  1. ROTFLOL, a little defensive aren't we? Why would I think you don't have a job.?? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  2. This is what drives me nuts. It is the super rich or the super poor. These argumemts ALWAYS get pointed that way. Something like 47% aren't paying Feb taxes - YES they pay local and state. Can someone here tell me at what amount people start paying FEDERAL taxes? To say that the top 5% pay somewhere around 45% of the total Fed income tax are not paying their fair share.... just seems wrong. Do the math close to 50% don't pay Fed tax, of the 50% that do 5% are paying close to half of what is paid leaving 45% of the payers to pay 50% Please the ABOVE is rough numbers. I'm sure someone here has and can point out that the numbers are all wrong...... Spending - ALL OF IT (military, S.S. ect, ect) - must be cut, plus higher taxes is the only way to fix this. A growing econemy is a must. The argument comes from raising taxes before you meaningfully cut spending. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

  4. I watched the entire night and Obama's speech. Mainly I wanted to see if he could lift me people like he has before. For me I didn't see it (or feel it) Perhaps some of you here will think that I couldn't be made happy by anything he said, I'll be fair enough and say thats probably true. How did you regular Obama supporters feel? The job report but any measure was terrible. I'm sure it can be spun but 96,000 new jobs just isn't going to cut it. 5. Kallend your what about 105 years old? A net worth of a million for a person of your age/Education really isn't that hard to imagine. If you REALLY wanted to help in the discussion tell us HOW LONG it took you to have a net worth over a million. For the record Kallend believes strongly in what he says. He would gladly pay more taxes I believe. Having said that I don't believe that Kallend makes 250K a year so although he is a MILLIONAIRE a tax hike won't effect him. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  6. First Bill drop the damn "FOX News" shit. Its benealth you - actually the old you. You one and only warning. At 250K less taxes it take awhile to make it to a real net worth of a million. Many loans I look at have lawyers and doctors that make +250K but their net worth is below a million. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  7. Bill Kallend, I'm truly sorry but I don't get your point - or your reasoning.... You are taxed on your earnings - what you make - NOT your net worth. The point of the artical what I took from it was that the taxes hit people making over 250K, but it is SOLD as people who make millions. "Fair share" is always pointed at millionaires...(Romney) truth is it is pointed and will be paid by people who make much less than the million Obama likes to sell. The real millionaires PEOPLE that make a million a year will hide it LEGALLY (some) will the people making say 300K won't have the same ability. Obama could have gone after the millionaires he didn't but he acts like thats who he is after cause it plays well. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  8. Fine Kallend, being an educator please help this lowly person understand. It won't hurt my feelings - fire away. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  9. This artical lays out my biggest problem with the Obama tax hikes. PLEASE understand that I personally believe that tax increases, cutting spending along with growth in the economy are the only way to pay down our deficit. Obama likes to sell the idea that he's only after the "millionaires" but history shows that these won't be the people that pay. 'Bait and Switch' Taxes By Thomas Sowell - September 5, 2012 We have heard many times from President Barack Obama how he plans to raise taxes on "millionaires and billionaires," but not on the middle class. Apparently, if you don't happen to be a millionaire or billionaire, you don't have to worry. But the numbers say otherwise -- and say so big time. The actual tax increase plans being proposed by Obama do not start with people who have an income of a million dollars a year. They start with people with incomes of $250,000 and up. That is more than most people make, but it is far short of a million dollars, and miles away from a billion dollars. How many of the people who stand to get hit with Obama's higher tax rate plan are in fact either millionaires or billionaires? According to the Internal Revenue Service, there are more than 2,700,000 people who earn $250,000 a year or more -- and fewer than one-tenth of them earn a million dollars or more. So more than nine-tenths of the people who would be hit with the higher taxes supposedly aimed at "millionaires and billionaires" are neither. When businesses advertise one thing and then actually sell something else, that is called "bait and switch" advertising. That is exactly what President Obama is doing with his proposed tax increases on "millionaires and billionaires." It gets worse when you look at the potential economic consequences of the tax rate increases being proposed. The small proportion of the people targeted for Obama's higher tax rates who are in fact millionaires and billionaires have the least likelihood of actually paying the higher tax rates. People with annual incomes in the millions or billions of dollars can live pretty high on the hog on a fraction of their income, leaving them with plenty of money to invest. And they can invest it in ways that keep it away from the tax collectors. In addition to tax-exempt bonds, they can invest in other countries that have lower tax rates. Hard facts show this happening as far back as we have had a federal income tax. The Constitution of the United States had to be amended in 1913 to permit the federal government to collect income taxes. Almost immediately, very high tax rates on people with very high incomes led to their taking steps to avoid paying those taxes. In 1920, Secretary of the Treasury David Franklin Houston in the Democratic administration of Woodrow Wilson pointed out that the taxable income of people with incomes of $300,000 and up had been more than cut in half, just from 1916 to 1918. He did not believe that this was because the rich were becoming poorer but "almost certainly through investment by the richer taxpayers in tax-exempt properties." President Woodrow Wilson himself urged Congress to reconsider whether very high tax rates are in fact "productive of revenue" to the government. He said that, beyond some point, "high rates of income and profits taxes discourage energy, remove the incentive to new enterprise, encourage extravagant expenditures, and produce industrial stagnation with consequent unemployment and other attendant evils." That sounds a lot like where we are today. Both Democratic and Republican presidents once warned that high tax rates can reduce economic growth. And Secretaries of the Treasury under both Democratic and Republican administrations once pointed out that higher tax rates do not necessarily bring in more tax revenues than lower tax rates. Yet this lesson from more than 90 years ago has still not been learned by those who advocate higher taxes on "the rich" as the answer to our fiscal problems. In today's global economy, it is even easier for genuine millionaires and billionaires to escape high tax rates by investing in other countries. Not so for the other nine-tenths of the people hit with higher tax rates, such as small business owners or independent professionals such as dentists or realtors, whose sources of income are necessarily local. Those hardest hit by high tax rates that drive jobs overseas are likely to be those who are unemployed and need jobs here. Ironically, millionaires and billionaires may have the least to lose from higher tax rates on "the rich." But Barack Obama has the most to gain from class warfare rhetoric that wins votes from gullible people. Copyright 2012, Creators Syndicate Inc. 10. Well you could look at this ad and say he is consistent with his goals. Of course you could say he has had four years to achieve said same goals. Then again, you could agree that things were SO BAD (because of Bush) that even a super hero needs more than four years to get it done..... 11. What I find so disheartening in S.C. is how passionate people like Bill and Kallend have become for "their side". I mention them because I personally meet both and had great conversations w them that enlighten me on their position and at times changed my thoughts. When "we the people" give up become so locked stepped that good people can't discuss issues, open minded.... we are in big trouble.. I realize this is just S.C. But go as far back and read old post, the entire conversation has turn to nothing but "you guys suck" "no you suck". Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  12. +1 This actually is odd to me. Clint Eastwood is getting hammered about his speech by some of the press. He's 82, he didn't use a teleprompter....we all know what happens when Obama goes off the teleprompter Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  13. You know I fall with Bill to a degree on this one. I really don't understand why we don't have a rolling goal for mileage. .05% to a 1% averaged. When we try to make these big jumps we get all sorts of push back from the car companies Wonder what a VW beetle would be if we had improved at a 1% average...... 17. Correct Bill. My point is that THIS is presented -sold to the public as the ULTRA RICH. Warren Buffet rich. I don't think Warren Buffet will be effected because of the way he recieves his income (capital gains) "Pay your fair share" isn't going to be paid by the ultra rich. Obama is fond of saying "maybe well off people agree with me that they should pay more" (word to that effect) Sure Warren Buffet, hollywood folks. I haven't meet many people making say $450K saying it - have the posters here? I understand the % that people who make $250K are "rich" by that way of looking at it. I would make the argument that most small business have at RISK a lot more, that they already pay there fair share. That once you reach the point that you have grown your small business to the level of making +250K you are older and don't want to borrow money at the bank to expand. To the last poster I understand marginal tax rate. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  18. Good well let's give Romney a chance then...just to be fair. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  19. No shit John. My point is that Obama and his like try to make it sound like the taxes will only hit the "ultra rich" I content that 250K isn't the ultra rich. Please do post the samer tired shit Bill did. I understand that only 2% of the population make +250K. When a small S-corp makes a profit it does flow through to the shareholders - normal the owner of the company. When he or she wants to expand his company he'll want to use some of these profits to do so. If Buffet and Gates are so keen on raising taxes, raise them on people who make $5,000,000 a year. RAISE THE HELL OUT OF THEM. There class warefare at it's best. Raise the taxes just not on whatever I make. That's our leaders answer......guess I'll support him as long as it isn't on me. 20. Hey could anyone here that is better at "numbers" tell me this. The left just loves to throw out that Romney paid 14% in taxes....you can pick others.... I have no reason to not believe that is the case. The ultra rich may pay at that rate. But can any get a handle on what a S-corporation makinging say (the magical number) $250,000 a year pays at a %? I really think that is the real question. Obama likes to make it sound like he is talking about ultra rich, I think it will impact the $250K people a LOT more than Romney, Buffet... 21. Tell you what Skydive Atlanta knows how to throw a party. The weather actually turned out fine, something like 22 loads on Saturday and I don't know how many on Sunday. Got to meet a lot of new jumpers and do some fun jumps. Thanks to Bill Knowles for the video and for Trey for having me up. Not to mention that's one of the fastest King Air's I've been in!! 22. Nope just what has been released (right or wrong that it has been) through the police. The physical evidence seems to support Z's story. If that is so - than DISREGARD whatever Zimmerman says cause no one will believe him. It's going to have to come down to the physical evidence and that seems to all be on his side. So what your really saying is that in your mind the only way to see what the truth is to have a trial, that the physical evidence isn't enough to clear Zimmerman? (Wounds) I'm not saying your wrong, just trying to follow your logic. FWIW (not much) I am starting to lean to the trial idea but I'm not there yet. I'd like to see if there is any more physical evidence, or witnesses. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  23. Hey John, you do seem to have bais that Zimmerman is guilty of something. My honest question: Why would you believe the story being sold for TM over what Zimmerman is saying? Your one of the most logical people I know, but is your leaning in this case just based on the fact that someone got killed so someone must have done something that they sb punished for? From everything I can read, Zimmerman may be guilty of being a dumbass.....but so far what do you see - if anything - that says he wasn't within his rights to defend himself? The physical evidence seems to back up Zimmermans story. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  24. There are some painful points here on both sides that neither wants to see. Zimmerman could have stayed in the car. TM could have called the police, ran home a number of things. The physical evidence is limited but seems to support for the most part Zimmermans story. When you peel away the pain of a young man being killed, the emotion of the press, in the end TM is dead. No one else seems to have seen anything. Zimmerman crediability is somewhat questionable. In the end unless they come up with something that really proves that Zimmerman story is a lie, the physical evidence will clear him UNLESS the jury decides that because someone die, someone has to be punished. Just my thoughts. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
