  1. Why the hell not. The sport has a very cool image, gives awsome visuals, and is full of professional and amateur photographers alike. We put our camera's through hell every day they keep on surviving even though they are abused in ways they were never intended for and whufo's would never dream of. We have a 99.9% Sony saturation and are vocal about recomending them because quite simply it's the only camera that can cut it. "We" as a community know intimately every camera Sony has ever produced and have a good idea what should be produced next. We're the perfect advert.

  3. More likely you're browser than the site - it seems to be up and running fine. Looking again at the two designers it looks like they may have been made independantly. The two applets work the opposite way round - with the uni one you have to click the area then the pallet - with symbi its the pallet then the area. Anyway... can you say "thread drift". my bad
  4. No problem whatsoever with it being inside your helmet. When you see FFers with their protracks on the outside of their helmet it probably isn't by choice - it's just that thier helmet doesn't come with internal audiable pockets. A protrack is most accurate on your ancle (according to L&B) and will suffer slight loss of accuracy if you mount it on your head regardless of whether or not it's inside or outside. If I jump with a friend with his protrack on his ancle and mine in my helmet there is very rarely any meaningfull difference. This will be true of any freefall computer and is simply down to the shape of our burble rather than the workings of the specific product.
  5. AFAIK everything Dragon02 has said is right, but bear in mind that the Sony 0.6 is much wider than an 0.6 made by most other brands. I've found it to be about as wide as a 0.45 by many other manufacturers. Go figure. The numbers are good generalisations but there are some surprises in stall if you rely on them alone.
  6. You might want to put a higher bid on it so that no one comes along and uses the buy it now feature. If someone does that the rig could disappear now. Put something like $20,000 on it so you won't get sniped at the last minute. That way you are at least guaranteed to get his address. The bid will only go up to the reserve no matter what your max bid. Since the seller wont get to see your max bid you don't risk tipping the guy off. It wouldn't be that unusual to have someone bid just to outbid the reserve.

  9. Arange to come look at it. Say he wants to try it on to see if it fits. Turn up with the cops. Simple as that. The cops should be interested if he points out to them that it's like $4000 worth of stuff brand new and the serial number can prove it's his. If they know they have a cast iron handling stolen goods charge on that $ ammount it's worth their while. Or just have the cops do it for him. If he wont meet see if E-bay will give the cops the sellers adress so they can just turn up unannouced.

  11. To my knowleged there have been the pc, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 100, 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107 108, 109, 110, 120, 330. I probably missed some. Some I think were only sold in some countries - eg the pc2 and pc4 I think were only for Germany... don't quote me though. Also oddly the 110 came long before the 109 And I'm not sure what happened to the pc102...
  12. You can't unkill someone when you find a miscarriage of justice. They happen an awful lot. That's my only problem with it. Now if they're caught red handed, or if they're open about having committed it AND there is corroboratory evidence - hell fry em, it's cheaper. I'm no bleeding heart, but I am a realist. Miscarriages happen a LOT more often than people realise. And a miscarriage is far more likely to happen when someone is not given decent legal representation the first time through court.
  13. Yup - it's an example of very temperate treatment of the mentally ill. So much so that you see backlashes in the press about it. I don't think these people should be in society and I think the uk posting is an example of the other end of the spectrum - overly lenient treatment. I'm in the middle - don't let em walk round throwing people under trains - lock em up. And if you're gonna lock em up make sure you give em a competant lawyer. People of deminished capacity are the most in need of someone put their side of things.

  15. I can't see any discrepancies from the pics. The only thing then that we know to be different is the harness size... perhaps the owner could have got that wrong? If it is stolen, I don't think anyone should contact the seller to tell them. This is not one of those professional online acutioneers and could be the actual thief themself. Even if they're not, if they find out the item is stolen it may well simply dissapear so they don't lose their money. If it is the item, leave it to the owner to contact the police to get the rig back. Don't trust the seller to simply hand it over - they may not be an innocent party.
  16. PC101. I think that you've excluded the vast vast majority of non-pro jumpers from the poll. Most non-professionals use PC series cameras, and you've only listed the PC109, which has been out maybe 6 months max... This makes the cameras such as the pc105, which is still being sold new due to existing stock levels, as an "old" camera.
  17. I'm not sure what you're saying. The link you've posted gives details of very temperate treatment of the mentally ill. This guy was suffering from a mental illness, for which he was being treated. Whilst out on day release he murdered someone… perhaps you are saying that not incarcerating mental patients before they even commit a crime is dealing with them harshly? Once he had committed murder and demonstrated himself to be a serious risk to society he is put in a mental hospital where he can be treated and cannot hurt anyone else. He will not be let out unless he gets better. Indefinitely does not mean forever, it just means they don’t know how long – if it’s proved he has got better, there will be an avenue for his release.
  18. You say it's new gear. E-mail/call the manufacturer. They may well have a solution for you which they'll send out free. I'd be amazed if they don't at least try to sort the problem out for you.
  19. One thing that bugs me is the lack of decent legal representation these people get. Sure they’re accused of some really terrible things but lawyers won’t touch em with a barge poll. This really worries me. The people on death row are often represented by the dregs of the legal profession. There are a lot of good people doing pro-bono work, but all too often it is left to lawyers with little left in the way of a career or simply no experience. This is because society effectively ends a lawyer’s career if they represent someone who is demonised by the press. No one with a career dare go near these people for fear of effectively losing their ability to earn. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve gone to London and someone’s tried to recruit me to go out to the states and help. There are a lot of Good-Samaritan barristers who spend their own money travelling to the states to give free legal advice to death row convicts. I’m sorry to say that it’s treated like aid to a third world country in the profession. I’ve briefly considered it but I’m left with the realisation that I simply do not have anything like the personal finance I’d need to be able to support myself. There is no government money for it, you better believe that there aint no money from the defendants and moreover the public doesn’t want there to be any money for it. Everyone deserves proper legal advice. The more serious the punishment the more certain I would want to be of the conviction. How certain are you of legal advice given by a drugged up hippy lawyer living in a tee-pee, who can’t get a brief any other way? That is a real example – the lawyer who represented Aileen Wuornos, (who by the way was also a raving nut bag when she was executed in 2002).

  21. Several manufacturers now offer pillow reserve handles which either have a plastic swadge or actually a mini d-ring inside the pillow. These designs prevent the handle from turning under the harness but are still unlikely to be caught by another jumper/plane. Or you could just get a D-ring.

It's probably the best designer I've seen so far and given RW suits all look the same (well mostly) you could use it for any manufacturer to get an idea of what it's gonna look like. If I'd read this yesterday I could have asked the Bristol Uni lot who pinched the applet off who.
  23. Like I said, in England the chances of a couple of kids breaking in to a old car being armed with anything more than a knife are infinitesimally small. OK, there are some guns on the street over here, but they aint being carried by kids breaking into a 1990 burgendy Rover Metro that smells like grandparents.
  24. I probably wouldn't have done it in another country... but it's far from likely that English car theives breaking into a 10 year old 1lt Rover Metro will be armed with anythiong more serious than a screwdriver.
