P3 and the future of big ways in America
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah, yeah Billy I've been hearing for years about how your going to "maybe get current...." ect, ect Why don't YOU come on out and take over the "2-digit" state record organization? I'm retired. Beside's Chris isn't dumb enough to bring enough planes in to do +100! Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
P3 and the future of big ways in America

How do you make a small fortune organizing in skydiving? Start with flying your airplane to where you are organizing, organize for cost or less. Start with a large fortune..... Besides I hear the REAL money is in organizing boogies! Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -

Roger is very active and will be a force in the sequential records for sure. He could pull together whatever he wants but favors the several point jumps not so much mega sized stuff. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -

P3 and the future of big ways in America

Louis French is organizing his first 100 way in Oct of this year, I'm the bench captain and it will be a first class event as all of Louis events are - but to date he has not done a 100 way. Guy Wright has organized +100 ways in the past but its been a long time - years. Your point is well taken that the big way world hasn't really supported "two camps" I have no idea how many people went to both my feeling is that 20-30% might be close. Close doesn't count but I believe it would have to be said the WT came closest to getting the 2 pointer.....I absolutley believe that P3 will nail it on the next attempt and perhaps that wb the proof of your comment. I disagree that we aren't losing anything in the 100 range as Kaleidoscope has been a very fun event for years, and that will be gone. WT did flight of the Phonix (sp?), two sequential events and as stated K jumps so that is a fair amount of big ways coming off the event schedule. As far as 20 way sequentials there will be plenty of these :) Who knows maybe this will lead to beating the 400 way....one day soon for some. P3 and the future of big ways in America
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Now that World team has retired I wonder about the future of big ways. When W.T. and P3 sort of went their separate ways it split the big way world to a degree, both had successes and failures of record attempts. With W.T. closing out and no heir apparent to that team P3 will become the certainly be the beneficiary game in town – town being the USA. While I was more of a W.T. guy no one can say that P3 hasn’t done a great job in bringing new blood to big ways and putting on some of the best organized events ever. In the near future if another organizing group doesn’t step up than X percentage of the W.T. jumpers (jumpers who hadn’t been doing P3 events for whatever reasons) will move to P3 events if they wish to do the really big successful (+200) I do hope that sequential big ways 50-100 size will stay viable on the east coast, I have enjoyed my mega big way journey but recently have reached a point where I just don’t want to travel as far for events. Thoughts on big ways future? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Your comments are so true. As an example for me. I just got back from the 222 way attempts (money spent, what fun) Spent the morning w my family. In just a bit I will head to the office to catch up on work missed. The American dream isn't easy - it takes work. When my father w dying he gave me this piece of advise. "Son go to work, work your business most people wont really do that" Now to my Dad that was the 7-7 thing 5 days a week and 1/2 a day Sat. And you CAN lose it (I know I can) - just like the poster above said. But I'm willing to beat that if the drive is still there he'll get it back and yes, some luck. Someone posted earlier about the American dream being dead. I started working in 1983 after school. I'm not in a sexy industry, office supplies, copiers and network services. I own my on company, currently employ about 28 people. IMO the American dream is far from dead. BUT the idea that you have to take risk, work HARD over a long period of time seems to be. My children are well educated, I save hard (and have for years) I don't and never carried credit card debt, ALL toys are paid for in full at time of purchase. I drive a 14 yr old truck - because I chose to fly a 10 yr old 182. Personally I agree I should pay more taxes, and I do. The thing that is lost, it seems is that the real AMERICAN dream is built over years. In my case over 26 years. There IS an eliment of luck in my life, but there was also the above - education. I paid for it but I got student loans. I worked from age 13 on. In my early years my normal work schedule was 7:00am - 7:00 pm. Does it ALWAYS work out? No. But I was never promised that it would. I was promised I would have the oppuritnity. The American dream is still here, it's just been deemed gone by some because it not achieved as fast as modern society likes. It wouldn't matter what they would do, John..... You'd disagree w it just as much as everyone on the right w disagree w Obama -
So much fun, what a great fun group of people to jump with..... And we set the POPS state and national sequential record. Three at one time....maybe THATS a record. Great thing is I suspect that the National 20 way POP's record won't last long..... Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

For the folks that think state records don't really "count" Couple years ago we did the Ga state record 66 way. After we had landed I found out ONE of the jumpers USPA memebership was expired.... My thought was to forget making it offical and going on to the sequential..... You'd thought that I had spit on the bible. So we went up and did it again, an made it offical. Now 50% of the group had never been on a jump that big, but I learn my leasson. Check the USPA card - don't take anyone word for it - and for some people these records are REAL important. Here's my real life experience from a week ago.... The judge I had was coming to the event, she wasn't paid anything and was glad to do it - so maybe that was luck but in four events I have never paid the judge anything. You DO have to draw the jump before you do it, in my case I have the USPA folks approve the last one to - but I'm careful about that (they didn't charge me) The $35 is correct, if someone want to get a cert. they can buy it. Once you do the paper work it isn't that hard but it helps to have someone to go over it the first time. I did all the paper work for USPA and POPs in 30 minutes. No tsaying your wrong....just that it isn't that bad and doesn't have to be expensive. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Last weekend we set a 20 way sequential record (three points) at a boogie in Georgia. Hell we all know that can be broke. But where DO you set the starting point for something like that? In Georgia there are now TWO Otters....(at two different dz's) so it won't be that easy to break it in Georgia - but I'm sure it will get broken and I HOPE it does. The whole point is skydivers like to break records, if someone is willing to do the paper work - and done right it takes some time - spend the $35 than more power to them! Naaaa pretty sure the young white guys, the middle aged white guys ect don't "believe you" OTOH I bet there is SOMEBODY here that knows you and thinks the world of you....somebody. And as stated before I was sure you wouldn't give a shit, but I think it's cool that your a women who makes lots of money but has a issue with old white guys Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

LOL, see there you go. YOUR job is "respectable" but theirs isn't? By who standards? YOURS? Who died and made you queen of standards? As for education, you can easily look up their educations levels....while yours remain safely hidden behind your key board. My point isn't to bash you, I know you don't give a shit what I think. It's the intolerance that goes along with the extremist on the left AND the right that worries me. Oh... edit to add... the crap about your income is as verifiable as your education....so just to prove that as an "older white guy" I make more than you.... I make more than Bill Gates - so there, I win. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

See that's kind of my point. You have no knowledge of how they got the job. Simple because they work for a network (I'm guessing) that you don't agree with you put them down. And again, because they make money they aren't - what good people? Again you have no first hand knowledge of any of them - who's judging who? Just because someone "fills up boxes of money" does that make them bad? Could it be possible that they worked hard, got educated, spent time building a career and got to the top? Isn't that a good thing? Why the hate for successful women? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Bet a lot of these "blondes in short skirts" have more education than you, and damn sure they make more than you.... Come to think of it the "old white guys" prob do too. Besides why do you hate old white guys and short skirted blondes?? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Naaaaa all us "conservatards" get our news from CNN and other left leaning approved sources. We would never listen to "Faux Spews" cause we all know that it isn't left leaning enough. Thank god that although Faux Spews rating grow, and more and more people watch it that there are others like yourself that watch ONLY the channels that are correct and proper and are willing to spend so much of your time telling us that we are fools for ever turning on Faux Spews. Jeez get off your soap box Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

mirage62 replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Yeah....here's mine....you were in school a LONG time ago? (j/king) Kallend ran a business, he claims it was successful and I have no reason to doubt him.... he's never explain why he sold it and went back to (or started teaching) but he certainly leans left.... Personally I think the teachers get into the fresh part of youth, they see it all the time and hope the world is a better place and they want to make it (what they consider) better. But that's just a guess. I believe that Kallend is a master at baiting people, and it took me YEARS to understand.....that he really believes the left shit. But I like him cause he's a pilot, and has NEAT toys Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Russian legislators approve troop deployment in Ukraine

Ding, ding....we have a winner. Back to Bush....so Bush fucked up - that makes it ok for Obama to fuck up? Now instead of just blaming it on Bush, the idea is to defend Obama by saying Bush fucked up to so it's ok? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Russian legislators approve troop deployment in Ukraine
mirage62 replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
Funny, I re-read the title thread to make sure what it said. I thought maybe it was "Russia invades, due to America's mistake" It seems to me that no matter what happens some people here can turn anything and make it a discussion as to what America - and generally during Bush term - has done wrong. Russia is invading another country. So many of you have stood on your soap box and condem America for the mistakes of this. Where are the howl's at what Putin is doing?
