    First a little correction, you don't do direct bag throughout the whole program I don't have any numbers for the whole world but here in Sweden the most Dangerous jump you can do is the first one where your supposed to pull by yourself. This is from the statistics that is reported to FAI every year, unfortunately there is very few countrys that keeps track of their statistics. Even the numbers from USPA (at least used to be as late as 2002) to FAI is only estimates. Personally I've seen far to many students make a perfect last automatic and then just forget everything and tumble out the door on their first jump without the static line. Martin You don't pull by yourself on a S/L jump. You say the number one killer of students is a horse shoe after a S/L exit. Which do you mean. Again do you have any numbers on why you think this.     Hey Tom, As I recall, it was supported by 2 Twin Beeches, one of which was Spike Yarder. The other one did a ground loop on landing and was totaled. No serious injuries. And it was Fran's Star Ranch. Fran bought the wrecked plane and it sat in front of her place for several years. The accuracy was won by one Sandy Calliham, the same one that just posted on Air Trash.     You certainly can throw it out (ie, horizonally) the window. That vector quickly gets dwarfed by the relative wind, but only drag will slow it down. Since a PC is on a bridle, that never really comes into play. It's well under 1/10th of a second to go full length. "You keep thinking Butch, thats what you are good at." Sundance to Butch.     Kate is still around Perris, her and Tony split up. I think she is still part owner of Square One. It will be jumping Kate and Tony's big way camp in May followed by some 100 ways they are putting on. Jerry Swovelin and Barb are still around, alone with brother Pat.     First thing you want to do is get PPM Vols. I & II. Study the sections on materials, manufacturing procedures and design and construction. You should thoroughly understand how a parachute functions before you attempt to build one. And remember there is no perfect canopy, each design element is a trade off. Next buy or get access to a number of sewing machines. Double needle with a french seam folder, single needle walking foot, a zigzag and a bartac. Spend countless hours with scrap material learning the various stitches that will be used. It is legal for you to make and jump your own main canopy. Drop testing is the safest way to see if it works but at some point it has to be live jumped. This is best left to someone with experience doing such things. Be prepared for some failures. Good Luck.     Not “blaming” anyone, just stating an opinion. Take a real P/C with the monkey fist, run the car up to 120 mph and see if you can throw it past the slipstream of wind. Or you could put a 10 pound weight on the P/C, stand on the roof and give it a try. I tried it on a test vehicle and I could not throw a P/C at 90 mph.     At 120 mph do you think you can "throw" any P/C throw out or pull out. Where you let go of the P/C is where it will start going up. Next time you are driving down the highway at 70 mph or so, take a napkin and try to throw it out of the window. It will go straight back as soon as it leaves your hand.
