You are right, no one cares......except you. Your log books are for you and you will never regret keeping them up. Lie in you log books and you just lie to yourself. I have never heard anyone say "I wish I had not written so much information about that jump 15 years ago." Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

He is going to need a rigger to put it back in, why not give the rig to a rigger and let him handle it. That is why they get the big bucks. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Wendy, That was an excellent post and should be read by everyone with a new rig. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Sparky While he may be a "good friend to many" he is also a thief. If he is sick, as a "good" friend you should see that he gets treatment. In the mean time he is running around acting like a "fuckin weirdo". (spelling corrected) Understanding goes both ways. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Well said Chuck. There are only a very small group of canopy pilots that are able to fly a canopy at a level where these changes will make a difference. And it took them thousands of jumps to get to that point. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Thanks. I would say that when they made it a 7-TU the data pannel went away. Weren't they usually at the lower edge of the center rear gore. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

NEVER, NEVER tie anything to you or your harness with a lanyard. More than one person has died because of this. Take, it with the lanyard and put it inside of your jumpsuit or in a pocket. A flash light can be taped to your arm or to the top of your helmet. Sparky

You would be a lot better off if you just take it to a rigger and let them do it. They know how the AAD is installed and how the reserve system works. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

It is not the lack of chest rings that is causing the bruising, it sounds like your MLW may be to short. Try jumping with your chest strap lose enough to where the MLW is straight from shoulder to hip and your leg straps a little looser. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

*** YUP! You're right...you win!! (Ever seen that picture about 'arguing over the internet' and racing in the Special Olympics ?) You are right Jim, they win.

Once again, I did not say "HP = death trap", you did. My original post on my definition of a HP canopy: "One that is above the experience and skill level of the jumper under it." Where did I make reference to "death trap"? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Question on first tandem mains...
mjosparky replied to piisfish's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Jimmy snapped on to d-rings on the end of long risers extending down legs and out the bottom of the jumpsuit. They were attached to a torso harness worn under the jumpsuit. They, Jimmy Tyler & Bill Parsons, landed under a Raven IV ram air canopy. On his second chuteless jump Jimmy landed under a modified Piglet, round, canopy. Your original statement was that HP = flying a canopy beyond one's skillset. And I still disagree with that. The fact that a top pro swooper can make an impressive 300ft swoop on a 2.0 wingloading and do it safely 1000 times in a row does not take away the "HP" (if anything, it makes it more HP, because their performance is higher... get it? ). By your definition (my interpretation, ok?), being in over your head is a requirement of "HP". (And I think we can agree being in over your head is a bad choice). To you it is HP, to them it is just another canopy. Their skill and experience allow them to do it safely a 1000 times in a row. Like you said, that is my definition, if you don't agree with it fine, there is no requirement that you buy off on anything I post. But don't try and change it to fit your "interpretation". No, the way you defined HP makes it bad. Don't put words in my mouth, I don't like the taste. The right amount of experience and skill can remove HP from a canopy and make it just a canopy. There are very few canopy pilots that posses that skill and experience though. Most just think they do. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Have you ever tried to gain altitude in thermals? Do you know what your sink rate is? THANKS As a rigger examiner for lap, you should be able to answer that yourself. Lap parachute systems have not been made since the 30's and the FAA has not issued a Lap rating in over 20 years. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Is that a typo, or should we buy a dictionary for the folk at Paraflight? (their website seems to be no longer operational, so I couldn't check for myself). This is the round Forsythe was referring to. http://www.paraflite.com/html/advancedparachute.html It is a cross form with the legs sewn together. The first slider on a round was in the late 40's I think. It was also used by Simula for the Dura Pack which is replacing aircrew systems in the Navy and Air Force. Don't forget that a 135 loaded at 1.3 or 1.4 is much less forgiving than a 200 load at 1.3/1.4. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The finger trap will hold when under load, the bar tack or zigzag is there for when the line is in a relaxed state. That is when a finger trap will shift and possibly come completely out. That and it keep the jumpers from freaking out. Or you can use this method. Finger Trap Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
