    Hey Pecker, Some of us "old farts" bitch and complain about the new breed of jumper and at times they do piss me off. But I think I can speak for most of the older jumpers, if someone wants to learn we are glad to pass on what was taught to us. Some have more to teach and some are better at it, but they all have something of value to "give" to newer jumpers. I know it makes me feel good about myself to make some jumps with someone less experienced and be able to see the improvement is just a few jumps. "I have 2000 more round jumps than you have jumps total"....and he does.     When flying a helicopter it is left petal at high power setting and right petal when power is reduced. They are called "torque petals" instead of "rudder" petals. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

    The apex vent is there to prevent over-pressure of the canopy during deployment. Without it the opening would be explosive and would almost always damage the canopy. The smaller the canopy, the larger the apex vent needs to be relative to size. A 24’ flat with an 18” vent will oscillate to the point of making you sick. More air comes in the 24’ foot bottom than can vent out of the 18” top. Vent near the skirt allow the air to vent while still maintaining a good positive pressure near the top.     I to have jumped from 30,000 feet and higher and spent 6 years on a USAR team with the Fire Dept. We rappelled from 200 feet on a regular basis. The difference between us is I got paid to do both, the jumps from 30,000 quite will. Both of these activities can be done safely and served a purpose. At some point in an attempt to land a wingsuit you will have to make contact with the ground, on you face, and dissipate the energy of a body in freefall. Since it will not make a large difference in the good of mankind, that leaves money or ego. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
