You ought to add to the list that a Retrosexual should be able to give a woman a damn good orgasm. In fact, the the bigger an orgasm he can give her, the more manly he is.

Wings owners: where do you stow your excess brake line?
mr2mk1g replied to gus's topic in Gear and Rigging
ooo - educate me as to this possible mal. What happens where now? I'm not sure what you mean by "if the toggle is pulled through the loop". -
Wanting To Learn .. Long And Boring, my opinions
mr2mk1g replied to Jumpmunki's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
So chat to you're instructors and get one of them to go through some CRW with you on the ground then do a couple of CRW jumps with you. If they don't do it at Peterlee then go visit Hinton where there's a strong CRW element (or anywhere else that does it). I've sat through their CRW training and found even the ground element very informative. My mate then went on to do a CRW jump with the instructor and ended up docking a couple of times and finshing up with a downplane all on his first CRW jump. -
FAA Endorses Skydiving Insurance Requirment
mr2mk1g replied to base363's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is there a right of appeal to the decision that has just been reached? Have you spoken to a lawyer? In the UK, there would be a very good argument for saying that requiring you to have insurance, (even where they require every other type of aeronautical activity to have insurance), should be regarded as unreasonable and therefore in violation of the City regs. That’s England though... I have no idea if US law embraces the same concept of unreasonableness UK law. Check with someone who does this as a living, they will be able to help even if the “help” is just telling you you’re screwed. -

Wings owners: where do you stow your excess brake line?
mr2mk1g replied to gus's topic in Gear and Rigging
Before you push the top break horn through its keeper hook the loop of excess break line over the top of it. Then hook the two loops of excess break line created by this move under the bottom horn before pushing that through its keeper. Your break line will then be neatly s-folded along the side of the break and kept tight and away from any snag risk. I think there’s a pdf on the sunpath website showing a very similar method, but it should be good for any Velcro-less toggle set up. -
I thought I ought to point out that this is nothing to do with BB guns. The guns that are sought to be further controlled fire lead pellets that are the same shape and diameter as (eg) M16 bullets (5.58mm vs. 5.56mm) albeit somewhat lighter. The guns are semi-auto pistols, revolvers or rifles made of metal and wood/abs plastic and look virtually identical to an ordinary firearm. They work in exactly the same way too in that they have self-contained cartridges containing propellant and projectile which may be loaded into a magazine. They only way they differ is that in that instead of cordite in the cartridge there is compressed gas. They are capable of killing. I'm not expressing a view here on the proposed legislation, just clarifying exactly what the issue is because people appear to be under the impression the legislation refers to those little plastic things which fire neon yellow 6mm ball bearings.

HEY ! Nobody asked ME if I wanted to file a lawsuit !!! (check the profile and you'll see why)

hehehe whole party of brits.... last count I think we figured going on a hundred of us between the two DZ's

The Paratec FreeZR is much bigger and looks just like a motorcycle helmet. You could probably sell two of your helmets and buy a brand new FreeZR at no expense. They even have mirrored or tinted visors (not so great for RW).
-
you replace it (if its worn out, it will not have the elastic strength to collapse the pilot chute, so worst case scenario is the PC is always un-collapsed.)
-
To brits when we hear "pants" we don't have an image of a pair of jeans or some slacks - we see some big, oversized Y-fronts that are slightly greying. Not a great image hey? Now apply that image to a concept!

Its one of those three tier malfunctions... any one of the tiers not being there could have led to an ok outcome. 1. Uncocked pilot chute - appears to have lifted D-bag out of container but not much more. If it were cocked everything would have gone fine. 2. Tight locking stows / double banded stows (or something like that) means that the low drag of the pilot chute is insufficient to open the d-bag. If they had been looser then maybe the bag would have opened and the canopy would have deployed. 3. Reverse risers fitted to a container not intended to use them. This meant that when she cut away from the malfunction above her head (low drag so still in belly to earth position) the risers locked against her shoulders and prevented a complete cutaway. Any other risers or reverse risers on a rig designed to take them and she could probably have been able to clear the mess above her before deploying her reserve. (probably)
-
ah you arse - you know a reserve doesnt really count as an F111 canopy for the purposes of that statement. Edited to make it "no F111 main canopy". You managed to find transport to the southerns then?

We're looking at maybe creating a safty and training section within our forum which will include documents like that and links to sites with safety resources. Links to all the manufacturers would be good too, but probably best placed in a dedicated links section - I'll suggest it to the guys who administer our website. I did forget the link to The Mag claissifieds though - cheers.
-
I'll add some on booties... do you not think weight belts would be better left to later? - this is aimed at people with 20 odd jumps.
-
Cheers maybe at the top of the gear section it would be wise to stress in big letters to speak to instructors about kit choices -It will be appropriately headed with some kind of general advice along those lines at the top. no harm in including the words "or bigger". - true some mention of staying within the manufacturers recommendations for their weight and experience level -Very good point - will include remind me never to lend any of your lot a knife -hehehe, I must have about 3 or 4 and haven't bought one.

I've just written a first draft of a gear FAQ for newly qualified jumpers in the uni club I'm involved with. We’re in the UK so some of what I say may sound odd, such as DZ’s requiring RW training before FF, but that’s the way it is over here. It’s long (4500 words) so I don’t expect too many responses from you guys. It will hopefully still be fairly accessible in its final format though, as each question will be duplicated at the top of the page in a list of hyperlinks taking you to the appropriate answer. It'll be for inclusion in our website. It’s designed to point new jumpers in the right direction for what kit they might want to think about buying whilst trying to steer them away from going out and killing themselves with a stiletto 135. Any opinions will be welcomed.

English chocolate rules. And can you believe the Euro nutters wanted to re-brand it "vegilate" so it would stop harming their chocolate sales! The cheak of it... esp when double bind tests showed they liked ours better. whohahahhaa

I have to dissagree. We have riggers in this sport which our own built in escrow service. Use riggers for this service. They can perform an inspection for you - as cursory as "yeah its a rig" if you want or as detailed as opening it all, full inspection, porisity tests and repacking it for you (a repack is advisable with seccond hand gear anyway). At the very least you keep the money in the sport and bring a rigger some trade. USE RIGGERS !

There are build quality issues with the Z1, but it’s a nice enough helmet overall. I like the way you can lift the visor right out of the way. I like the Oxygen, I’ve found it very comfy but this will differ from person to person. Many people find the visors become a pain in the ass. There's also the new FreeZR from paratec. Looks a very nice helmet and is comfy. It’s big though and I suspect they may develop visor issues same as any other. You can only lift the visor a limited amount. See reviews here:http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/464.html

Does it record the sound onto the tape but fail to play it back? (ie the tape plays fine in another camera) Also do tapes recorded with other camera's have the same distortion when played in your camera?

Normally I'd say "get a room"... but... um... two chicks are hitting on each other

And if you see a rig on e-bay for $1400 with only 30 jumps on it - DONT go there. Seriously, if you buy seccond hand from someone you can't actually meet in person, use a rigging loft as an escrow service. Have them check the item over and confirm description and condition before you hand over money. Any seller should be happy doing this (assuming you come to an agreement over shipping costs in the event of a no-sale). If they refuse to do so, walk away. No deal is good enough to risk a few grand on... and if it looks good enough - its probably bent.
