I haven't pack in over two years.....maybe three. I don't like to pack. As long as I can I won't pack. If I can't afford to pay a packer I prob won't jump. I hate packing, it's God's way of ruining a perfect sport. Pet peev of packers: 1) You come in and say "Great opening" and they say something to the effect "I pack them all them all the same doesn't matter to me" 2) "Your canopy is SOOOOO big (175 TA) your pack jobs cost more" (I lower my tip amount by whatever they charged me per pack job) If someone packs with a good positive attitude I FEEL better about the pack job - right or wrong. If I have a mal I don't blame it on the packer and I don't care what kind it was. I stow my brakes before I set it down and I tripple check my pin. At the end of the day provide my gear was ready and the attitude was good the packer can look for at least a 20% tip. Would this pop oil speculation? It has been speculated that speculation is driving up the cost to the end user (us) on gas prices. Would the government selling off a % of the oil reserves to decrease the cost of oil, which would hurt the speculators and possibly “burst the bubble”? The only way I see that working would be the government’s willingness to do it several times, to do that we would have lower our reserves perhaps to low. The housing bubble burst and we are going through the painful correction. But to a large degree many benefited from the good economy that was part of the bubble. I see this bubble as being beneficial to a very few, and painful to many. Hence I believe that the government taking an active roll (interjecting the oil reserves into the market at some level) to possibly be a worth while action. SkyFest was prob the most fun I have ever had at a boogie - and that includes 5 WFFC. The hot weather was just a bother at worse. I got in 16 jumps did some killer big ways and some even more fun smaller (+20) ways. I guess I am an old goat but watching the "younger" skydivers have so much fun felt good. At the end of the day (for me) we would all snag a beer and watch jumpers. Get a good buzz going, stop drinking, drink water, eat dinner and hit the hotel. Recently an area that I had been riding in for over 30 years was closed. Normal reasons...."save the enviroment" In this case a certain bird (I believe) was the legal reason. In the course of almost all the land closing a certain amount of Trails are left open - to show how fair the enviromentalist are. The problem is that these trails get beaten to death by over use. In my plus 30 years of riding this area I never saw a hiker more than 2 miles into the property. (Bugs and Fla heat to much for the hikers) So now it's closed. The protest are over, the current trails will never repair themselfs because they are waaaaaay over used. It sure made the "tree huggers" happy when they got it closed.
