Family Says They Did Tip Gay Server, Didn't Leave Note
mirage62 replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in Speakers Corner
It is P.C. to defend gays. This by and large is a good things as gays have been unfairly bashed for years. Unfortunately - but absolutely no different than straight people - some people tell lies. It would appear that this MAY be the case, but we don't know for sure. The sad thing was the spin on this situation. "I don't agree with your life style" was set up to cause a big deal......and of course we took it. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -

Bill you could certainly be right. OTOH do you think that the democrats get ALL the credit for social security? I would submit that they don't. Just a thought. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

+1 Funny so many people here were SURE - I mean completely SURE that Bush knew there were no WMD I Iraq. The same people seem to be sure that Obama - a law prof - didn't know what was in his signature law. He knew it, he lied to get the bill passed (that not surprising for any party) and now he is dealing with the problem of his lie. The only problem (they think) is that the web page didn't work - if that is correct they will fix it and things will be great. Time will tell. Do The Democrats own Obama care? The Republicans own Iraq, does everyone recall the “You broke it, you own it” comments from the Democrats? To a degree I agreed. I also agree that the American health care delivery system needed changes. The ACA was passed without Republican support, to me as to party ownership it seems clear that the Democrats own it. Many of my Democrat friends will claim that Republican obstructionist maneuvers have hurt ACA. To that I agree but none of the Republicans supported it in the first place. I believe that this is key to their ownership. I have little faith in the government to run health care, one only has to look at social security be worried. Like social security I see to many areas that our elected officials will be unable to resist “improving” in an effort to garner more votes (both sides) BUT should the Democrats work out the ACA and it becomes a well-functioning system, they will rightly deserve congratulations. None of my employees would qualify for subsidies. You very well may move to another job, I wouldn't blame you. Maybe some of mine would. I don't think so Your example though lacks all the savings that the ACA will bring and I wouldn't do this for a year. Plus it reads like you have a pretty good plan. Thought this might be interesting, given all the discussion. 1. Ambulatory patient services Definition: Care you receive without being admitted to a hospital – for example, at a clinic, physician’s office or same-day surgery center. Who benefits? In 2008, 74 percent of U.S. adults had at least one ambulatory care visit. 2. Emergency services Definition: Care for conditions which, if not immediately treated, could lead to serious disability or death. Who benefits? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 21 percent of adults visited an emergency room in 2009. The average ER visit cost $1,265 in 2008. 3. Hospitalization Definition: Care you receive as a patient in a hospital, such as room and board, care from doctors and nurses, and tests and drugs administered during your stay. Who benefits? The CDC estimates 8 percent of people spent at least one night in a hospital in 2010. Based on 2009 national data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the average hospital stay was 4.6 days and the average cost was $9,173. 4. Maternity and newborn care Definition: Care provided to women during pregnancy and during and after labor; care for newly born children Who benefits? About 4 million babies are born each year in the U.S. The average cost for an uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery at a hospital is about $7,600 (in 2004 dollars). 5. Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment Definition: Care to evaluate, diagnose and treat mental health and substance abuse issues. Who benefits? The average annual cost to treat someone with a mental health or substance abuse issue was $1,531 in 2007. 6. Prescription drugs Definition: Drugs prescribed by a doctor to treat an acute illness, like an infection, or an ongoing condition, like high blood pressure. Who benefits? According to the CDC, 48 percent of people reported using at least one prescription in the previous month in 2008. People using one or more prescriptions in 2004 spent an average of $1,037. 7. Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices Definition: Services and devices to help people with injuries, disabilities or chronic conditions gain or recover mental and physical skills. Who benefits? The range of care is diverse: fitting someone with an artificial limb, helping a child with a development disability participate at school, treating an athletic with a sports injury, helping a stroke victim regain speech skills and more. Looking only at Medicare beneficiaries in 2000 and considering only outpatient therapy services, 8.6 percent of people received care, and the average cost per person was $581. 8. Laboratory services Definition: Testing blood, tissues, etc. from a patient to help a doctor diagnose a medical condition and monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Who benefits? The American Clinical Laboratory Association estimates that lab tests enter into 70 percent of medical decisions, but account for less than 3 percent of health care spending. 9. Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management Definition: Preventive or wellness services include routine physicals, screening, and immunizations. Chronic disease management is an integrated approach to manage an ongoing condition, like asthma or diabetes. Who benefits? According to a 2010 MetLife study, 45 percent of employer-provided benefit packages include a wellness program and a quarter include a disease-management program. MetLife’s 2009 study reported 57 percent of employees participated when a program was available to them. Employers usually offer these programs at no cost to employees, in hopes that the programs will reduce their healthcare cost over time. Wellness program providers often quote a savings of $3 for every $1 invested. 10. Pediatric services, including oral and vision care Definition: The other nine essential benefits, but provided to kids. Of course, the mix of services and common conditions treated are quite different for different age groups. ________________________________________ Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

mirage62 replied to rickjump1's topic in Speakers Corner
John, I'll respond directly to you. Through the Bush years your post were very, very negative about the mistakes he made IYO and I respect your right to be that way. But if you believe for a moment that you are responding at the same level of negativity that you would have HAD Bush been caught doing this your bullshitting yourself and basically yourself alone. The sad thing is that people our country has become so partisan. Here on dz.com we have the established right and left posters. I was just as guilty in the past, but truly if "we the people" don't get our head out of our asses we are in deep trouble. They all suck - Obama SUCKS and Bush SUCKED. We are being lead down a path of ruin because we are listening to bs and believing that "our man" is right and the other is 100% wrong. What crap, and what a bunch of dump asses we are for letting them fool us. Rant over. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -

It's simple Bush shouldn't have done it, Obama shouldn't have done it. But if you love Obama and what he stands for your going to give him a pass, where you would have wanted to destroy Bush. They all suck, just differently Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -

Who "pays" the ACA fine- me or my employees?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Speakers Corner
We’ve had a good discussion at my company, next year we are going to review where the ACA is at and we MAY elect to discontinue providing health care. We would in effect give the employee the current money that we use to pay for the current health care ($432.00 per month) and let them buy their on ACA insurance. Issue – while I am not at 50 now if I am….. would I subtract the “fine” that I would be charged from the amount I would give to the employee? I believe it is $2,000 per uninsured employee. In effect $432 x 12 = $5,184. – fine $2,000 = $3,184 /12 mo = $265.33 left for them to purchase insurance. This is not an attempt to piss about the ACA it is a real decision that I may have to face next year. It’s easy for some to say “just pay the fine” – that would be about $100,000. I believe in providing insurance but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to pay for the insurance effectively by giving them the raise AND pay the fine. What say you?
