In the past, electric vehicles weren’t that powerful and the only way to get speed and power right out of the box was to buy something that was nitro powered. But that has all changed with the invention of the brushless motors and the LiPo batteries. Now even ready-to-run vehicles come with more power than you could ever want without having to modify a thing. We have gotten to the point where you can go really fast and as an added bonus, you are now able to fine-tune the settings of your speed control and motor to your liking. I do believe, however, that brushless and LiPo power is getting to the point where it is too powerful for some vehicles. Eventually the power will be so much that you won’t be able to control it and I feel that it will eventually turn people away from the hobby. Is it time for companies to get together and start regulating the horsepower they are selling to the masses? Let’s take a history lesson from the nitro scene. Stadium trucks were the rage back in the day and the class was full of trucks. The engines that were used in them became too powerful and it way hard to put the power down efficiently, which made them difficult to drive for the beginner and even experienced user.
