And when you can give me the probability of that with one vs the probability of going in with without one I'll be able to make an informed decision, until then I'm left with my armchair guesswork to base my gear decision on.     Why would someone want to do that? The ALT III Galaxy has had that feature for several years.

    As usual Terry’s advice is spot on. I would like to emphasize: The first thing to do is pick the smallest reserve canopy you feel you want to land when you are unconscious or injured and then go from there. Remember, bigger is always better when picking a reserve.

    Kevin, Thanks for digging up that picture. The tail looks like they took if right off of a King Air. In fact it looks like a King Air with 450 PW's on it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

    As with any D-18 until the tail comes up on take off and after it drops on landing there is very little rudder integrity. Even with the rudders up in the prop wash it is a handful because the rudders are so small.
