Yes but what is deemed justifiable for a LEO gets you or I 20 to life. It gets them 2 to 6 months paid vacation. Now I know that is not all the time but to many times it is. What we need is when it is found to be unjustified the LEO has to pay the judgements to the families, rather then the taxpayers. And a neutral party to decide what is justified or not. You are right it should not be a death sentence just going to work, but if you pick a dangerous occupation it could be on any given day. It sucks but that is reality. I worked for many year's contracting in oil refineries. Any day I went to work could have been my last. There were a couple that came close to that. LEO is not the only ones that can die on their job. And they actually are rated lower then many other jobs for risk of dieing on the job. Sorta like the nuke agreement with Iran, allowing everyone might not be the best solution but it is a Hell of a lot better then taking them away from law abiding citizens while acknowledging criminals will not give them up. I do not worry about getting shot by CCW carriers and law abiding citizens... I do worry about gang violence.... and that includes the Blue Gang that is supposed to be protecting us.
