Well no the department does not pay for a cops criminal defense. The problem is the cop himself rarely ever faces criminal charges. It is the department that is sued and therefore the taxpayers pay out the multimillion dollar lawsuits. Now let's take immunity away from the cops and see how trigger happy they are. If more LEO's, judges, DA's, police chiefs, police unions agreed with you I don't think you would see the outrage from citizens over this stuff. Because it would not happen as much. I know the percentage of bad cops to good cops is low, but when the public pays the price for those bad cops they want that percentage even lower. On a per person basis I am sure the Hunter pays more. But there are far more people today that want to go on a photograph safari. And pay good money for it. The number of legal hunts are low. Not low enough in my views. The photo safaris are growing. I can understand the trophy hunters that pay massive amounts to shoot a animal that is past it's breeding stage and is not contributing to the health of the group. Those are normally controlled by the government or it agencies. In this case though I would like to host the shooter in my garage for a couple of weeks. Yes you should load any rimmed case the way you describe. But there are ones you can't do that with. Try loading a 50 round .22 mag like that you run out of room. My belt fed .303 after 10 rounds they would not be seating in the links anymore, that is why it gets linked one in front one behind and continues like that and feeds just fine. As to the cheap,accurate or reliable that is not all ways true. I have .22 semi-autos that will eat anything and others that will only work with one or two brands.and still others that I have to adjust the action whenever I change brands but I can get them to shoot all most any brand it just takes time. The .22 is capable of taking more game and people then it is given credit for. But I would not use it for self defense for anything higher then a snake or squirrel. Shot placement is too critical. Any semi-auto can have feeding problems. That is why you put a couple of hundred rounds through it of your preferred defense round before you say it is good for self defense. But .22's are a litle more finicky cause they have less of a charge to work the semi-auto action. Some .22 guns will eat almost anything others will only work with one or two types. And that is why some have an adjustment to the action to try to make more work. But that is a pain in the ass if you have to adjust by trial and error every time you find another brand on sale. I have to laugh every time somebody says we need tougher laws on guns. I live in a state that has very tough laws on them. The problem is they are not enforced. I personally know a sack of shit that stole a firearm from a friend drove across state lines with it . Did an armed robbery of a liquor store got caught and when all was said and done did 6 months in county jail as time served. So after being found guilty of 3 felonies he walked out of court a free man. Laws are in place to sentence for much longer then that. Why do we need more laws if they don't enforce the ones we have? But I am sure if we pass more stricter gun laws that will work just like it has with drugs. We as a nation have a people problem not an object problem. We have people that do not Cate about laws they are going to do what they want. And people charged with enforcing choose laws look at them as being unjust so they let them of easy.
