  1. If you go through 1,000 feet at terminal, you have about 5/6 seconds until impact. If you step out of an airplane doing 80 to 90 mph at 500 feet, you have about 5/6 seconds until impact. From the time your container opens at terminal you start slowing down and as soon as you step out of the airplane you start slowing down. The difference is that when you step out of the airplane you will only slow down at first then you will speed up. That is if you don't pull. Most reserve canopies are tested to open in 3 seconds. And 3 seconds is 3 seconds no matter how fast you are going. I have stepped out of an airplane at 600 feet and would take that over going through 1,000 feet at terminal anytime. (And BillVon is right, I went for my main.) When your cypres fires it is just about to late for you to do anything useful. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  3. Your rigger is wrong. On a single harness dual canopy system even the main container is part or the TSO'd system. To modify it you must be prepared to show that the modification does not affect the function of the reserve container and it deployment of the reserve canopy. Some TSO tests requires testing with the main container packed and others with the main container empty. What is not TSO'd is from the main attachment point up. Tonto, The TSO on the rig you described has been voided if the person doing the modification is not the manufacture or has not received authorization as described by Terry. 10. Necessary for what? Speed skydiving contest? Birdman jump? 357 way attempt? 4-way Open at Nationals? It's an ill-posed question. Posted 23 April, 2004 And that’s a repeat of your response from 23 April last year. If you feel it is that bad of a question, don't respond. Seems simple to me. 13. “So what”. Anytime you have to use your reserve you are no longer sport parachuting. You are like the pilot with his plane on fire, you are trying to save you life. It is not something to take lightly, and it sure a hell is not a “So what”. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  19. Ron, I think the question is how hard is it to check your gear before putting it on? He didn't notice it for 14 jumps, that sounds like maybe "complacency" to me. But I could be wrong. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. You asked this question earlier and have yet to respond. “How many of your copyrighted pictures were stolen?” I responded with: Here are 2 sites where they claim the same picture is the staff of two different DZ’s. It is really a picture taken by Brent Finley during the filming of a movie. It is the property of Brent Finley, not SkyRide. I know for a fact there is no LA Skydiving so they are using a stolen picture to represent the staff of a DZ that does not exist. That is unethical anyway you look at it. http://www.laskydiving.com/staffexp.html http://www.skydive-tennessee.com/staffexp.html My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  22. By tucking the excess cable into the Velcro you are not allowing the cable to move freely in the handle. If you flex the harness just right it can and has pulled the reserve pin. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
