Really people complain about having to wear proper attire to adhere to a dress code. For my job I have to provide a complete toolbox that I have about 40 grand in it. I have to provide steel toe work boots that typically cost more then 50 bucks if you like your feet. There are plenty of jobs out there that require what wallmart is starting. I have hesitated to enter this disscusion. My input doesn't pertain to the militarazation but the us vs them. I can come up with a few but the one that shows it best is. Me and my friend at 21 or 22 years old. Back in 1984 I believe. We were doing something we were completely in the wrong doing. But I was a bored country boy in the city no squrels to shot so we take a pellet gun and went cat hunting. Yes I know it was wrong this was long ago I would not do it now. With that said back to the story. After about a half hour of going through the housing tract. We wound up back next to my moms house where I lived at the time, just as a police cruiser passed us the other way. We were just coming up to the curb parking and my friend Gary driving said they are flipping around. So once he stopped I exited the vehicle while throwing my open container under his car hoping it would not be seen. Well they never said anything of the beer. But 2 seconds after I got out of that car a policeman with a twelve gauge was telling me to get down. After I did he proceeded to come up and aim at the back of of my head for about 15 minutes. While the other policeman was talking to and covering Gary with a 1911. About 5 minutes into it Gary was pronged out on the otherwise of the vehicle. This went on for awhile while they were saying they had reports of a shooter shooting at kids. Even though two minutes into the stop they knew it was a pellet gun. Up to this point I don't like what is happening but it is my fault. At this point Gary ask the cop if he knows Sergeant Joe Smith. Who happened to be 5 years retired from the same city. Gary then tells.him he is Joe Smiths son. Those two officers attitude changed imediatly. The one holstered his 1911 and helped Gary up. The other one even played his shotgun on the ground and helped me up and brushed the grass of the front of me. That has never happened before. They gave a lecture confiscated the pellet gun and said have a nice night. That is basicly where my involvement ends but 20 minutes later when we were standing in front of my house Gary's dad showed up walked across the grassknocked garyGary on his ass said get in the truck. Turned to me and my mom. Said sorry and left. It is amazing as to what one name drop will do to keep you from going to jail. When that name is a cop. That I am sure is true. I have seen 4 fatalities on a DZ. Everyone kept operations going as best they could. Once the departed was taken away it was buisness as normal. This was on three different DZs. Handguns are only used to fight your way to a good rifle

Well the quite often is subjective. I don't have hard numbers on the subject. But I have been on at least 6 work sites where someone was killed. None of them were shutdown. I am sure there was an OSHA investigation and maybe a lot more. But I was only a hand and not privey to any paperwork. I am aware of your typicle views and outlooks on subjects here. And I think they are logical and well thought out. But unfortianatly fatalities will continue to happen as long as there are living organisms. I am not saying that everyone involved acted like they should have. Just the opposite whoever decided on the Uzi for her deserves the blame along with the instructor. That's not really something to be proud of Wendy P. How many DZ's have you seen shut down because of a fatality? Because of regulations not financial reasons. If you have a construction site that has hundreds or thousands of hands on site. A lot might not even know a fatality happened for weeks after. Do you expect them to shut down a shipyard that might be working on 40 or 50 multimillion or billion dollar jobs because one person was killed in an accident? I can see having empathy and compassion for the deceased. But you can't expect to shit down the site compleatly. Unless it is something very major. Well since the victim/ instructor lived in Nevada, I don't see where worksafeBC laws or regs mean anything. People get killed on construction sites quite often with them never being shut down. Handguns are only used to fight your way to a good rifle

Your pretty sure about that? How many people have you killed to know how it effects the person. My uncle that was one of triplets killed his brother playing with a gun when he was 7 years old. I guaranty you he never forgot it until he died at 68 . He still was an avid hunter all his life though. He never blamed the gun. I loved and miss that man. My uncle. I agree wholeheartedly. The range had other full autos for her to shoot that would have been much safer. I would not trust the average Marine with a full auto Uzi without a lot more training than that. And the USMC doesn't either for good reasons. I would rather see her shoot a ma deuce than an Uzi. The ma deuce might scare her more but it is a lot safer being on a tripod. But if it was my kid I would have waited a few more years before allowing SMG's.
