Accepted - Billvon's list is a minimum, not an indicator of a need to downsize.

Looks a lot like a scar a friend of mine from school had. He got it by messing arround with a circular saw and all but took his hand clean off with it. How’d you get yours?

I miss out on the fly-by's. Although we did get one from Concorde late last summer as she flew in on her last flight to spend her retirement at the airfield down the road from my house. I get to see her parked up every time I drive to the mall. (oh and theres a supermarine Spitfire at the airfield that practices its aerobatics over the house some weekends... but I only get to see that if I dont go to the DZ so its a pleasure/pain thing).

Medical Insurance through your Employer - Funny Story
mr2mk1g replied to stoneycase's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I now have this great image of a battered and bleeding skydiver clutching one of his own limbs and dragging a destroyed canopy, shrugging off all help as he desperatly trys to take the last few steps into the ER on his own shouting "I gotta get to the hospital on my own!" -
If I lean back I can see this too. Theres loads of beautiful old buildings round me as Im in the old financial district. Below me are the old docklands (bristol has been an important port for centuries) which have been regenerated into posh bars and a science museum with loads of large modern art exhibits outside.

whatabout between the red packaged and the yellow packaged? -
All are from their range of designs. The only feature anyone asked for that isnt on the options list is my asking for my suit to be made with yellow overlocking stitch between red and black areas. They happen to have the exact "flame" design I want to go with my rig, pants and helmet anyway. I can't speak for what everyone else ordered - but they've all gone for some cool designs. One of my friends has ordered a suit with a great big bolt of lightning down the side - he'll stand out as much as me in my flames.

thats because he hasn't upgraded his account to a "premium" account. Tell him he's an arse cos its free - all you have to do it click on "upgrade my account" then he will be able to accept a credit card transaction (he'll be charged 2.9% though so if you want to stop him whinning you may want to add 2.9% to what you pay out. (Id say thats his problem though for not being able to use paypal right).

now THATS what I'm talking about

Ah-ha - the file has to be labeled DSC00001 - DSC99999. Then it displays it. Easy when you know how.

I've never seen a skyhook system! I thought the whole point of it being a hook was that you could deploy the reserve wihtout first cutting away and the hook would just unhook because of the direction of travel. Otherwise all you would need is a solid attachment point. You scenario only needs you to go straight to the reserve - there's no need for a spinner - just a lack of a cutaway. Surely this cant be true either as its such a common place scenario that it must have been accounted for. I've never seen a skyhook system!

Again, I gotta ask, A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT? REALLY?
mr2mk1g replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
Maybe they can get married so long as they sew a symbol on their cloths so everyone knows they're not really "married" just "bender married"... something highly visible... like maybe a bright yellow star or something. If people are uncomfortable with that then why don't you just build a lovely summer camp for them in the woods and they could all live there together in peace. There would be great rail links and a lovely communial shower for them on arival with all the free Xyclon B they could want. We should also make sure there are a load of nice big bread ovens. I hear they like bread. If your offended - read more history. (I wonder how many times I have to post this) -

She wouldn't want to burn any excess calories by standing or anything would she - no that would be disasterous, she'd risk waisting away.

Sometimes yes. But sometimes I think polls are an incredibly usefull feature and I almost wish that there was an option of "Poll but no comments allowed" to keep it from developing into a slanging match/general debate. Somtimes all I want to know is the "common belief" even if that belief is not strictly correct.

would you Sue the canopy manufacturer
mr2mk1g replied to Tinkerbelle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
CRW open out the door so they are not going at terminal when they deploy. Opening at terminal in a thin air environment can cause hard openings regarless of packing technique. I would describe this as a bad idea if you're worried about increasing the incidence or intesity of opening shock. I wasn't trying to argue with you about sueing or not - just trying to help by pointing to a possible cause for your really hard opening. -
My home DZ said they had many instances of it with spring loaded pilot chutes. They changed to a lighter weight metal spring and they decreaced in incidence. It was something we were trained for and warned about as a minor mal which could potentially nessecitate a cutaway. We were warned to check controlability and make our decision on whether to stick with it or not asap. We were only to make as few as possible light turns as they can decrease the air pressure in the canopy and allow it to a bow tie. I had one once on jump

Yes its in the right folder as its where the photographed images are on the stick. I'll try deleting (or at least removing) the index file tonight, cheers.

Yeah, we have such a sweet deal going at the moment. Everything we buy from the states is effectivly half price at the mo. (virtually).

Has there ever been a moment when you have felt truly alone ? Yes - a solo hop and pop over Perris at 12k. I watched the plane fly off and thought - thats it, Im on my own. And I loved the feeling. It was just me and my canopy.
