US Soldiers punished for not Attending Christian Concert
dgskydive replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
The same thing would have happened if it had been a Muslim, Jewish or Buddist event. The same thing would have happened if it was an event that supported EVERY faith. This is not punishment, it was soldiers being told to do what they would normally be doing even if there wasn't an event to attended. These soldiers that are complaining of being punished, are, I bet the same ones that go on sick call all the time and complain when it is their turn to pull staff duty. They thought if they didnt go to the concert they would get to lay around in their bunks and do nothing. When their chain of command made them do something, they got pissed and started bitching about it. When I was in Basic training, James Brown came to Ft. Jackson. They gave us a choice, either go to the concert or stay behind and clean up the barracks. The guys that didn't go, started complaining that they were punished for not liking James Brown. No they weren't, they had the same chance as the rest of us to go. They choose not to go, knowing full well what they would have to do if they didn't. I never went to Church on Sunday, even though it would have been an easy way to get out of mowing the lawn and picking up trash or stripping and waxing the barracks floor. Should I have complained about religious people getting special treatment? They usually have details planned and then give people the OPTION TO GO to these types of events. They dont say, we have planned this Christian concert for all of you and you HAVE TO GO or you will be punished. This story is nothing more then a bunch of kids whining about not being allowed to lay down and sleep instead of doing what soldiers do. Dom -
US Soldiers punished for not Attending Christian Concert

Exactly. Happened to us as well when I was in basic and AIT. You don't have "free time" especially in basic training. Just like going to church on Sunday. If you didn't go, you were doing some sort of clean up detail. It wasn't punishment at all. You either went or you did the details that were already scheduled for that day. It did suck though to see people go to services just so they could get out of a detail that they didn't want to do. Not because they were religious. Dom -
THIS IS ISLAM, THE SO CALLED "RELIGION OF PEACE" :
dgskydive replied to Master_Yoda's topic in Speakers Corner
Not true. There is a hospital that says it will do it if they pass the sentence. http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/08/20/saudi.arabia.paralysis/index.html Dom -
I'm saying that trust is earned and they are not doing anything to earn that trust. The only way that the fundamentalists are going to be stamped out is from the inside of the Muslim religion and I see NOTHING that shows me that is happening. They are pushing so hard for their right to build and DO NOT CARE that it is insensitive and strikes a very real nerve with a very large portion of both the right and left. They want tolerance, but they have no understanding or concern for the way people feel about it. They can build a Mosque anywhere else and nobody would be raising a stink about it. That is evident by the 100's of Mosques already in NYC that nobody messes with. Dom

You cant say retarded or retard anymore. Dom

Probably, but to be honest. I think it was both of them. If Sprint has good coverage in your area. I would switch to them. $69.99 a month for unlimited Data, Text and mobile to mobile. 450 anytime minutes to landlines, free nights and weekends AND I get to upgrade every 12 months instead of having to wait two years Dom

I read a lot of the mobile tech blogs. I forget if it was Verizon or AT&T, but one of them actually has a 5gb limit even though it says unlimited. Minutes and texts are unlimited for sure though. Dom

Who gives a shit what religion the President is?
dgskydive replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I dont think that yes or no answers can cover it. Dom -
Most of you wont like this, but I dont trust them at all Wendy. They can say whatever they want on their FAQ section of their website. Donor list, who is going to provide the Donor list? If they do take money from Iran, you think they are going to put that on their donor list? Andrew Cumo has said that we will not look into it because he believes all of this is "Islamophobia" If they want people to trust and believe that they are not going to be supporting terrorist activities, then they need to say straight out...."We will not take money from known terrorist organizations." Dom

Did you know the Bath Party was heavily involved with the Nazi Party? Dom

FTR, I dont support organized religion. I dont trust the Catholic Church what so ever. Dom
-
No Oren, we do not and shouldn't. But the question was asked. They said they will not rule out the possibility of taking money from Iran. Why should we not look into it at that point? Dom
-
cuomo has said that he will not investigate the funds, even though there is a good possibility that they will take funds from Iran. I just don't understand that at all. Dom
-
I think it is more then a suspicion about where the money may be coming from. The Cordoba Initiative already said that they will not rule out taking money from Iran. Since they wont say that they "wont" take money from Iran, then I think it is reasonable to think that they may and we need to know that. Dom
-
Research it. He is not obligated to do so, but he can and should. Dom
-
ummmm. The Attorney General has the right to ask for this information since the Cordoba Initiative is registered as a charitable organization, and has not yet done so. Dom
-
Why don't they just open their books and show where the money is coming from to build it? Could it be that they dont want anyone to know? Could it be that they are getting money from Terrorist organizations? Dom

i found the link on CNN. Dom

This was on CNN. You may not like Pat Robertson, but he is not the one saying this stuff. Straight from one of the horses mouth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64V09tTIjR4 Dom

One New Yorker's perspective on the "Ground Zero mosque"
dgskydive replied to likearock's topic in Speakers Corner
I remember that he had some strong feelings about Ruby Ridge and I think he may have even traveled there and watched some of what went on. But I don't remember him ever saying that he blew up the building for religious beliefs. Obviously the way the govt handled the situation had some type of effect on him though. Oh, and I retract Heston's name. HE was pissed about gun control. lol Dom -

Timothy McVeigh was a Republican, an NRA member and raised a Roman Catholic. Maybe the OKC bombing should be associated with all those organizations. Quote But he didnt stand up and say.... "I blow up this building in the name of Regan, Heston and the Pope!" He was politically motivated right? Dom -

I'm not saying they should or should not get money. Just saying what was stated on the NY1 last night. Seems they had a deal with the Port Authority and then the Port Authority backed out with out telling them. Don't remember if it was Federal or State funds that they had been promised. Dom -

didnt follow your link but this story was on the news here in NYC last night. Seems that the Port Authority has moved on with out the church. The withdrew the offer to give money and allow them to use the proposed land. They are free to build, but not where they wanted to and not with the money they had been promised. Seems they were not even notified that the offer had been withdrawn. Dom
