  1. You are making a grudge where there is none. It would be best to not go there. Seriously:(nice word, I like that)

  4. I've taken more than one CC course. I can still answer the other questions. But you seem to have the answers to all the questions anyway. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. If you sew with your shoe off, do you wear out just one sock?
  6. For those that knew him, Bill Edwards (Dirty Ed) was found in his trailer this morning. It appears he died in his sleep. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. Order a lighter boot for the operator.
  8. Nope, the pic is a 1.75 buckle. Mirage's don't have 1" buckles. Derek My mistake, the bottom picture sure looks like a 1". Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Um yes he did break the sound barrier, yes the value of the "sound barrier" is dependent on atmosphere lower pressure = slower speed of sound, yes there is sound in space ... just not conducted at all in the VACUME of space No he did not exceed the speed of sound. 10. If you told them what you were jumping for a reserve, they probably realized that you are loading it almost forty pounds over maximum weight and did not want to chance loaning one of their mains to you. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. The data sheets you posted are for a 1.75" adapter and the one in the picture is a 1" adapter. I do not think you will find a Mil-Spec. drawing on a 1". Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. My mistake, have a senior moments. Lets just blame it on BillVon. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. There are a few people in this sport that I listen to without question. Bill Booth is one of them. If he says its a bad idea....Its a bad idea. Toatally agree Ron, I was just interestedin Sparkys' view on it, that's all
  14. I would say "Bull shit". I have jumped at both for over25 years and have never heard of it. The torso may leave a depression that deep but not the arms and legs. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  18. Canopies don't "decide" to do anything. They do just what you tell them to do. If it was flying backwards it was not in a stall. It spun up because one side stalled while the other side continued to fly backwards. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. If having 2 metal handles cause confusion during a cutaway, I think it is time for some added training on EP. One is right, one is left. Hard to confuse. jmo. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. Your reserve is packed with just 2 locking stows, made of shock cord, and the rest of the lines are stowed in a side pocket. In my opinion the things that effect opening shock most are slider placement during packing and canopy design. For the last 5 or 6+ years I have been jumping a main D bag with only the two locking stows and use tube stows. The rest of the lines are in a Velcro side pocket. I have packed my canopy just about every way known to man and have not had a problem that could not be traced to the slider or the design. The side pocket and/or rubber band stows stage the deployment and may reduce felt snatch force but have no effect on opening shock. They are strictly for staging and not metering or reefing of the canopy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. I think you miss the point of what I said. There are two things you need to do. That is you all by yourself, not your nanny. If you choose to jump with an AAD that is your decision. But you should have learned from the recent incident if you want to play the odds game, go to Vegas. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. As I have stated before, there are 2 things that must be done to survive a skydive. (fundamental if you will) One is to deploy a landable canopy be for impact. Two is to land that canopy safely. Anything else you do not a skydive is just fluff. You should never rely or expect anything or anyone to do these two simple tasks for you. 23. You are right, poor choice of words. I was trying to be delicate. How about wake up dead? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. I don't think the rubber bands do much to slow the openings down. The canopy is still in the bag when the bands release the lines and when the canopy comes out of the bag the bands can do nothing to change what it will do from there on. If anything tight bands will tend to stand you up more before the canopy clears the bag. In an upright position you will tend to increase speed before deployment starts. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. I think we are agreeing on this. I was saying the length of the risers does not change the canopy or brake trim. And you are say the shorter risers change the relationship of the jumper to the canopy. Even a person that is 5' tall can reach the toggle on a 24" riser since the bottom of the toggle is only 16" or less above the harness attachment. To avoid the whole problem I think it would be smarter to go with the longest riser possible and still reach the slider and toggles. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
