  1. The reserve was PD. We must have had about a dozen rigs out there in our club and it just seemed like policy - they looked, said "oh, no seal - thats right your english" and moved on. The club used to go to another US dz - never had any probs there either. Should this be something we need to consider? This year we're going back and there are going to be more like 30 UK rigs out there, me with a wings/pd combination... are we going to turn up and all have to get a repack??
  2. The a/v cables on the PC101 and before are industry standard. Sony's not going to drive those under simply by changing theirs - they're just going piss everyone off. Jumper wise though you might be right as we all use sony so they may slowly dissapere. Still dumb though as thier new cable does exactly the same thing as the old cable - it just has a different connector on the end... (if it aint broke?...) The battery on the 101 is the fm50 - the 330 comes with the fm30 which is the same physical size but at less powerfull. Apparently the fm50 is 1.7 times more powerfull so it would be an advantage and has little in the way of a down side. You can pick em up for like $30 though (if you try hard enough) so just buy a spair.

    This sucks

sick fucks. Why would someone do that? I mean seriously... it beggers belief that someone would go to such efforts to be so cruel to a living thing.
  4. Thats a slightly different issue. Thats questioning the reliability of what Cannuck has said. Not somthing I've seen raised yet and not something I can comment on as I have no idea who he is. Apparently others on here do know him though. Can they rely on what he says? If they can rely on his word do you think they might avoid whoever has attacked him in the real world?
  5. does e-mailing the boss indicate: A) they have a problem with him posting on DZ.com? B) they are an arse? If you think they are simply carrying out a vendetta against DZ.commers then you're right - only DZ.commers ought to care. If you think that it might just indicate that this person is an arse then what they do in the real world may just be an issue to you. Do you happily associate with arses or do you try to avoid them because you know the have a tendancy to treat people like shit and do nasty things to them? I avoid people like that. I don't mind if I glean that information from a website, a book, or personal experience. If the info is reliable its worthy of note.
  6. why when I was in the US last year did I not need a seal on my Javelin? Its TSO'ed but packed in the UK without a seal.
  7. most anoying one I get (and really ought to sort out) is one which somehow sees what I have bought on Ebay and brings up a search window with similar products.... but of no use... such as I buy Sony miniDV tapes and next time I go to My Ebay it pops up with "buy our new Pannasonic piece of crap DV camera..."
  8. reputable???? I don't think I've ever had a pop up from a reputable firm. Maybe its just where I surf, but they always seem to be casino's, on line pharmacies, porn sites, dating agencies, crap crap crap crap crap.
  9. he didn't say they wouldnt - just that this might follow them... what if at the DZ where they're welcomed with open arms there is one skydiver who knows they did this? Would that constitute this "following them around"? They wouldnt even have to tell anyone else there about it - that one person reacting to the fucktard that did this would be ramifications from this.
  10. Best put the name in a new thread when you find out who it is. No need to personally attack them. Just state the facts. Thats all that will be needed.
  11. So long as your reserve has been legally packed in your country of origin and is within date according to the US repack cycle you do not need a seal on it
  12. I guess a full answer would include a request for further info. "greatest" is such a relative word. It depends on what you want to do with it. The 330 is the latest on the marke and is the smallest 3mega pixel camera available. Its bigger and heavier than some cameras so if you're just fun jumping there are "better" ones such as perhaps the 101 or 105. Its basically the same as a 120 but with better stills quality... so in a sence the 120 could be better as its half the price. If you want to go pro there are much better 3CCD cameras... but they're huge by comparison. Hell if you want to top mount it there are "better" cameras for the job, such as the TRV range, notably the 19 and 22. So... "greatest" at what?
  13. (SFW) he looks like he's really angry with her - sort of "you aint gettin me in trouble again THIS year"
  14. I'll seccond the idea of telling their employers. If this person is doing it from work/on work time/from a work PC/checks up on you from their work etc, their employers should freak at the idea that they could be held vicariously liable for their employees wrong doing. They will (ought to) imediatly take action against their employee for fear that they might be had up for it themselves. Nice little way to get them back - an eye for an eye etc.
  15. I think that would be the technical term, yes.
  16. um 0-170 in 2.6 seconds.... Im in
  17. The first three, yes. The last one is my housmate and has arround 400 jumps (hence the camera on his head and the Stiletto above him).
  18. Ok, UK law as it stands now... we already have the right to kill in certain circumstances. We always have the right to use reasonable force in our own defence, the defence of others, and the defence of property. The thing is, our law has dictated that it can never be reasonable to use lethal force in defending property. Its one simple rule for all situations, its just firmly established that lethal force is just far too much for it to be ever considered “reasonable” in the defence of property alone. Someone’s life is another matter. In the appropriate circumstances, lethal force can be justified in the defence of your own life – no problem there in English law. I’m not exactly sure how the listeners of the “today program” want the law to change. From the write up of the article it would appear that they are demanding what already exists. If they are asking for any more than that, they can forget it, it simply wont ever happen. The law as it stands is well entrenched, and not only that, its right. And it’s only a radio show for God’s sake. There’s no need to prevent situations like the Tony Martin case. The biggest problem with that situation was Tony Martin is a raving nut bag - the jury put him away because he came across as a fruit loop and had killed someone. Many other people may have fared better in the same situation. The other answer is that you can only shoot at people with a shot gun if you are in danger or threatened. I guess the jury concluded he wasn’t and thus lethal force was not “reasonable”.

I'd want a big motorised rock to roll in front of the house and garage for when I'm away... can't burgle it if you don't know its there... especially not if theres a big fucking rock in the way.
