  1. I'd agree. As would many others with way more experience than you, me and him combined. V-b, if you aren't standing up all your landings now, going faster under something smaller is not going to improve them. If you aren't already adding speed for landing on what you have, why not switch to a more modern design canopy in the same size? Or in other words, which head are you thinking with?
  2. If you don't already understand why I might be upset about not getting to watch it live, nothing I can say will make you understand...
  3. I sure hope my art history teacher will understand why most of the class arrives late for our 9:30 class; the speech is scheduled for 9:05 my time. What dumbass would schedule the first day of the semester for an historic day like today?!?!
  4. Ben Underwood, a blind teenager who used echolocation to get around, died yesterday at his home. Take a few minutes and read about him and his family on his website. He was an inspirational young man with an absolutely amazing mother. Reading their story makes all those little irritations we deal with daily seem so unimportant. RIP, Ben.
  5. Unless someone removed it, that canopy should have a bridle attachment on it.
  6. Hey, you guys were right. Play it often enough and the fingers don't hurt nearly as much. Only been a couple weeks and I can already play "Horse with no name" (easy... two chords...). Started working on "Wish you were here" today and it's already almost recognizable as a song this evening.

    Hobbies?

Careful there. You may end up with more than you bargained for. I asked him for a Hurricane (drink) once and a year later he finally made me one... as I was heading out of that blasted state for the last time.
  8. Then you know what the right choice is.
  9. Do you want to be a skydiver or do you want to be a passenger? Skydivers deal with problems on their own. Passengers rely on someone else to do it for them. Fear is good. It reminds you that what you are doing is neither natural or safe. The exhilaration and sense of achievement you will feel after you land from your AFF jump will be exponentially bigger and better than anything you have ever felt before. Don't be a passenger.
  10. "Something to offer" would be explaining your good way to never do that, so we can all maybe learn something new. Oh. Silly me, thinking that learning something new was the point of these forums.
  11. Yay, now you can make the really big bucks that have been eluding you all these years! Congrats!

    Winter Sucks

16 degrees? Y'know there's a cure for that, right? It's called "moving someplace with decent weather."

    Winter Sucks

Could be worse. You could be sitting at a dropzone in 75+ degree weather with a rig that's in date and no money for jump tickets. Like I am.
  14. ...get rich and be famous. Seriously - I am a skydiving instructor because I want to be a part of as many students introduction to this sport as possible. There's nothing quite like the look on a student's face when they land from a good skydive; it's really cool to be a part of that. And it is an incredible feeling to jump with someone who is struggling with a category and see them finally "get it."
  15. Heading to Eloy tomorrow; be there 'til Sunday afternoon-ish. I get to do a few jumps while the s/o sits in class all weekend. At least one of us will be having fun.
  16. A better bet would be to get with a GEAR DEALER and go over the order. Riggers know how to pack parachutes. They may or may not know a damn thing about ordering a container. They may or may not be "he's" either...
  17. The first two I guarantee I'll stay away from (never was a Nugent fan and Stairway is just.... overdone), but the bass line from Smoke on The Water is like the only thing I can really play
  18. Happy happy birthday, now eat your f&^%ing cake. Happy happy birthday, or we'll punch you in the face!
  19. What's wrong with "Whip it?" That's a great song. Why, I remember... ummmm.... Hey. Shut up you young pup you!
  20. Yeah. Cuz then if you ever get lucky enough to actually meet me in person we can jam!
  21. Well, okay, maybe not until they bled, but they do hurt quite a bit... After four years of missing the guitar that I got, didn't play much and then tossed out sopping wet when I was in Florida, I've finally replaced it. And even better, I replaced it for damn near nothin'! There is an active freecycling community in the town I live in (if you don't know about freecycling, check out freecycle.org). I put up a request for a musical instrument; within two days I had a nice classical guitar that needed only a new set of strings (which set me back a whopping $8, installed). I've had it for a bit over a week now. I already know six chords, can go between A and D without a pause and today I learned the basic structure of "Horse with no name."
