If you want a better, more thorough analysis maybe you should write to your congressman and senators and tell them to repeal their NRA inspired prohibition on the CDC analyzing gun violence. I don't find any thing funny about this. I truly hate it when I hear about an accidental shooting, first and foremost for the person or persons that got shot. And second for the fallout that will come from it. Whoever left this gun in the seatback pocket should face charges. Part of being a gun owner is storing them responsibly, this one was not. It would not have stopped the two year old from grabing it and shooting someone, but this is why I think gun safety should be taught in schools. It would teach proper storage and handling. And also make them not so much of a mystery to so many. I went to the only school in California in the late 70s that taught gunsmithing. More should today it is a valuable trade. Right along with woodshop, metalshop, welding, electronics, autoshop. All classes I took that are no longer available. But back to gun handling. People,don't want to educate our youth on the safe handling of guns, but fight tooth and nail to for all forms sex education. Wich before anybody wants to jump my shit I am not opposed to sex education.I am just amazed at the number of people that think one is necessary and the other one will cause more damage. I think they both are necessary. Use to be the family taught both. Then I don't know why maybe lack of knowledge it was recognized the need for sex ed in schools. Now there is a lack of knowledge,of firearms in the general population, and parents just don't know what is right or wrong to teach that is why they should be teaching safety in schools. So an increase of 1.19 per 100,000 due to lax gun laws works out to be an additional 3,500 people murdered EVERY YEAR in the USA. First you assume the increase is solely due to laser gun laws, that is facts not in evidence. It could be for any number of reasons. Second you assume the average of the 10 most restrictive is the lowest, nothing was brought up about the thirty states in the middle. They could be higher or lower nothing pointed that out one way or the other. You also assumed the average from the 10 least restrictive was the high mark. Nothing showing to prove that. So even if we are to take the average from the 10 most restrictive and say that is the low, and take the averages from the 10 least restrictive as the high. And the other 30 as somewhere in between. Your calculations are still off. The population of the top ten is all ready at 4.91 per 100,000 so you don't get to add them as an increase, the population of the lowest ten you do get to add a full 1.19 per 100,000. Now here is where it starts getting tricky, the 30 in the middle we have no starting data for so you don't know what to add to them. I am sure you would not accept such shoddy work from your students, so why do you want to present it here. You know your figures are not accurate but you will continue to try and defend them. There are guns sold in countries all over the world. Sneak one across the Mexican border rather than legally importing it, and it is completely untraceable. It is illegal because there is no record of it, no paper trail, it was never legal to begin with. They will come in even if we have a total gun ban and confiscate all "known" guns in the U.S. Same applies with a ghost gun. A machineist can carve plastic templates and build an exact replica from scratch. Do this without obtaining a BATF&E document assigning a serial number to that gun, it is a gun that a 14 year old banger is taking to school but doesn't "technically exist". So which one is "more of a right", to use his own words? i think his observation is that positive rights are inherently "more of a right" in practice than negative rights. Being allowed to do something is a weaker mandate than being entitled to it. Further, his comment points out that healthcare is indeed a positive right in this country via emergency rooms. That's not to say ERs are a great way of implementing healthcare as a positive right, it's just to say that they do. You have to realise kallend just has to berate other people rather then discussing the subject. Well I will resurrect this thread. First off I love this dog dearly. She was a free dog wandering the streets. But like my Grandpa told me there is no such thing as a free dog. She has cost me at least 15 grand In vet bills. She has been stitched up 7 times treated for snakebite, had a toe amputated she chewed on after surgery for a dog fight. The last was two lumps removed that was breast cancer. Oh and 6 weeks after I took her in from the street she had 12 puppies. I got rid of all But one that I kept. Wich brings us to today she is over 2 times the weight as when I got her. But she is not getting around well her rear legs are failing her. I have been giving her metacam for arthritis for two years now. Was wondering if anybody knew of anything that might help with mobility? I understand she is old and maybe it is just coming to that time. But as long as she is happy I will do what I can to keep her that way. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
