And highly immoral too. I mean, a guys bum being that close to another guys crotch? Why if they weren't careful, that could lead to..... dancing!!
-
Would you have shared jello shots with me if my name was skycupcake?
-
If your religion taught that jumping out of airplanes is immoral and not something that people who live upright lives should ever do, perhaps because your god didn't intend for humans to fly (we don't have wings, after all), would you ever have strapped yourself to another man and left an aircraft in flight? Would your life be richer or poorer now if that had been the case?

Before the jello shots I waz skeered of you.

Water. But only because it's late; I had a big strong rum and coke at noon.
-
RSL, yes. Why? I'd prefer to hit the ground with line twists as opposed to at or before line stretch.

the attitude towards safety in this sport compared to in others
skybytch replied to DARK's topic in Safety and Training
Hopefully you wouldn't be laughing at a sober guy getting on a load with a kayak. Kayaks can and have been jumped. -

No. Skydiving as a sport is allowed to self regulate because of USPA. Without USPA, skydiving in the US would be regulated by the government, just like it is in the UK and many other countries. -
Tiny Javelin Narrow, K series.

F-111 is accurate when you are discussing the 0-3 cfm ripstop nylon that was sold under the brand name F-111. I think it's funny that everyone says "zero porosity" which isn't accurate. It's just more fun to say than "zero permeability."

would you let me jump a smaller chute at your dz?
skybytch replied to MADPROPS's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Same answer. Read the incidents forum - how many recent canopy collisions happened with only two canopies in the air? -

skybytch replied to MADPROPS's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If it were my dz, no. Not because I don't think you can land it safely, but because you have very little experience flying any parachute in traffic. Hurt yourself, okay. Hurt someone else, not okay. -
What do you do when you realize your life is completely fucked?
skybytch replied to iluvtofly's topic in The Bonfire
Then why are you feeling that way? Reframe it!!! You didn't FAIL. Not passing the test could very well be a sign that job was not going to be a good fit for you. Perhaps all of this is the universe is telling you that it is time to move on. Keep your tail out and wagging and let your family help you move to where they are. It's not mooching if they've offered! And quit beating yourself up dammit! You are NOT a failure!!! -
I'm currently working on Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here." An excellent choice for the dz bonfire, imho...

No one wants to jump with a newbie :(

Have you considered the notion that the OP isn't a troll? Maybe she has a life outside of the internet that doesn't allow her the time to check in on the thread every hour or even every day. I know, what a concept, a life that doesn't revolve around dropzone.com... -
LOL! imho, one of the nicest things about the dz at Lincoln is the dzo. Case in point - the first day the Otter was there, it broke after the first load. Most dzo's would have had smoke coming out of their ears having a bunch of jumpers on the ground and no plane to jump from; Pat was still smiling. I think that says a lot.

USPA Membership Dues& Rating Fees going up?
skybytch replied to chriswelker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As the recent election results clearly show, the majority of USPA members are either happy with what the organization is doing or they don't give a shit as long as there are airplanes available for them to jump from. They also don't care what a bunch of self-important whiners with loud keyboards (that'd be those of us who post here) think either. How many of the people bitching on this thread have contacted their RD or any ND about an increase in dues and rating fees? -
USPA Membership Dues& Rating Fees going up?

So USPA dues haven't even kept up with inflation. Less than $5 a month to keep the government from regulating us like government's in other countries do? It's a bargain. -
USPA Membership Dues& Rating Fees going up?
skybytch replied to chriswelker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'll answer my own question. In 1991, renewal was $33.50. Today it's $49. So it's gone up $15.50 in 18 years - less than a dollar a year. In return for which we get a magazine, insurance in case we land on Farmer Joe's horse (possibly worth thousands of dollars), and representation in Washington (do you really think we'd have a 180 day repack cycle without USPA?). For less than $5 a month? C'mon people, some of you pay more than that for a latte every day! You also get an organization that you can bitch and whine about when it doesn't do things your way or wants to take yet another dollar a year out of your pocket. That alone should be worth the price of admission. -
AFAIK, the cancer came back with a vengeance.

My older brother did all the stupid stuff. I learned from his mistakes. I was a perfect child... until they gave me a car.

USPA Membership Dues& Rating Fees going up?
skybytch replied to chriswelker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How much have dues gone up in the past twenty years? Seems to me it was around $40 when I first joined in 1990 - but that was a long time ago and the memory could be wrong. -

skybytch replied to iluvtofly's topic in The Bonfire
Whine, bitch, rant, cry and complain about it for the appropriate amount of time. Then get back up, brush self off, reframe the negatives into positives and get the fuck on with it. Hope tomorrow is a better day for ya. -
ANOTHER downsizing-thread..
skybytch replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Whose ass is going to be under the canopy? Who gets to enjoy the pain meds if shit happens to you? Your instructors/mentors? Yeah, I didn't think so. -
If you remove something that a reserve canopy was TSO'd with, the TSO is void. Removing the bridle attachment would make the canopy fairly useless as a main. There's no good reason to remove it, but stupider things have been done by skydivers and riggers in the past...
