  1. er... just tell him what you put in your last post... its: (A), the truth, and (B) entirely understandable. Who would dream of questioning the fact that your fiance needs to hire a full time attorney and well, um, you're an attorney.
  2. is that in total over its life span? or per service/battery change? if you mean per service/battery change (surely you must) then try multiplying that by the number of times you have to do the service and replace the batteries in the life of the cypres... you might come out with a figure that more closely equates to meatbomb's.
  3. I think the concensus from here so far is therefore that you should spend it - ie, everyone's saying having both is better than only a pair of pants or a full suit. The whole point of the 2-in-1 is that it IS both. (its only like £8 at the mo anyway) See if anyone comes back with a comment on how good a 2-in-1 works as both though, maybe its a case of "jack of all, master of none"?
  4. With the exchange rate at the moment, I get about $2 US to the £.... hmmm...... I'll take 2, then we can race em.

    I HATE thieves

I can sympathise dude. Just before christmas some shit broke into my car and ripped the steering wheel clean off. Snapped the inch think steel rod. God knows how. They then riffled through the car without stealing anything and wandered off. They even handled the CD auto changer thats in the boot (I know cos it was moved) and didnt take it or the 10 CD's that were in it. Had the same thing happen 6 months before when some shit jammed a screwdriver behind the lockplate and got in (parked in a different area of town). They put the facia on the stereo from under the seat and smashed the ignition off. Evidently they couldnt break the steering lock so just left - again didn't steel anything. They even left their screwdriver and bit of scafolding poll behind. Bastards
  6. You can build one yourself - all you need is 14 two-ers, a flat yellow eight-er which must be yellow - MUST BE YELLOW, a thin sixteen-er and one of those spinny things.
  7. I claim first rights here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=806208#806208 but I aint paying beer
  8. Sweet dude, hinton? Emo sort you out? Charge ya? Y'know we're gonna want beer from you on thursday...
  9. They're the same camera electronically and optically. They only differ in the way they are layed out. Therefore your only consideration needs to be how you want to mount your camera.... side go for PC, top go for TRV, (I've seen pics of these reversed but they stick out a lot).
  10. Its been done before: http://www.parachutehistory.com/skydive/petebill.html
  11. We only discussed that to stop the Americans whining
  12. Ah yeah - forgot about the whole prevalence thing - yes far more outlets for them in the US and more commonly owned but the licensing requirements were actually prety similar.
  13. 20 years ago they were just as easy to get hold of in the UK. Hungerford tightened up on them then after Dunblane they all but became illigal.
  14. thats exactly what I thought and was about to post the same. Reminds me of that old "african american englishman" thing a while ago... odd
  15. Hehehe - I pick my nose and fart as I post. Sorry you experienced racism - there are dumb fucks everywhere you go in the world. I hope the worst that most people experience here is light hearted xenophobia - we tend to look on that as humorous and just good sport.
  16. Oh and my girlfriend wants me to accredit her with this as she sent me it. So everyone say thankyou to Rebecca or she's sulk.
  17. History would tend to indicate that Europeans have a much greater interest in killing each other rather than everyone else.... and I'm not sure how Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan counts as the same "neck of the world" as Europe.
  18. A Welsh man buys several sheep, hoping to breed them for wool. After several weeks, he notices that none of the sheep are getting pregnant, and phones a vet for help. The vet tells him that he should try artificial insemination. The farmer doesn't have the slightest idea what this means but, not wanting to display his ignorance, only asks the vet how he will know when the sheep are pregnant. The vet tells him that they will stop standing around and instead will lie down and wallow in grass when they are pregnant. The man hangs up and gives it some thought. He comes to the conclusion that artificial insemination means he has to impregnate the sheep himself. So he loads the sheep into his Land Rover, drives them out into the woods, has sex with them all, brings them back, and goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes and looks out at the sheep. Seeing that they are all still standing around, he deduces that the first try didn't take and loads them in the Land Rover again. He drives them out to the woods, bangs each sheep twice for good measure, brings them back, and goes to bed exhausted. Next morning, he wakes to find the sheep still just standing around. Try again. he tells himself, and proceeds to load them up, and drive them out to the woods. He spends all day shagging the sheep and upon returning home, falls listlessly into bed. The next morning, he cannot even raise himself from the bed to look out of the window. He asks his wife to look, and tell him if the sheep are lying in the grass. No, she says, they're all in the Land Rover, and one of them is beeping the horn!
  19. yeah - BH range is def "hard shell" - thats one of the reasons why I agree its a really odd rule and not suprising the real meaning is totally ignored. But I can't really argue with the fact that a pro-tec gives better protection. Its even more perplexing that the rule is simply interpreted it as "full face" when that is absolutly not the true wording.
  20. try droping that nice Z1 from 10ft and see if there's a crack in it. do the same with a protec. now compare the amount of padding each has. thats why its that way round
  21. its cos the actual rule is "hard shell helmet" ie b4 then you must wear a pro-tec (if you ignore those crappy gaths). If you can land accuratly you ought to be able to do so without biffing in every other landing like the average student does. so if you can land all nice - you can wear a helmet that doesnt offer the best protection available
  22. hey.... I'm hated cos Im an argumentative know-it-all bastard, not cos Im a lawyer
  23. I know most of the things I posted are done by custom in the US. Im not trying to join in the slanging match, just point out that the inference that european jumpers are less safty concious is simply rediculous. Over and above that I would say that in my experiance (and yes I have jumped in the states) US jumpers do not have anything like the system we do over here for signed off flight line checks involving all kit, dedicated jump masters who's resp it is to tell you what the exit order is or worries over jumping with others. You point to A licence as the requirement for jumping with others - we have a specific licence called Formation Skydiving 1 where jumpers have to demonstrate specific skills with a view to being competent enough not to kill everyone else - same goes for freeflying. Remember, my intention was not to say that american jumpers/system is less safe, merely to defend the suggestion that european jumpers are.
