    The MT1XX was the interim parachute system which was displaced by the adoption of the MC4 Parachute system (ARMY) in 1991. They are either gray or black in color. I have one in the living room at home and will try to get a picture posted tomorrow when I get home. I know the MC-4/5 came out in 2 versions.     I am not trying to down play anything. A device did not cause a fatality, using the device outside of its design limits caused a fatality. If you pull your reserve at 200 feet and it fails to deploy before impact, did the reserve cause the fatality? No, the fatality was caused by using the reserve outside of its design limits. You pulled too low. In this case the jumper went too fast too low and the device did just what it was designed to do. Air bags are intended to save lives, but we don't use them on skydive.     Their "freedom" ends when it adversely affects someone else. These same people that claim they are adults and it is their right to do as they please forget that they are doing this on someone else’s dime. It’s not their airplane, not their DZ and there are other people in the air and on the ground that are affected by their action. If they want to be treated like adults they should act like an adult.     Before you even get to this point, do several drop tests of the item to get a good idea what to expect if and when you do a live test jump with it.     For what its worth, I think you are right. Using the numbers for 2001 thru 2005 to date there have been 132 fatalities in the US. Exclude landing related incidents and you have 86 for the same period.
