I'll second that. I was an S&TA for a small dz 10 years ago. I took the job on because no one else at the dz with the qualifications was willing to do it. I quit when a group of jumpers, including the dzo, did a demo jump without consulting me. They exited at well below minimum exit altitudes and then proceeded to brag about it to my face.

When those decisions affect lives other than your own, those "what if" moments come often. I was 18 and had just given birth to my son. The plans were all in place for a family to adopt him. I changed my mind. What if I hadn't? Not just my life but also the lives of my son, my parents, the family who wanted him to be a part of their lives, all would have been very different than they are today. Did I make the right decision? I hope so. For myself, I'm not at all sorry I chose what I did but I sometimes wonder if it was the best choice for him.

Set up a slack line (Google it; there's lots of info out there) and walk on it. Saw some rock climbers doing this in a film at the Banff Mtn Film Festival world tour last night. Now I want to set one up at home and the dz; it looks like fun!

Uh, no. Myself, Sebazz and Peter and Steph Learmonth put that one on. Yup, I did my first 600 or so jumps at Paso. Jumped there from February 1990 until September 1996.

Sure. Any pilot save counts - GA, glider, military or jump. A lot of riggers pack a lot of pilot rigs; it'd be nice to have some idea of how often they get used.

Maybe August, maybe September. I still don't know the actual dates; that's up to Mom. Personally I'd prefer August; Prague is gonna be a bit cold in September. I'm just happy that I talked her into flying in and out of Amsterdam - and yes, she does know why I want to fly in and out of Amsterdam.

Okay, rephrase. Has anyone packed a pilot rig that was used to save a pilot's life? I know of one rigger in California (not me) who can claim one. Anybody else?
