  1. Rich you are doing avery good job of getting your name out there. Got my two FB messages today from ya. Dom
  2. Sometimes people come out and set up organized loads for the day with a group of people based on the skills of those people. Did he invite you on the jump? Or did you just go and manifest yourself on it without asking if you could join. That would have been rude on your part. Before you just jump on a load you should always ask the person organizing the load if you can join. With your jump numbers (if your profile is up to date) you may have been trying to get on a dive that you would not have been skilled enough to be a part of. Nothing worse then having a newbie mess up a biggish way skydive when you are expecting experienced jumpers and successful skydives. If it was just a "zoo" load different story. Sounds like this arrogant skydiver may have had a handpicked group. If you want on those types of loads, you need to jump with that organizer on smaller loads and prove yourself. Then you will get invited on the bigger jumps. Just because you have a rig doesn't mean people HAVE to jump with you. Dom
  3. Maybe the newbie wasnt ready for anything more then a 2way? Maybe the "cocky" jumper didnt want to hurt that guys feelings? Dom
  4. Yup. I would go hundreds of jumps with just a little bit of sweaty palms. Then all of a sudden I would get really nervous on jump run. I used to just take deep breathes and calm myself. Once out the door it was all good. Never got close to keeping me from jumping. Just weird that sometimes fear would poke its head in and mess with me a little bit. I always thought of it as a good thing. Kept me aware and paying attention. OH... and made it feel so much better when everything worked out just fine. If I had no fear, I dont think i would have jumped as long as I did. I think that is dangerous. Dom
  5. lol. I mean geez. If they are from the future, you have to think that they would be advanced beyond what we have now right? Cell tower? To people in the future that will be old tech. We will be the cell towers by then. We will all be implanted with wifi antennas in our ass cheeks at birth in the future. Our eyes will be taken out and replaced with AMOLED 3d screens that can not only show us what we are looking at with a killer HUD, but they will project holograms. Dom
  6. Geez didnt you ever watch StarTrek? They still use hand held devices. Or maybe she worked for a cheap government agency and they couldnt afford the "plugged in" model. Or maybe she hated using a bluetooth headset. lol Dom
  7. But IF it is a time traveler, why would you think that they would need Cell tower? IF something like time travel was possible, it would stand to reason that some type of technology would exist that would allow that person to communicate with the time they are from. Why would it have to be a cell tower? Dom
  8. \ Thats because whites stay home and smoke. I bet if they broke those numbers down to "where" the person was busted. We would see that the majority that were arrested for weed, were arrested smoking outside in a public place, or had it in their car when pulled over. Dom
  9. Youll never get what you are looking for on this site. Just what you should hear...weather you want it or not. Dave said. You did not do a check for controlability check. You only thought you did. Get it? Dom
  10. Them boys should get a raise. The free welfare housing should be going to retired and wounded and homeless vets. Dom
  11. Or they have (seriously) 4 or 5 roommates with temporary walls in place to cut a bedroom in half to make a 2 bedroom into a 4 bedroom. That is if you are a working member of society. If you dont work and get welfare, you can get a 4 bedroom apartment for nothing. Aaaaaannnnnd not have to work. I think I am on the wrong side of the workforce at times. Different issue I guess, but I wonder if my high rent somehow helps others get that free govt. housing. along with my taxes? That is part of peoples gripe as well. Lots of empty buildings. The Williamsburg area has tons of empty apartments, but the rent is not much cheaper at all and that is in Brooklyn not even Manhattan Dom
  12. The question is, what is the definition of a "decent" apartment. What you and I would consider "decent" from a So. Cal perspective, is not what is considered a "decent" apartment in NYC. I decent apt back home would be considered a very nice apartment here. Some of the "luxury" building I have seen here in the city come close to a "very nice" apartment in CA. Its just shocking to see the prices on some of the places in Manhattan. 3200 a month for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with a very small courtyard. I cant remember the SQ footage, but my bedroom was barely wide enough to fit a queen size bed. It was long as hell though. I called it my bowling alley bedroom. You make more here for sure, so it does kinda even out, but damn....they sure are proud of their apartments in NYC. What gets me is when you have a problem and the landlord or Super wants to act like they are doing you a favor for fixing something. When I moved into my new one bedroom this summer. I inspected it before I moved in. Put down my 3675.00 to move in and when I did....the freaking shower head was gone. Actually the entire pipe was missing. I was like what???? In two days they basically had came in and taken out shit that was there when I inspected it. When I called the owner, he came over and actually looked surprised at the situation. Then instead of just fixing it right away he offered to go ask my neighbors if I could take a shower in their place until he could get the super to replace what he had taken out. I said to him "how about you fix it now yourself? Or I can just cancel the check I gave you (he hadnt deposited it yet) and go find a new place." He went down to the hardware store and replaced everything in about 45 minutes. Rent is rent, but you shouldn't have to deal with stuff like that. It happens a lot in NYC. Dom
  13. I'm just stating that rent is to high. Even in a subsidized apartment it is outrageous. Not sure if the scenario you bring up would even be legal though. Dom
  14. Dont they use ash and shampoo to make ink in pri....resorts? lol Dom
  15. Pretty common here I think. Super lives rent free in the building but isnt paid very much since he is getting free room and board. He is never going to come close to winning an election, but the dude has a point. Rent is to damn high in NYC. You pay through the roof for tiny places and if you want a "luxury apartment" you better be making 250k a year. What does luxury apartment mean? It may be on par with a decent condo rental unit in Cali. A lot of hard working people do have to make a hard choice every month when it comes to paying rent or eating. Dom
  16. he cracked my up during the debate this week! He even had Cuomo saying it by the end Dom
  17. What do you consider decent? 1,000 a month in Manhattan? No way you find anything "decent" for that. Unless he likes living in 50 sq ft room with no windows. I just got a new apartment in NYC in June. Searched all the way from 169th St., down as far as 26th or 27th St. Both the East and Westside. The only thing you will find for 1000 a month seriously is a room that will fit a twin bed and maybe a table to eat on. If your lucky you will have your own bathroom. Seriously, there are places around 26th or 27th that actually still have communal bathrooms on each floor. Those were for 1k a month. Starting prices on anything decent is 1200. http://www.rentistoodamnhigh.org/ Dom
  18. Dont know about Denver, but I would not rent an apartment in NYC without having stepped foot in it first. Dom
  19. I did exactly that at the end of 08. Well, I was supposed to have a job when I got here, but shit happens. I cant speak for the other cities and the cost of living there, but here in NYC. That 15k will last you about 3 months. That is if you are going to try to actually live in the City. Rent is through the roof and they keep raising the taxes on EVERYTHING. In fact you can kiss about 5 or 6k of that right out the window just to sign a lease on an apartment. 1st and last, plus a one month deposit. Plus broker fees. Housing is a racket in NYC. YOu can find a place without using a broker, but it is a lot harder, especially if you dont know the City. Unlimited Metro cards used to go for 60 or 70 bucks, when i first got here, then they went up to 89.00 now they are raising them to 104.00 a month. This is all in less the two years! Service hasnt gotten any better, in fact they are cutting subway lines. Do you smoke? get ready to pay 13.00 a pack if you do. The City is great... but 15k isnt much with this economy. Jobs are hard to find and everyone from the mayor to the taxi drivers are digging deep into our pockets. Dom
  20. Your right...I found the story on CNN though. Dom
  21. Not just local anymore..... hit CNN front page. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/r/25353783/detail.html Dom
  22. Nuts come in all shapes and sizes. We all know that. You and a few others on here like to downplay the threat that comes from Islam though. To the point that it is really ridiculous. Every where you look in the world in this present day and time how is causing 99% of the major problems? Muslims. People can call me racist, bigot or what ever you want. Islam has problems and it is only getting worse. Dom
  23. Sgt. Airborne....you are a liar liar pants on fire!!! I remember 1st day of jump school and the Ft. Benning team was jumping into the Tower field for practice. Of course we all looked up to watch. Then ended up beating or boots for about 45 minutes while the Marines in the class had to sing From the Halls of Monetzuma. My favorite experience had to do with me going to Tattoo Tommy's and getting my airborne tat about 3 days before graduation. One of my black hats walked in while I was getting it. He smile and laughed under his breathe. Next day was saturday (or graduation was pushed back do to a fatality). Lets just say I was really tired by noon and sore all over the next day. Dom
