I would say that most if not all of the help towards preventing HIV comes from non guvernamental groups that do not charge for those services... I may be wrong, but i doubt money is a factor when working toward such a goal. In any case, you can see it as an inversion. Maybe so, but if it was up to me, i would target the people who is in the most likely age to do stupid things ¿16-25?, or maybe middle school and high school students who are discovering sex. I mean, gays are at higher risk if we group the population by sexual orientation, and black females if we group the population by gender and ethnicity, but there is all sort of grouping possible that will make the fight against HIV much more useful. You will agree with me that the government has an agenda. The government is trying to promote abstinence among the youth, and it is also well known the little simpathy it has for gay people. So if the government is to be consistent with his agenda, it will not give condoms in a high school and will have a bias about who contributes most to the spread of HIV/AIDS. As i side note, i remember how hard it was for me when i was 16 to get a condom in a little town in colorado and how popular was having sex in that high school. A recipe for disater if you ask me.

That is what it is called a conflict of interests. When someone has to take decisions for the common good of a majority that will go against their own interest. Oil -> Bush -> Arbusto oil company War -> Cheney -> Halliburton, etc... Don´t you have in the U.S to severe all ties with the competence or actual clients before entering any responsability job in a company?

At the end of the day, you cannot get 44% of VIH. Either you get it or you don´t. The sluttiest white heterosexual male have by far much more chances to get STD than the shiest gay. You can get your ass reamed everyday by a VIH positive gay and if you are lucky you will not catch anything, in the other hand, if you have bad luck you can get HIV the very first day you lose your virginity. I know that there is diferent chances to get STD for doing this or that, but it only means that you have to have unprotected sex two times for everytime a gay does it, so what? are you willing to take the risk. That is why statistics don´t really mean much when trying to decide who to target, just target everybody. See, little virus do not understand wether the host is gay or straight, the viruses do not have an agenda unlike some legislators.

Let´s say that i havent found many positive references about Spain, France or Germany in SC. You are talking like America is its government, its foreign policy, its gun stance or a combination of all. I usually don´t have to wait a while before getting slamed back, and all of that is well and good as long as it doesn´t include personal attacks and it is an articulated response. Europeans tend to be big critics of their government, so if you say that you think that my government is a pussy, i will agree with you, although probably for diferent reasons. If i say something bad about Bush many people here will take it personal.

I am not, last time i checked the reasons for the Irak war, you were fighting to give them freedom and democracy, and probably a McDonalds as well. And not for selfish interests. I have the feeling that what you have in mind doesn´t have anything to do with human rights... Yet you pretend to teach lessons about democracy and goverments... Get over it, fair play is a necesity given the premises of your war (give Irak a democracy last time i checked). If you didn´t want to have a tactical disadvantage to begin with, Bush should have said the true reasons for this war beforehand.

But no one is against all the U.S, The U.S is quite diverse in pretty much everything so no one can do what you propose in your analogy. All of my post may be critic with the U.S, but only in the areas that i talk about like war, government and guns. That is the nature of this forum, but there is other issues about the U.S that we if i was going to discuss here, the thread would be moved to bonfire. The problem here is those DZ posters who will try to invalidate the poster rather than the post by saying that he or she is just bashing america when the truth is that you are only (strongly) disagreeing with a small set of issues.

I don´t think that anyone attack the U.S. or at least the U.S as a whole. We may attack your president or your foreign policy, i may even disagree with pro-gun threads or capitalism, but i don´t think anyone here dislikes everything american just because it is american. I think all Europeans in this forums can distinguish between diferent issues with the U.S and agree with some while disagreeing with others. However, the perception many people have that this is not true may be influentiated for that "with us or against us" ultimatum your president gave to the world.

If the U.S had been attacked, i would be with you. But this was a so-called preemptive strike, so although from a tactical point of view i may be inclined to agree with you, if you want to be something else than a terrorist, you shouldn´t be giving the "coup of grace" to everyone who defends against you. At the moment the U.S is commiting war crimes against the iraqui population (I refuse to call it collateral damage) and is telling the world how good, generous and well intentionated they are. The rest of the world is not buying it.

In any case there has to be some limits to what art is. Some time ago there was an international modern art exhibition, and the spanish representation didn´t finish to set everything up before the first visitors arrived. Three days ago, a spanish bishop said literally that the use of comdoms has its context in the prevention of the further spread of aids. Pretty much he said that if you are going to do it, at least put a comdom on. 23 hours later the Vatican forced him to rectify and the condoms are banned once again. Regarding the aids being a gay sickness, you would be surprised what is said in some radical christian circles. I had a teacher once that not only implied that about aids and gays but also he said that being gay is a form of illness like down sindrome.

nope, the church forbade two days ago the condom again, so no condoms in the misionary position. After all aids is a gay sickness... In other order of things, by definition, you cannot impose freedom on anyone, so i don´t know how he is going to acomplish that mission.

You guys need to read other news that just those right-wing slanted ones. Irak was, before the war, one of the few, if not the only islamic country that gave the most rights to the women. Have you ever heard of Dr. Germ? one of the top in SH government. I would be happy if when all of this ends, women still have as much freedom as they used to have, but chances are that when you guys pull out, some radical islamic group will take charge and women end up having to wear a burka.

Some people are blinded by hate and some are blinded by love. Many people in this forums thinks that Bush is close to the best thing that has happened to the U.S according to their posts. If Bush family needs that ego bust, let them have their ceremony. I just think it is unapropiate to spend that much money given the situation you guys live in. I concede that part of those millions will come back to the city, but not nearly as much money as they will be spent.
