Snake Oil

start a healthy diet consisting of many fruits and vegetables and enough protein. Protein shakes are great, the weight gainer protein stuff body builders drink. Run everyday. Lift weight 3-4 times a week. Do 100 crunches everyday. After you do this sort of stuff you'll laugh at snake oil. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
2. thanks for the info, guys and gals. I'll have to think a little bit more about it, I have time though, not off student status yet!
3.
I am afraid that people will call me the "ballistic meatball", I guess it's time to loose some bodyfat.
In my lowly opinion you can look at this two ways. 1, say fuck it and jump and don't give a shit what people think, you are doing this for yourself after all. 2, use it as a motivator to produce positive effects in your life, i.e. losing weight, living healthier. Who cares what anyone says? Well, the answer would be all of us, you just have to learn how to harness other people's emotions that are projected upon you in a positve way. peace, Andy --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

What's in a number?

congrats man. You started BASE jumping to BASE jump, not get a number, you found out you get a "degree" when you completed the 4 letters. You were pumped when you did but kept your original goal to BASE jump as primary. Very cool, man. Peace! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
5.
Your quote of "cheapo" was foolish however, and people will rag you for that.
point taken. The thing is I have to be careful I dont spend so much money on equipment that I then have no money to spend on jump tickets. I will do everything in my power to be safe, of course, the usage of the word "cheapo" definitely doesn't portray my real attitude about skydiving. If I can't buy gear thats safe, then I will wait to skydive until I can. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
6.
You weigh 125 You're a brand new jumper. cost is an issue.
All correct. I have bought a container to fit canopies ranging from 170 to 220 in, packs reserve size ~170. Im looking for a cheapo reserve and cheapo main to jump as soon as I get my A license (i.e. as soon as I can jump rigs w/o AADs). --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
7. what is the difference between a swift 5 cell reserve and a newer 7 cell reserve? Does one pack smaller/larger than the other? Easier to pack, harder to pack? Thanks. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
8. Anybody know of any free videos/clips of skydivers that show perfect form and technique for turns, stability, back loops, etc. Thanks for the help. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
9. keep us posted on not only your ability to run but also the reactions you get from other pedestrians!!! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
10. if you dont give a shit what your gear looks like, as long as its safe, my opinion you'll have a much better time skydiving. Leave the fashion in the malls, just have fun and make sure your gear is first and foremost SAFE. But, thats just this beginner's opinion --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
11. I love that exiting shot, such crisp photography. My hats off to the photographer, that must take some damn skill, oh, and to the particpants in the big way too --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
12. I got an email from a parachute supply company (forgot name) that supplies lopo lite reserves, and they said a strong reserve is 443^. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
13. this is a bit like a beginner telling a beginner to do, well thats exactly what it is
14. This may be a newbie question, but how hard is it to run on the ground in a wingsuit? Say if you were trying to run away from someone at full speed, would the suit hinder your movements? Just curious, thanks

Risk
When really, the actual level of danger has not changed.
Not trying to argue and start a semantics battle, but I believe the level of danger would change if you were accompanied by another human. If danger "strikes" two are more likely to be able to defend the attack successfully. I understand your main point, just had to be an asshole there --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
16. Great advice from poster above me. I love to keep up a routine of weights, running, and biking, not only is it fun but it keeps me in top shape. Im sure that I am inadvertently helping my skydiving by doing so. Thanks for the advice, guys! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
17. I'm in the process of buying new risers for a vector 2 container. I am going to ask my rigger about this, and then all will be good, but I want to have some sort of working knowledge so I dont sound clueless. What is the difference between the different lengths of the risers? Are longer risers for bigger people? Or does it have to do with the size of your canopy? Thanks. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
18.
2nd thing you can do is let your canopy fly, trying to keep it at half brakes or something like that won't help.
I've heard keeping slight toggle pressure, i.e. less than quarter, is the best toggle position for turbulence. Is this wrong? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
19. Is there anything one can do besides practicing arch, turns, emergency procedures, etc, on the ground in the intermittent time between jumps? Im speaking mainly in terms of student exercises. It seems like a pattern (money issues) that its going to be 2-3 weeks between jumps. Every couple weeks I get in 2 jumps, but it seems after a week or two with not jumping things seem to get a little less sharp in my mind. Is there anything I can do besides jump more? That said, this problem will probably be solved when all I have to buy to jump is a jump ticket, but AFF is hella exspensive --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
20. What are the main mods/differences for a CRW canopy? Can I skydiving regularly with the exact same setup and just pull at normal altitude and land, etc. Or is the canopy so specialized Im going to need a different one if im not doing CRW on that jump? Thanks. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
21. How come when I look at a classifieds section that has the "new" tag on it, and then I go back to the main classifieds page it still has the new tag on it? Is the new tag not arbitrarily controlled by my clicking on the section, i.e. is it controlled by a time period (something is new for say 12 hours)? I can't tell what the purpose of the new tag is, but if its supposed to dissappear after i've looked at the section, its not working. And if its something different, i'm an idiot! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
22. Is it just bad form on the part of so many skydivers I see in clips and videos, or is there a reason they have their legs/knees spread so far apart, because the second I do that my instructor gets on me for bad/sloppy form, and tells me to bring them back to shoulder width. Is this a stability issue? because it feels so much more comfortable to throw those legs wide, but if if thats going to make me less stable, then... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
