Where did they say this? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

That "BS" comes from the FAA. “1. What is a supplemental type certificate? A supplemental type certificate (STC) is a type certificate issued when an applicant has received FAA approval to modify an aircraft from its original design. The supplemental type certificate, which incorporates by reference the related type certificate, approves not only the modification but how that modification affects the original design.” http://www.faa.gov/certification/aircraft/ Cessna’s were not type certificated for flight with door removed. And the entry in the logs your mention is made by an A&P not the pilot. Small details, I know, but they are what make it legal. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I charge $200 a day plus travel and expenses for drop tests. For test jumps I charge $200 a jump plus expenses. No more then 4 jumps a day if under 18,000 msl and only one a day if over 18,000 msl. But then testing is more fun than coaching. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And his reserve is still overloaded. My head hurts, I am going to lay down. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Check AC 105-2C for a list of airplanes approved for flight with door removed. Most Cessna's are included. The pilot only needs to ensure that it is done in compliance with any proceedures listed in the Operating Handbook. In some planes, 172 included, the pilot needs to wear an approved parachute if the door is removed. That is a list of planes that have been approved but each plane has to get its own approval. The requires a 337 form, STC, new weight and balance and proper placards added where needed. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

As a non pilot I can see you maybe believing this, but as a rigger you should know better. Gliders have full 3 axis flight and parachutes turn right, left and go down. They have no pitch control and a glide ratio far less then the 60:1 some gliders have. You hang under a parachute, you ride in a glider. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Nope, no ego here. Emelda Marcos had more shoes than you and jumps. The only arrogance here is your attitude about your ability and "performance". You can read all the books you want, get all the advise you can, but when your world turns to shit at 2,500 feet you had better have some experience to handle all the variables you are bring with you or be damn lucky. You are right, nothing constructive happening here. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I don't think you understand. Your reserve will still be overloaded in 15 years if you your exit weight remains the same. The Cricket is a 145 sq. ft. canopy that is designed and tested to be safe at 160 pounds max. not 200 pounds. All the reasons in the world will not change this fact. If you dump your reserve at terminal there is a good chance you will retire from skydiving shortly there after. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

They do not go up, air currents carry them up, big difference. They are carried aloft like pollen, only when nature feels like it. They are not aircraft, they are parachutes. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

A piece of toilet paper can actually ascend in thermals. That does not make it an aircraft. The FAA's view on the modern day parachute is the same as it has always been. They are considered “aerodynamic deceleration devices.” They have no power and they do not go up. They carry a suspended load to the surface at a pre-designed descent rate. They do not consider them A/C in any sense of the word. And they wish they would go away. In almost every case where there is a violation of FAR’s, it is the jump plane pilot that will get his butt in a jam, not the jumpers. Like Harry said, if push comes to shove, we lose. I think there might be a language problem that is causing a misunderstanding. But one thing is for sure, you are jumping a reserve that is overloaded about 40 pounds (18.14 kilograms) above the manufacture’s recommended maximum weight. Now pointing this out to you might cause you some extra fear on you next few jumps and it damn well should. I am sorry if this offends you but that 40 pounds (18.14 kilograms) and a little extra speed just might “cause death or serious injury”. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

With 32 pages of hits, how many were people talking about the same incident? Without reading a little more that could be about fewer than 5 incidents. A properly packed and maintained P/C and bridle with a curved pin does eliminate the chance of a PC in tow. They happen because jumpers keep inventing new ways to make them happen. As far as waiting for “your container to open”, how much faster do you think your canopy deploys because of a Pull out system? You PC still has to reach the end of the bridle before the bag comes out of the container. The time it takes to put a landable canopy over your head is just about a tie if the pull out does not lay in the burble too long. Why do you use a Throw out on your wing suit? Both are good system, but I feel one keeps everything simpler. Sparky And I won't even go near the comment on being saved by the cypres. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Too bad they are not made anymore, but Silly Suit would work just great. More material than my Hobby Cat sail and made of canvas duck. And swoop cords work just fine if they are built right and adjusted right. Part of going fast is being able to stop. Swoops can be used in many different situations. It takes some time to learn how and when to use them and if you don't know how to use them, they won't work. Just like everything else. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Real 10 way rules: Small door Beech. No show exit. No grips. First out, base and pin. Time started with first movement in the door, ended when last man broke in. Last but not least, "If you ain't cheaten, you ain't tryin" Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Good catch my friend. If something doesn't feel right, it usually isn't. Borrowing gear is not like borrowing a White Sports Coat to go to the Prom.

No one posted anything about a Spectre having a steeper glide....If you re-read what was posted, people offered general advise about the difference between 7 cells and 9 cells. Take it anyway you wish, but remember, you asked. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I also had over 200 jumps on rounds before jumping a square. I still do an occasional test jump on round canopies. I would advise you to take a pill and lay down until this feeling goes away. You have nothing to gain, nothing to prove and stand a good chance of getting yourself hurt. Sparky PS: Have you ever wondered why no one jumps them any more. Even Bob Sinclair gave up rounds a few years ago. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
