Good news is that Olaf is ok. Bad news is he had a cut away on his first jump for the speed runs this morning! No offical results by the time I had to leave for work, but Heath had what looked like the fastest run up until I left. BLAZING!!!!!!! It was one of the sweetest swoops I have ever seen. There are Canadiens in the meet. Dave Brown had a nice run this morning as well. Clint, J.C. and Jim had nice fast runs as well. Jim is jumping the new Icarus protoype. To the naked eye it seemed Clint and J.C. came in faster under there VX's. Maybe Jim just had a bad run. For you Team Xaos lovers out there. Bad news. Luke broke his ankle yesterday and had surgery on last night. BTW he is 2 doors down form our own Eric Dennet in the hospital. If you don;t know Eric is the .commer that busted himself up a few months ago. SO at least they both have a skydiver close they can talk to when the drugs wear off! I talked to Scott Smith (meet director) He is going to do his best to update the PErris wweb site. If you guys look on www.perriscam.com and look at todays events. That is where it will be. The 124 ways are starting today so there should be some good pics of swopping and the big ways. Dom -
* The first true laptop computer was a Radio Shack TRS-80. * And if you were hip, you referred to it affectionately as a TRASH-80 _______________________________________________ WOW! I am getting old. I remember using my old black and white Tv for the monitor, and having my tape recorder there to save things on. NANU NANU! Dom

I jsut got off the phone with Dan at Manifest and he is not even sure yet. He did say that they will be posting on the Perris web site. The word is that all the U.S. Team is in. I have heard 2 conflicting reports about the Canadien team. One report says the top guys got in and the other report said that none of them made it in. So I am going to have to dig around after work at the DZ. If they don't post on the Perris site tonight, I'll try and get the list of names from Jim or Scott Smith and post it later tonight or in the a.m. BTW The Japanese did make it in! Them little fellers have been working hard the last few months out here at Perris. Don' t think they will win, but for some reason I am pulling for them to show really well. those guys are hard core! No matter how hard they land or how wet they get, they just keep getting back on the next plane and trying again. Dom -
Hey Lisa! I think you are under loading the canopy. When I got started jumping again and was on 1.0-1.1 wingloadings on the Sabre2 the end cells would never inflate on opening. Slider up a little as well. All you should have to do is pull the breaks down and hold them for a second. The end cells should pop right open and the slider should come down. Once you start getting around 1.3-1.4 I bet you don;t have that happen anymore. Dom

Infinity which are lightyears ahead of Dolphins. ----------------------------------------------------------- Gotta love the Infinity. I think it is the best rig on the market! Dom

PD makes good reserves. Aerodyne also has the new Smart reserve that is the most inexpensive on the market. THe Sabre2 form PD and the Spectre are great canopies for mains. Also Aerodyne has the Pilot which is my favorite canopy at the moment. Dom

It's hard to tell who that is. I think it is Heath but I'm not sure. Dom -
There are definatly only 2 women competing. Kerri and Kaz (SP). They both made there forst run this morning. Kerri was bringing the speed to. Dom

I'm going for Jim, J.C., Clint or Luigi. Thems my boys! Plus they do have a bit of a home court advantage. Also I think the Japanese my do really well. One of them has been here for a few months swooping that pond and he did very well on his first qualifying round this morning. I just can't prononce his name. Dom

(using Nelson's voice) HA HA! Dom

Oh my God! Ivan, do you read every post? It blows my mind how you always find that stuff. We must find Ivan a new hobby! Dom

I know that he also has video of a cool 5 way swoop form 2 days ago that was way better then the pic he posted. In fact I just watched it about 10 minutes ago! Dom

There where a shit load of video cameras this morning and it was only the qualifiers. I woud hope they would put something together. Take a loook in the swoopin forum. Diablopilot put up some pics from last night. Dom

Got up nice and early this morning to go watch the IPC World Cup. Good way to start the day. I only got to see the first 2 qualifing rounds but it looks like it is gonna be a great meet. It started last night with a jet doing flybys and then an acrobatics display by Mike Mangold. Then some cool swoops from the PD, Precision and Icarus boys. The Acrobatics was awesome! I've been to a lot of airshows, but when the pilot is an old school skydiver he nows what we like and gave it to us. At some points he was flying level with the Bombshelter patio striaght at it and then pulling straight up in what looked to be 30 ft of horizontal space. Standing out in the swoop park you could see people ducking on the patio. I'm sure it was an illusion but damn did it look cool. Dom

I am sure that Perris will post results at the end of the day maybe even throughout the rounds. This morning started kind of slow. The first 2 round got off then the fog rolled in just as load 3 was loading. Only 2 people got wet up to that point. Most of the guys (and 2 girls) seemd pretty comfortable with the course and did very well. To bad I had to come into work. Dom -
I never did that to you. Ever. ------------------------------------------------------------ Wouldn't have blamed you if you did! Dom
-
Gary why does that not surprise me? Dom

Rob and Kevin. Help me Bytch! Dom

I am not blaming Bonehead for anything that happened to me. ------------------------------------------------------------ Oh Really? ------------------------------------------------------------ I am very upset, and disappointed with your product. I figured that I should let you know about this before I post my event on dropzone.com and a few other locations. I will give you a few days to reply to me with any soft of reply or comment that you may have. I would be more than happy to attach your reply to my email to show both sides. I just hope that this accident doesn't cause me any permanent disfigurement because I was wearing one of your products. ------------------------------------------------------------ What was the purpose of that? Clearly you are blaming there product for what happend to you. Hey brother you jumped not them. You are the one that landed hard. Take responsiblity for your own actions. Know body told you to land on your head! I don't mean this as a personal attack, but it is because of people like you that so many stupid lawsuits are filed making all of our insurance costs go up. I guess this is a pet peave of mine. Like a person sueing a DZ because they landed hard and broke a leg. Is that really the DZ's fault? No! Is the fact that you had to get stitches Bone Heads fault? No! Take responsibility for your own actions! Glad you are ok and survived your experience. Please don;t answer any classifieds I may post. I don't want you to sue me or try and slander my name in a public forum because you have to cut away from a canopy I may have sold you but you trash packed and took a ride because of it. Dom

Why doesn't everyone stop picking at her? She is obviously going in the right direction. Regardless what size canopy she is jumping. I am as much of a CN if not more then the rest of you. I sell gear and give people the third degree all the time. She asked about how to get the most out of her canopy class! I don;t know Scott but if he is teaching a course then he hopefully knows what he is doing. Let him SEE her land and make a judgement. I know everyone means well but give her a chance. I have seen as many people break stuff and kill themselves under canopy as the rest of you. At least she is going in the right direction. This is why so many people get pissed off in these forums. She did not ask any of you for advice on canopy size. She asked about the class and how she could get everything out of it she could. Do you not think that the instructor will tell her to get a bigger canopy if he thinks that she needs it? Next time she may not be so quick to ask for advice if everyone jumps down her throat. I know that nobody wants to see her get hurt, NEITHER DO I! The one thing that I tell every new jumper when they ask me what size canopy they should jump. I give them my OPINION, then tell them to go and speak to there instructors. They are the only ones that can give the best advice because they see her everytime they jump. None of us have ever seen her land! Let the qualified people who see her all the time give her shit if the canopy is to small. Be supportive for sure! Just don't make this an unpleasant place for her to ask questions.

is a smaller container better for freeflying? ------------------------------------------------------------ Don't even start to think about container size yet! For you bigger will be better for a long time. Please don't get obsessed with the whole small container thing. You will have plenty of time to make smart informed choices later on. For now just worry about learning to fall stable and learning to pull and land the big beautiful canopy they will give you. Take your time and make staying safe and being in the sport a long time your first priority. Get whatever container fits the canopies you are qualified to jump. The smallest container in the world will not help you do the most important thing......... survive! That being said, I welcome you to our sport and wish you the best of luck!

Wasn't Laurie on the ground crew fo that? I know she was doing something yesterday. Dom
