Who are you talking about? Pretty obvious isn't it? If you break the country down by Repub vs. Dem who do you think is the minority? I'll give you one guess...it's not the Dems! I guess we'll see in November. Yeah that is the problem lol...there is more of us but we can't seem to agree on anything, or get up and do something about it anyway. If you listen to a group of Coservatives, they pretty much all say the same thing. Dem/lib...Christ, they can't agree on ANYTHING! I'm as guilty as the rest as I think most of them are too damn conservative...think I'll be a libritarian. They are the closest to true freedom (as in anarchy) Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for lost faith in ourselves. -Eric Hoffer - Check out these Videos

Do you believe the mayor of SF is correct in ignoring state laws against marrying gays? Absolutely! The only way for the gay community to effect change is to defy unjust laws. (See Stonewall Riots and Gay Pride Day, riots in defiance of morals laws in NYC) It was the ONLY way that community was going change things for themselves. I find it ironic that the conservative agenda includes the idea that less government control is good but at the same wishes the federal government to enforce it's morality. Note that my complaint is with a limited minority segment of the population that happens to be the loudest right now... What do I love about America? I love the way Americans argue about everything and we beat our ideas against each other untill most of us come to a consesus! I love our strength, which is due more to our divesity then some bullshit idealize "American Family Values" that frankly never existied outside of the Cleavers. I love the fact that we confuse the hell out of everybody else! It seems that from the outside all this noise leads the foolish to believe we are fractured as a people. We will argue before durring and after at the meanings, causes and effects of an event like 9/11 but we will come blow you up if you fuck with us. I love that we constanly try to reinvent ourselves as thigs change around us. One thing we do better then other coutries is Evolve, despite the voices of intolerence and self seving morality. Oh yeah...BTW Ted Nuggent is a Moron and a hater! I like guns and shit that blows up too. I don't need an Idiot who appeals to my basest impulses to speak for me. Good and bad! My wife came out to the DZ and did her first Tandem...and after saying she was glad she did it, especially since I spend so much time doing it, but once was enough for her Oh well... But mayors who say "screw the law" and allow gay couples to marry are a GREAT example of what I was getting at. I'll let MLK Answer that one, "In no sense do I advocate evading or defying the law ... That would lead to anarchy. An individual who breaks a law that his conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law." FXC vs Cypres (was: Two Canopies Out)
WeakMindedFool replied to obelixtim's topic in Safety and Training
...A little clarification here please. The SIM say's in section 5-1-Skydiving Emergencies, Two Canopies Out 3. Stable Biplane a. Unstow the brakes on the front canopy and recover gently to full flight. b. Leave brakes stowed on the rear canopy. Now you kids have way more time under those canopies then I do. I'm not contridicting you, but if your going to contridict the SIM please give a reason. Chest strap save on load, How common is this?
WeakMindedFool replied to skydonkey's topic in Safety and Training
I did it! Right off AFF and doing solos. I was in the process of asking one of my instructors for a gear check. He was talking to another student when he looked at me, stopped in mid sentence and asked, "Are you ready to skydive?" I said "Yes" He grabbed onto my chest strap and pulled...It took twice but the thing came loose. What he may have lacked in "tact" he made up for by illustrating what could and probably would of happened on deployment. Needless to say now I gear check constantly. I wake up at night and look over at my rig and think, "gear check". I really don't want to die lying "next" to my perfectly good rig...Yes I got him a case of beer. Skydiving, Safety, and how this Newbie Sees It
WeakMindedFool replied to skylord's topic in Safety and Training
Ron...wanted to reply in the other thread but it was getting a little...pointless. Now I have very few skydives so my opinion counts for little to anyone but me (so now I'm going to give it anyway LOL). I agree with you absolutely! Anyone who thinks skydiving is "safe" isn't paying attention. The fact is that one of two things are going to happen when you jump out of an airplane, you are going to live or you are going to die. I know of no other activity where doing nothing will absolutely kill you (yah yah CYPRESS, it may or may not save you). Our emergency procedures must be implemented immediately and in the correct order or the consequeces WILL be...spectacular. Now here's the thing, I don't fear the environment. I have little or no anxiety about jumping and never have. My fear 'o' meter is broken, not just in skydiving but in about everything. Now I'm just guessing here but many people will equate fear to dangerous, this is wrong. I don't expect anyone to fear, but to make the jump from I don't fear to I am safe, is what I think your warning against. One should never forget that an environment is leathal. The moment you loose respect for the danger, Murphy will most definitly leave a mark! Peace! I with you!!! I'm 45 day's without a smoke after 20 years and it's gotten easier already! My wife told me I could spend all that cash on jump tickets (That's like $250.00 a month) Every time I want a smoke, I think about all those tickets and well, it's the easiest quittings been for me. Make the same deal with yourself and see how it works! Peace! Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for lost faith in ourselves. -Eric Hoffer - Check out these Videos
