  1. Thats because she Woves you soooooo much!
  2. NOT! The point of this discussion is that the choices and decisions being made by a small group of jumpers is reckless, dangerous and exposes other jumpers to risks that are unnecessary. Doing a 270 in traffic is selfish ego driven behavior and has nothing to do with a waiver. And it has nothing to do with individual freedom. By your definition I should be able to use landing canopies for skeet practice, after all the wavier said this shit could be dangerous. Quote(those number are so small as to be nearly meaningless, despite the recent tragedy) Do you think the friends and family of the 2 jumpers who dies think it was meanignless? 3. If you really believe that you need some canopy coaching. How much altitude will you lose in 2 90's as opposed to a carving 180? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. This is correct for almost every canopy. Very few people have actually put their canopy in a full on stall. If you have, you will remember it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. There are a lot of dead skydivers who thought they were fast, competent and would never lose altitude awareness. If you think you can cover all scenarios, you would be the first skydiver who could. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. Go to this site, it will give every STC issued to a C-182. Sparky STC My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I wonder if it ever accrued to him to look out the door before he jumped? Or for that matter before he put his students out. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Thats his main deploying. Remember, the picture was taken from 2,500 feet away. He sure was fast on the trigger. He is still head down from the exit. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. You just don't get it. People do not want to risk their life for your sport and pleasure. I do not HAVE to accept the fact that someone else's reckless actions might kill me. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. I have not said swooping is evil, nor did I call a swooper an "A-HOLE". I do not think swooping is stupid but it is dangerous to others when done in the normal pattern. I did point out that you got pissed for someone doing to you what swoopers do to others at times and say the other jumper was in the way of their swoop. If you are going to address my post, address the whole of it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. The "non-swooper" you mention pissed you off for doing the same thing that swoopers do to people flying a "normal" pattern. They do a tight 270 turn from as high as 1000 feet and drop straight down into the pattern. They often cut off people that are already set up on a final approach. Both the "non-swooper" and the guy doing the 270 in traffic are in the "wrong attitude" by putting others a risk by their actions. Why to swoopers feel things have got to change to suit them? And for the record, how did you know the "A-HOLE" was a non-swooper? Was he wearing a sign? Sparky PS: His name is Bill, not Dude. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. But it only take one to cause a collision. You can be on the ground, standing still and be part of a collision. And it does not change the fact that getting taken out by someone doing a H/P landing is unacceptable. Sparky Harry, Thanks for the good work this weekend. A/P owner thought is was great. 13. I would be concerned and wonder how much damage the canopy has that I can't see. I have cutaway with as few a 3 lines, 3 lower, 6 upper, broken. None of which were "A" lines. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. But I still do when the situation calls for it. I would prefer to test nice ram-air canopies that I am comfortable with but the last couple of programs I worked were with 26 and 28 footers. Lucky me. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  17. This is a good question. Aerodyne recommends no more the 190 lb. exit weight at and above your experience level. What is the smallest F-111 7 cell you have landed in the past? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. Larry, It is easy to tell the good from the bad. The "Good Swoopers" are the one's that really do know how to handle their canopy and can land in a crowd without causing a ripple. The ones that cause all the problems are immature, selfish little shitheads that believe they have a right to do just what they want, anywhere they want and anytime they want. What they need it to get their ass kicked 2 or 3 times a week for a couple of months or until they understand that their rights stop where other people's start. 19. We are not racecar drivers and this is not a race. If someone wants to fly their canopy in a manner that is a risk to others, they should be the ones to skydive alone. Of course there is risk in skydiving but that risk should be of my choosing not what someone else thinks is acceptable. If I am on final approach at 100 feet and get taken out by someone doing a H/P landing, that is unacceptable. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. Oh, for cryin' out loud, guys, you make it sound like Para-Commanders were death rigs that pile-drove you into the ground. In fact, they were safe, reliable, and gave very decent landings to thousands of jumpers. I loved my first PC, and didn't have a single cutaway on it in about 150 jumps. (My first reserve ride was jump #57, jumping a cheapo, and that was a 4-pin ripcord hard pull-total; not a canopy malfunction.) The cheapos' landings were a bit harder, but not terribly so (for us skinny kids), and they opened quite reliably if you were a student with [ahem] stability problems. Oh, and one more thing: once you had a "perfectly good" round over you, it was almost unheard of that you might still die under it. I noticed from your profile that you are no longer jumping a Para-Commander or any other round for that matter. Why is that? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. T, There are just too many variables to give a cut and dry answer. When and if you are ever confronted with a situation of a similar nature it is going to be your call. You will be the only one around to make that decision. I know this doesn't help much, but it is all about learning everything you can about gear in general and your gear in particular. Never quit trying to learn what makes gear work and not work. And never delay EP because you do not trust your reserve. If you do not have faith in your reserve, get a different one or a different rigger. Better yet, become a rigger and pack your own. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. I am not sure I understand what your answer means. My original questions: Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. Doing a H/P landing like a 270 in a pattern with other traffic flying a normal down wind, base and final is on the "not safe side". I think that was proven at X-Keys. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Bill, are you referring to PIA TS 135? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. Landing a canopy after a normal skydive is not a stunt, it is a necessity for survival. And individual jumpers who land their canopy in a way that endangers others should not be tolerated. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
