held accountable someday. Other than these two reasons, God is silent on the issue probably because divorce is highly discouraged. However, God also makes it clear that He despises abuse of one’s spouse (Colossians 3:19, 1 Peter 3:7, Ephesians 5:25-33). It does not say that anyone must endure abuse in these situations. A person should always take themselves and their children out of danger. The person in the video was not obligated Biblically to sit there and take it. Just because a person claims to be a Christian, puts on a robe, hangs a crucifix around their neck, went to Catholic School as a kid, had parents who claimed to be Christians, etc. does not mean that they are a Christian. There is a difference between falling into sin and diving into it. A true Christian (who is born again…e.g. saved) will occasionally fall into sin because of the sin nature. However it is against his/her (new) will. The true born again Christian has been given a new nature and is a new creature in Christ with new desires (2 Corinthians 5:17). The true Christian will not continually dive into sin as a matter of habit. A pattern of sin is indicative of not being saved. The man in the video was obviously a part of very sinful repeated behavior. I doubt very seriously that he was a Christian at all. A person who has repented before God and placed their trust in Jesus for salvation does not beat their wives over and over again. Here’s another problem I had with the video. Catholicism is NOT representative of biblical Christianity. It’s not Christian. It’s Catholic. A priest cannot absolve anyone from sin. Only God can do that.

What causes Gravity?? Does anyone really know??
pajarito replied to watchdog2's topic in Speakers Corner
So self-aware, self-replicating machines will begin their own type of evolution and will eventually take over. The smart people "like all you fellas" will be selected out eventually and we'll be left with dumb machine dependent people "like me" who can't funtion as you said without them. We're all headed for extinction......once they get tired of dealing with us. -

I don't believe in magic. I do believe in God, however, mainly because the evidence of designed creation screams it. Just like I believe a painter had to exist for there to be a painting or a builder had to exist for there to be a building. You, on the other hand, have to believe that something came from nothing, exploded, and became an organized everything. That seems unreasonable. Psalm 14:1-3 -

I'm sure someone...maybe the great great great great great great great great great great grandson/daughter of someone with advanced intelligence and a huge brain such as a physics professor like Kallend...will eventually have evolved in intelligence enough to understand and explain gravity...maybe....probably....sometime in the future millions and millions of years from now. That is, unless he/she has evolved into something so different he/she can no longer communicate with us on our level. -
Yep! Creation scientists and other biographies of interest Can creationists be scientists?

None of those questions are important, really. Important questions deal with what’s going to happen to you when you die and have to face judgment. I’m a blind man casually walking toward the edge of a cliff. You notice this and try to warn me. I, on the other hand, am not interested in what you have to say about that. I’m busy pondering how God, the Creator of the Universe, could have also saved the animals on an Ark. Unless you can answer that, I won’t listen to you and keep walking toward my death.
